CHAPTER 552: CHAPTER 552: YOU’RE RIGHT

This remark slightly changed the expressions of Violet Ford and Franklin Ford. Both looked at Evelyn Clayton, speechless for a moment.

After a long silence, Violet turned to Franklin, inquiring, "Franklin, the entire Ford Family will be yours in the future. Whatever decision you make, I’ll follow your lead."

Franklin was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled.

"Big sister," Franklin’s voice was slightly deep, "Don’t say things like that. I know you’ve never had such thoughts. This idea of following the son after the husband’s death or following the brother after the father’s death... you always dismissed those notions."

Franklin and Violet exchanged a glance and smiled lightly, "You simply don’t want the Ford Family to fall into outsiders’ hands."

Upon hearing this, Violet gently bit her lip, slightly choked.

She took a deep breath and looked at Evelyn, "Evelyn, maybe the decisions made by Franklin and I are based on benefits. But I still want to say, I admire you greatly."

Looking into Violet’s eyes, Evelyn knew her true ally had arrived.

"Then, let’s preemptively wish us a successful and pleasant cooperation," Evelyn’s voice was slightly deep as she raised her teacup and smiled, "I use tea in place of wine to toast the two Directors."

Violet and Franklin also raised their glasses, revealing faint smiles.

Putting down the tea cup, Evelyn said slowly, "Today when I came over, I didn’t let Yara Reagan know. In fact, concerning the whole affair, she only knows that the policeman contacted me, that’s all. So, I hope that, regarding the subsequent matters, she doesn’t need to know too much."

Violet instinctively glanced at Franklin, momentarily speechless.

And Franklin’s hand paused slightly against the rim of the glass, moments later he spoke mildly, "You’re right to do so. The more people know about this affair, the less advantageous it becomes."

"Thank you for your understanding," Evelyn finally relaxed, "I don’t want to drag Yara into this mess, even if she might feel in the future that I didn’t treat her as my best friend... yet, I still don’t want her to risk danger."

Speaking thus, Evelyn’s voice softened as she turned to Franklin, "I believe Director Ford shares my sentiments."

Franklin did not respond explicitly, but the implication was evident.

Violet’s eyes flickered and she shifted the topic, "So, what do you need us to do next?"

Evelyn nodded, "There is one thing I need your help with."

"What is it?"

"I need you to find a way for me to meet Lars Alden."

*

When she left the club, it was already late at night.

Evelyn drove home and sat on the sofa without turning on the lights.

Thinking about today’s event, the weight on her heart lightened somewhat.

With the Ford siblings as strong partners, the path ahead would be smoother.

As for Lars Alden...

In the darkness, Evelyn’s eyes flickered on and off.

Lars Alden is currently held in detention at the police station in Y Province, and his sentencing won’t be resolved until at least the end of the year.

Thus, finding him now is still feasible.

However, Evelyn always felt that someone might already have their eyes on her.

From how Summer Monroe obediently handed Soren Foster over to her, it was clear Summer was yielding, not wanting the matter to escalate and worsen.

Yet, considering Summer’s past actions, where she treated Evelyn as an eyesore and thorn, her recent behavior was rather unusual.

There was only one plausible explanation.

That is, someone behind Summer has discovered something and ordered Summer not to make any further moves.
