Chapter 580: Obedient and Well-Behaved
CHAPTER 580: CHAPTER 580: OBEDIENT AND WELL-BEHAVED
"These are all trivial matters."
Evelyn Clayton’s smile faded, but she remained calm.
"Officer Young, if I really can’t make it out, I may need your help with what comes next." Evelyn Clayton bit her lip slightly, looking at Gene Young almost pleadingly, "I don’t want anything else, I just hope that my father’s spirit in heaven can find solace, and that the person who killed him can be justly punished..."
As she spoke, Evelyn Clayton took a deep breath, "I know, this isn’t an easy task for you, and I shouldn’t use this to box you in—"
"Don’t say that." Gene Young interrupted Evelyn Clayton, his gaze resolute, "From the moment I took your call, I had already decided to help you no matter what."
Evelyn Clayton was stunned for a long moment, her eyes welling up with a hint of moisture.
"Thank you, Officer Young."
As night fell, the rain grew heavier.
"Recently, due to the typhoon, the rain is expected to continue..."
The voice from the TV weather forecast sounded mechanical and cold. Summer Monroe lay listlessly on the sofa.
Having entered The Autumnwind Villa, it had been nearly a week without getting out.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Summer Monroe, expressionless, said, "Come in."
Gregory Barnes pushed the door open and entered.
Out of the corner of her eye, Summer Monroe caught sight of him holding an exquisite fruit platter and scoffed coldly, "I don’t want to eat. Take it away."
"The gentleman instructed it." Gregory Barnes, in a gentle voice, placed the fruit platter on the table in front of Summer Monroe, "Is the young lady not in a good mood?"
Recalling the faint sound of music that had drifted in as Gregory Barnes opened the door, a look of disgust flitted across Summer Monroe’s eyes.
"How would I dare?" Summer Monroe sneered, coldly eyeing Gregory Barnes, "I simply don’t want to see you."
Gregory Barnes, not offended in the slightest, instead chuckled softly and bent down to place a thin blanket over Summer Monroe, "You’re speaking in anger, young lady. Make sure the gentleman doesn’t hear it."
Summer Monroe’s hand tightened suddenly around the remote control, then glared fiercely at Gregory Barnes, "Stop using my father to pressure me."
"I wouldn’t dare." Gregory Barnes smiled as he placed the fruit platter closer to Summer Monroe and offered a piece of mango to her lips, "Have a taste, I peeled it myself."
Having reached her limit, Summer Monroe could no longer hold back, "Gregory Barnes, what exactly do you want? Can’t you just let me be alone for a moment? When the time comes, I’ll leave!"
Seemingly savoring the moment of Summer Monroe’s outburst, Gregory Barnes calmly waited before curling his lips into a smile.
"I forgot to tell you, young lady. The gentleman has said he’ll fulfill his previous promise. Now that Soren Foster is no longer useful, he’ll provide you with something better."
Saying this, Gregory Barnes set down the fruit platter, slightly bowing with hands behind his back, exhibiting a gentlemanly demeanor toward Summer Monroe.
Yet Summer Monroe’s whole body shivered, looking at Gregory Barnes in disbelief.
He took her hand, gently kissed the back of it, and softly said, "Thereafter, I’ll be with you, at your command."
"You’re, you’re crazy..." Fear rose in Summer Monroe’s eyes, "You’re, you’re my father’s man..."
Gregory Barnes held an extremely high position in that person’s retinue, second only to one person; there was no way that person would send Gregory Barnes to her side.
Seeing the slight trepidation in Summer Monroe’s eyes, Gregory Barnes gave a small smile.
"That’s precisely why the gentleman cherishes you." Gregory Barnes’s refined and chilly eyes flickered with light, "The gentleman also said that once matters at The Autumnwind Villa are settled, he’ll be free to deal with Evelyn Clayton, and at that time, he’ll support you to the greatest extent in whatever you wish to do."
"As long as you behave obediently."
