Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 632: I’ll Handle It
CHAPTER 632: CHAPTER 632: I’LL HANDLE IT
"Rest assured, I’ve always kept this a secret very well, not many people know who my father is." Gene Young’s cold gaze slightly lowered, then he let out a self-deprecating chuckle, "In the past few months, this is the only thing I’ve done right."
Iris Lockwood looked at Gene Young, and an indescribable feeling arose in her heart.
This feeling was like sympathy, yet also like pity...
Iris Lockwood rarely had such feelings for anyone, this was the first time.
She rummaged through her somewhat limited vocabulary for a while before finding a suitable adjective.
Compassion.
Yes, that’s it.
For the first time, Iris Lockwood felt this way towards a man.
She found it strange, but couldn’t pinpoint why. Instinctively, she spoke to console him, "Officer, don’t blame yourself. None of us expected things to turn out like this."
Iris Lockwood’s casual use of "Officer" made Gene Young’s eyes widen slightly.
The next second, Gene Young shifted his gaze with slightly flushed cheeks and said softly, "You all can just call me by my name."
Yara Reagan was looking at the map on her phone and didn’t notice the subtle atmosphere, only said, "Alright, then let’s not be so formal, just call by names. When the time comes, Iris and Gene—don’t act like you two are strangers, be a bit more familiar."
After a pause, Yara Reagan added, "Also, keep this from Trevor Hawthorne, let him think you two are really a couple. The fewer people know about this, the better."
Just as she finished speaking, there was a knock on the door.
Gene Young and Iris Lockwood looked over simultaneously, both somewhat curious.
"Who is it?" Iris Lockwood asked.
Yara Reagan got up to open the door.
Two medical staff in white coats walked in, one of them was carrying a folding wheelchair.
"Miss Reagan."
Yara Reagan nodded in greeting to the two medical staff, then explained to Gene Young and Iris Lockwood.
"These are the people I borrowed from Trevor Hawthorne." Yara Reagan said in a nonchalant tone, "Doctors from the Hawthorne Family’s medical equipment company who can do the examination for Gene Young at home."
After speaking, Yara Reagan introduced Gene Young’s situation to them, then the two medical staff put down the wheelchair and went out to bring in some simple medical equipment to start examining Gene Young.
Gene Young glanced at Yara Reagan without a trace, behaving obediently as the two of them handled him.
Iris Lockwood coughed lightly, signaled to Yara Reagan with a glance, then got up and gathered the bowls from the table to the kitchen.
Yara Reagan followed her in.
Turning on the kitchen faucet as if to wash dishes, Iris Lockwood was hesitant, "Can you really keep this from Trevor Hawthorne? He’s with James Grant, won’t he know everything?"
"No need for him to know." Yara Reagan’s eyelashes slightly lowered, "It’s just deceiving ourselves, he won’t go out of his way to confront James Grant. Right now, he doesn’t plan to help James Grant and seems to want to curry favor with me. As long as I put on a good face, he’ll pretend he knows nothing."
Iris Lockwood looked slightly unnerved, "Is it really possible?"
"What else?" Yara Reagan scoffed lightly, "Did you think Trevor Hawthorne is a fool? Not just him, but even the seemingly reckless Keith Donovan around James Grant, none of them are easy to deal with."
Iris Lockwood nodded blankly, mumbling, "Turns out I’m the only fool. You all are so smart... I used to think you were like me? But you’re so cunning too..."
"Good that you know." Yara Reagan turned off the tap, her voice even lower, "Go keep your ’boyfriend’ company, I’ll clean up here."
