Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 547: Vacation
CHAPTER 547: CHAPTER 547: VACATION
Yara Reagan was anxious: "What are you thinking? Just sending two people is enough to watch him? Why not send him directly to the police, saying that he and Lucy Carter colluded to spread rumors about our company, that way Julia Lawrence’s death won’t bring any negative news to Gem?"
"It’s not that simple." Evelyn Clayton looked up at her, her tone more serious, "If we’re going to do this, we must meet two conditions: one, ensure Gem gets out cleanly, and two, make sure Summer Monroe is hit hard so she can’t sabotage us anymore. But have you thought about why Summer could easily sacrifice Soren Foster and throw him in front of me, do you think she will sit idly by after we push Soren out?"
Yara was momentarily confused, "What do you mean? I don’t get it."
Evelyn patiently explained, "It means that Summer dared to send Soren over because, in some way, she’s showing weakness; as long as we don’t turn the fire on her, Soren is ours to deal with. And also, she’s not afraid that we might use Soren to threaten her."
"So even if we reported it to the police and brought up Lucy Carter’s involvement, she would find a way to handle it."
"Otherwise, why wouldn’t she hide Soren, and instead hand over such a huge handle to us?"
By the end, Evelyn’s tone was almost severe.
She stared steadily at Yara, "Yara, trust me, I will solve this. Also, there are some things I haven’t told you because it’s not the right time yet, but I will tell you when it is."
Having said that, Evelyn went to find the people in the company’s PR department to handle the emergency PR and write a press release for this unexpected incident.
When Evelyn turned around, she saw Yara looking at her with a complex, indescribable expression.
Evelyn was slightly stunned: "Yara—"
Yara averted her gaze, her eyelids drooping as if hiding something, but Evelyn still saw the shimmer of tears on the verge of falling.
"Yara, I—"
Evelyn wanted to say something but was interrupted by Yara’s words.
"It’s nothing." Yara’s voice was soft, "Evelyn, I know since school, whether it’s academics or anything else, I’ve never matched up to you. Now at work, it’s the same."
"I’ve always felt somewhat inferior to you, but I thought it didn’t matter, at least I could help you, however little I could... But now looking at you, I feel so far apart from you."
"You have secrets you don’t want to tell me, things you don’t want to tell me—because you think even if I knew, I wouldn’t be much help, right?"
Evelyn panicked for a moment and stepped forward to grab Yara’s hand, "No, Yara, that’s not what I mean—"
However, Yara avoided Evelyn’s hand.
Evelyn’s words came to an abrupt halt.
She suppressed the sourness in her throat and spoke softly, "Yara, I’ve kept things from you, but it’s never because I thought you couldn’t help me..."
"Whatever it is, I don’t want to care anymore." Yara waved her hand lightly, her face full of fatigue, "If you can handle it alone, then don’t say anything, I’m tired too."
With that, Yara went back to her office, shortly after grabbing her backpack and looking like she was about to leave.
Evelyn hurriedly stepped forward and grabbed her wrist, "Yara! Where are you going?"
"Taking a break." Yara pulled her hand away, her expression calm yet firm, "I’ll come back when I’m no longer in your way."
