Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 639: Let’s Meet
CHAPTER 639: CHAPTER 639: LET’S MEET
After hanging up the phone, Yara Reagan stood in place and pondered for a long time before slowly leaving the rehabilitation center.
Trevor Hawthorne’s car was still parked there. Yara went up and knocked on the car window.
Not long after, Trevor Hawthorne got out of the car.
"How is it?" Trevor raised an eyebrow. "Is Iris Lockwood’s boyfriend doing okay?"
When he said this, he inexplicably carried a hint of mockery.
Yara pretended not to notice and nodded, "Everything’s fine. He needs some time to recuperate. Just now... I saw Shirley Owens and Jasper Grant."
Trevor’s expression slightly changed, "What did they say?"
"Mrs. Grant was quite emotional and very curious about who was staying at the rehabilitation center." Yara raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly, "I guess she didn’t go there randomly. Could it be that Director Grant is curious about my activities, wondering if Evelyn has returned?"
Trevor met Yara’s gaze and was silent for a long time.
After a while, Yara withdrew her gaze, "I’m just joking, don’t take it seriously."
However, Trevor’s expression remained unchanged, only looking at Yara thoughtfully.
"Yara, you’re now very much like Evelyn Clayton from before; you two really are good friends." Trevor murmured softly, "Actually, when I met James yesterday, I just wanted to ask you, is there really no room for negotiation on this matter?"
Yara’s gaze turned cold, "I want to negotiate. The one who doesn’t want to negotiate is James Grant. He’s the one who locked up Evelyn."
Trevor nodded, his expression somber, "I know. But it doesn’t have to escalate to the point of a lawsuit. You know, James is also having a hard time right now. Director Grant keeps pressuring him, and Harvestide Holdings is leaking like a sieve, just a spent force."
Yara snorted lightly, "A spent force? How come I don’t feel that way? Harvestide Holdings’ stock price is soaring; it looks quite profitable."
"But how much of that money will actually end up in James’s pocket?" Trevor said with a tone almost of sincere persuasion, "Ultimately, this matter is between James and Evelyn. Couldn’t we let them resolve it themselves?"
Yara looked at Trevor, for the first time in her life feeling the urge to hit someone.
Thinking of the phone call just now, Yara forcefully suppressed this impulse.
She looked thoughtfully at Trevor for a long time and finally said, "What do you intend to do?"
Trevor, thinking he saw hope, quickly said, "You could temporarily leave this matter to me. Your and Evelyn’s Gem is still running, right? You could go focus on the company’s affairs first, while I have a good talk with James and find a way to ease his relationship with Evelyn. How does that sound?"
"What good would easing the relationship do?" Yara’s hand hanging at her side slightly tightened, "She’s still being held."
"At least we should take it step by step." Trevor sighed, "I heard Evelyn doesn’t want Harrison Grant to know she’s back. Right now, only a few of us are aware of her whereabouts. You haven’t blown up the situation precisely because you don’t want to expose Evelyn’s location... Since that’s the case, let’s strive to resolve this matter in the simplest way possible, okay?"
Yara almost wanted to internally mock Trevor’s naivety.
Why hadn’t she noticed before that Trevor had a bit of the sweet and silly quality?
Yet this makes things rather convenient for her...
Yara pretended to be deep in thought, finally sighing lightly, "Honestly, it’s not that I’ll stop mingling in Riversend, nor can I bear to watch Evelyn and James spiral into mutual destruction. Since Mr. Hawthorne is willing, then please try to persuade James Grant. I hope if he can understand, even if he’s present, let me meet with Evelyn."
