Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 640: I’ll Contact Him
CHAPTER 640: CHAPTER 640: I’LL CONTACT HIM
Watching Tristan Hawthorne, this "silly sweet guy," walk away happily, Yara Reagan went to the supermarket across from the sanatorium and bought a pack of cigarettes.
She paced outside, standing by the trash can at the supermarket entrance, and lit a cigarette.
The nicotine calmed her, and she began to contemplate the current situation.
Just as she was deep in thought, her phone rang.
Checking the screen, Yara’s expression froze slightly.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she answered the call, then she tried to make her voice sound perfectly normal, laughing, "Director Sinclair, what’s up?"
"Evelyn just called me back," Shane Sinclair said with a hint of doubt, "Isn’t she doing well?"
Yara’s heart fluttered with anxiety flashing in her eyes.
She silently took a deep drag of the cigarette, exhaling smoke that blended with the cold air, "Maybe she’s just back. The temperature isn’t quite right for her. It’s been snowing in Riversend these days."
Shane’s doubts lingered, "Is that so?"
After a pause, Shane added, "Then, could I trouble you to look after her more? Try not to leave her alone."
After speaking, Shane politely added, "You two are good friends, and it’s not my place to say this, but Evelyn’s condition really doesn’t seem good."
"Yeah, I know." Yara extinguished the cigarette butt, lowering her gaze, "It’s just that I—after all, I have company matters to deal with."
Shane contemplated, then suggested, "How about I send someone to take care of Evelyn?"
Upon hearing this, Yara felt a twinge in her nerves.
"No, there’s no need for that. Making a big deal out of it wouldn’t be good. Not many people know Evelyn is back, and we’re keeping it from outsiders. I’ll find an appropriate caretaker tomorrow to look after her at home, and I will visit her every evening."
Yara eagerly reassured Shane.
Shane didn’t seem sure whether to believe it or not, but fortunately, he didn’t dwell on the issue any longer. After expressing his thanks, he hung up.
Yara tossed the cigarette butt into the trash can, feeling an unprecedented fatigue.
She returned to the sanatorium just in time to see Iris Lockwood coming out of a hospital room.
"Why are you out?" Yara paused in her steps and glanced towards the room, "How’s Gene Young?"
"He’s a bit tired, he’s fallen asleep," Iris replied, her expression slightly more serious, "Do you remember Elias Sherman, the Y Province police officer we contacted earlier?"
Yara’s expression changed slightly.
Of course, she remembered him.
After Evelyn’s incident, she learned many secrets overnight and had to take over a lot of matters. Besides Gene Young, Elias Sherman was one of those who contacted her.
Back then, before Iris Lockwood joined Nadia Archer’s crew, Yara and Iris met with Elias.
They also happened to meet Lily Warren, Lars Alden’s wife, back then.
"Did he just call you?" Yara’s voice lowered a few notches, "What did he say?"
"He said Lily is in critical condition," Iris’s voice was so low it was almost inaudible, "The doctor has issued a critical notice, saying she won’t last more than two months, and if anything happens, it could be at any time—"
At this point, Iris could barely continue.
Yara slightly tightened her grip, "So, does he want us to go see her? Or is he asking for Evelyn’s whereabouts?"
Iris looked puzzled, "He immediately asked me about Evelyn’s whereabouts, but I really don’t know if I should tell him, so I just told him nothing yet."
Yara frowned, thinking for a long time.
"How about this, I’ll contact him."
