CHAPTER 637: CHAPTER 637: PERSEVERING TO THE END

Yara Reagan’s expression slightly changed, looking at Shirley Owens with a half-smile, "Is that so?"

She raised her hand, showing her phone, the screen suddenly lit up, displaying an ongoing call.

It was an unfamiliar number, neither Shirley Owens nor Jasper Grant recognized it, and both were slightly taken aback.

Jasper Grant’s face slightly tensed, and after a moment, he said in a deep voice, "Miss Reagan, what do you mean by this?"

Yara Reagan chuckled lightly and turned on the speaker.

"Hello." Yara Reagan stared directly at Jasper Grant and Shirley Owens, "Director Yates."

A moment later, Lynn Yates’s indifferent voice came through the phone, "Director Reagan, hello."

Shirley Owens’s expression changed drastically.

"You—" Shirley Owens was furious, glaring at Yara Reagan, "How dare you set me up?!"

Yara Reagan carelessly curled her lips, not answering Shirley Owens, but leisurely said to the phone, "Director Yates, we’ll chat another time, I’ll handle things on my side first."

Lynn Yates’s voice was calm and unruffled, "Alright, you go ahead."

Soon after, the beeping sound of disconnection came from the other side of the phone.

Yara Reagan then leisurely looked at Shirley Owens, "Mrs. Owens, I wasn’t setting you up, I just happened to be on a call with Director Yates, and you walked into it."

Saying this, Yara Reagan glanced at Jasper Grant, smiling brightly, "Sorry, young Director Grant, I might have disrupted your romance."

Jasper Grant’s expression was inscrutable, giving no clue what he was thinking.

Yara Reagan met his gaze for a moment, suddenly understanding why Evelyn had said Jasper Grant was not an ordinary figure.

"Miss Reagan, you must be joking." Jasper Grant looked directly at Yara Reagan, his gentle eyes filled with complex emotions, "As for Director Yates’s status, I might not have been worthy either way."

Yara Reagan raised her eyebrows, saying nothing.

Shirley Owens was furious, looking as if she was about to lunge forward.

But she was quickly held back by Jasper Grant.

Jasper Grant took Shirley Owens away, entering the elevator.

Yara Reagan watched them leave, feeling quite pleased.

She had been wondering how to confirm whether the matter between Lynn Yates and Jasper Grant was true; now, she didn’t need to have someone investigate.

And after this incident, she at least figured out that cooperation with Lynn Yates was possible.

Soon after, Iris Lockwood came out.

She had been inside, listening to the situation outside, picking up bits and pieces.

"How did it go?" Iris Lockwood asked eagerly, "Can we look for Lynn Yates to help get Evelyn out?"

Yara Reagan chuckled softly, "It’s still early. After what I did today, Lynn Yates might have reservations about me; let’s wait for her to contact me."

Saying this, Yara Reagan looked toward the hospital room, "How is Gene Young?"

"He’s alright." Iris Lockwood sighed, "But the doctor said his leg is seriously injured. Even if he recovers, he won’t be able to do any strenuous activity, so he might find it hard to progress further in his career as a policeman."

Yara Reagan was silent for a moment, feeling a sense of regret.

Gene Young was a good policeman, and this outcome must be torturous for him.

"You haven’t told him about this yet, right?" Yara Reagan lowered her voice, "It’s better not to tell him for now..."

Noticing a hint of guilt on Iris Lockwood’s face, Yara Reagan sighed, "You’ve already told him?"

"I couldn’t hide it from him, he asked himself. But seeing him, he didn’t seem to react much and even said as long as he’s not paralyzed, he will keep pushing forward."
