Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 511: This Is the End
CHAPTER 511: CHAPTER 511: THIS IS THE END
"I said, the engagement between Lynn Yates and me ends here."
James Grant spoke each word deliberately, his eyes showing no sign of evasion.
No guest dared to speak up this time.
Harrison Grant’s expression twisted as if he wanted to kill someone, glaring at James Grant: "You, did you do this on purpose? Chose this time specifically to tell me?"
"Not intentionally." James Grant said seemingly seriously, "It’s just that if I came home on a regular day, you probably wouldn’t want to see me, so I had to choose today when all your friends and family are here. Saves me the trouble of having to spread the news."
With that said, James Grant turned his head and glanced swiftly and far away at Evelyn Clayton.
He wasn’t sure if it was his illusion, but he felt like his eyes met Evelyn’s for a brief moment.
However, James Grant had no intention of seeking out Evelyn Clayton.
Announcing the breakup today, he couldn’t let Evelyn bear the consequences.
So James Grant slowly walked up to the podium, looked at the guests below, and lightly curled his lips.
"First, I wish Chairman Grant a long life as great as Southill. Secondly, I would like to inform everyone here that the engagement between Miss Yates and me is over, a result we both agreed on after discussions and a peaceful breakup."
Below the stage, Evelyn Clayton’s expression was stunned for a moment.
Then she lowered her long eyelashes, ignoring the glances that may or may not have been directed towards her.
Still, she couldn’t help it and instinctively looked towards Lynn Yates.
She saw Lynn’s calm and composed expression, even a slight smile on her lips, as she raised her glass slightly to James Grant in gesture.
Their naturally calm and amiable demeanor left the guests unsure of what to say.
James Grant stepped down from the podium without any intention of seeking out Evelyn Clayton. It was as if he had completed a mission, leaving the red-faced, furious Harrison Grant and others behind, he walked away from the Grant Family with determined steps.
Lynn Yates also put down her empty wine glass and bid farewell to Evelyn Clayton with a smile.
She didn’t leave immediately but called for her assistant, presented her gift to Harrison Grant, exchanged a few words, and then drove away in her car.
The atmosphere at the scene was eerily peaceful and harmonious.
After witnessing Lynn Yates leave, Harrison Grant rolled his eyes and passed out.
The hall stirred, and the birthday banquet ended hastily.
Before leaving, Evelyn Clayton did not forget to leave her gift. She and Evelyn were both pulled into The Ford Family’s car by Violet Ford.
The car was silent for a moment.
Franklin Ford acted as the driver for the ladies, diligently driving, and remained silent.
Evelyn Clayton gazed out the window at the night view, contemplating silently, unsure of what to say.
Meanwhile, Yara Reagan was purely in shock.
Finally, it was Yara Reagan who broke the ice.
"Really... today was truly explosive." Yara Reagan murmured, "What on earth was all that?"
Violet Ford glanced at Evelyn Clayton, amused and resigned: "This Eldest Young Master Grant, he always manages to leave people utterly astounded every time."
Speaking, Violet Ford said leisurely: "Luckily, I didn’t let Shirley Owens introduce her niece to Franklin. Franklin, remember, no matter who you end up with in the future, you must not get involved with the Grant Family!"
Franklin Ford, turning the steering wheel, said flatly: "Whether I’m involved with the Grant Family or not—big sis, what you mentioned to Mrs. Owens today wasn’t quite proper either."
"You mean when I brought up you and Evelyn?" Violet Ford chuckled, "Oh, it’s just that I noticed you and Evelyn seem pretty in sync. I think you two suit each other well, right? Young people, there’s nothing to be shy about. Whether it’ll work out or not, you can start by getting to know each other first!"
