Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 621: I Only Love Myself
CHAPTER 621: CHAPTER 621: I ONLY LOVE MYSELF
In the bathroom, Evelyn Clayton tried her best to suppress the sound of vomiting, feeling as if the world were spinning, her vision dimming in waves.
She didn’t know how long it took for the nausea to finally subside.
She sat on the floor, staring blankly at the ceiling.
After a long time, Evelyn opened her mouth in a silent, bitter smile.
A few minutes later, regaining some strength, Evelyn stood up from the floor, looking at her slightly red eyes in the mirror.
She closed her eyes, took a few deep breaths to calm her frantic heartbeat, and only after a long while did she open the door to go out.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw James Grant standing at the doorway with an inscrutable expression.
James looked deeply at her, his eyes filled with indescribable emotions.
"What on earth is wrong with you?" James didn’t miss the redness in Evelyn’s eyes, "Are you—"
"Nothing’s wrong with me." Evelyn interrupted James.
Her voice was cold and emotionless, "I told you, I don’t like turtle soup anymore. No matter how much I used to like it, I don’t like it now, I hate the taste now."
After speaking, Evelyn slightly raised her eyes, staring at James, "Do you understand?"
James’s hand at his side clenched tightly.
Evelyn’s gaze was calm and indifferent, but like a knife, it pierced deeply into his chest.
The pain made even breathing difficult for a moment.
How could he not understand the implications of Evelyn’s words?
She was resisting him, hating him.
She could never go back to how things were with him.
This realization was unbearable for James.
He suddenly raised his hand, gripping Evelyn’s neck with his palm.
Evelyn showed a peculiar smile, raising an eyebrow with a cold sneer, "What, Director Grant, you can’t bear it already? Then I must say the ugly words ahead of time, no matter how long you keep me locked up, my attitude towards you will remain the same."
James’s hand was trembling lightly, and after a long time, he fiercely kissed Evelyn’s lips.
In this kiss, Evelyn felt James’s desperation.
Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, but she neither resisted nor responded.
Until James’s lips temporarily parted.
Before Evelyn could react, James had already picked her up horizontally.
The sudden lack of ground made Evelyn feel a surge of insecurity; her pupils shook slightly as she gritted her teeth, "Let me go, James!"
However, James paid her no mind, carrying her upstairs to the second floor.
Entering the dark bedroom, James kicked the door shut and threw Evelyn onto the bed.
Evelyn’s body sank into the soft bed, and before she could get up, James pressed down on her.
The increasingly heated kisses fell on her lips, neck, and then slowly trailed downward...
Evelyn sensed James’s passion, but she was extremely afraid.
Just as James’s hand reached her buttons, Evelyn shivered, pushing him away forcefully.
Without thinking, in the darkness, Evelyn raised her hand and slapped James across the face.
The crisp slap sounded especially loud in the night.
Evelyn trembled all over, seeing James’s slightly red eyes through the moonlight outside the window.
Both of them remained in a standoff like that.
After a long time, James got up, standing by the bed, looking down at Evelyn.
"Evelyn Clayton..." James’s voice was hoarse, "You never loved me, did you?"
He didn’t understand, if Evelyn had truly loved him, why would she be so resistant to him.
"That’s right, I never loved you, I never loved anyone." Evelyn moved further into the bed, to the corner, keeping a wide distance from James.
"I only love myself."
