CHAPTER 694: CHAPTER 694: I’LL HOLD A MEETING
"I came back a couple of days ago, been spending time with the kids." Evelyn Clayton smiled as she sized up the chief secretary, "Looks like you’ve gotten even prettier."
The chief secretary blushed shyly, hooking Evelyn’s arm and pulling her into her private office.
"Have a seat for now, there’s someone in the big boss’s office."
The chief secretary enthusiastically grabbed a bunch of snacks for Evelyn.
Evelyn picked a chocolate finger, unwrapped it, and casually asked, "Who’s inside?"
"Vice Director Wyatt." The chief secretary winked at her, "Good thing you’re back, otherwise I think Winnie Wyatt might have gone wild. She’s probably in there now talking to the big boss about replacing you. I really feel like lighting a candle for her; if she knew you were the big boss’s sister, she’d probably regret it deeply."
The chief secretary is Shane Sinclair’s most capable assistant. She’s been to the Sinclair Family residence many times, so she naturally knows about Evelyn’s connection with the Sinclairs.
However, the chief secretary still thinks Evelyn is Shane’s actual sister, just that it was kept under wraps before.
Hearing this, Evelyn chuckled, "What’s there to regret so deeply?"
"Regret all the times she’s pushed you around." The chief secretary, a local of Aethelburg, has a way of speaking that’s very much like performing a comic dialogue.
She got more animated as she spoke, whispering mysteriously, "Hey, did you know? While you were away, Winnie Wyatt was working super hard to get close to the big boss, scared that the boss might not notice her. Who knows if it’s to showcase her work skills, or if she’s aiming to become the boss’s wife."
"Her work skills are apparent, although her personality is a bit..." Evelyn pondered for a long time but couldn’t come up with the right word, "but she probably wouldn’t do something like that."
The chief secretary sighed, "You’re kind-hearted, but she doesn’t treat you the same. Last month, she held a meeting with the design department and said the director was just holding a title and not doing any work, might not even come back in the future, and told them not to look for you with issues, but to come to her instead. Man, she was so smug. It made May so angry she came and ranted to me for an entire afternoon."
Evelyn laughed and shook her head, "May does have a hot temper."
Then, Evelyn paused, "Such things shouldn’t happen anymore."
"Why’s that?"
"The studio over there is done, I’m back for development." Evelyn’s eyes curved slightly.
Just then, there were sounds coming from the CEO’s office next door.
Evelyn got up to go out, and the chief secretary promptly followed.
As soon as they reached the door, they saw Winnie Wyatt stepping out of the office, dressed in the latest season’s Chanel suit.
Seeing Evelyn, Winnie Wyatt’s expression faltered for a moment, then she said, somewhat unnaturally, "Ah, Director, you’re back. How come you didn’t give a heads up?"
As the CEO’s chief secretary, it was inappropriate for her to speak, so she simply rolled her eyes sarcastically and went into the office to see if Shane had any instructions.
Winnie Wyatt’s face turned a bit frosty at the eye-roll, but her sweet, adorable appearance meant even with a cold face, it wasn’t very intimidating.
Evelyn, however, quite enjoyed seeing Winnie Wyatt’s cold face, reminded her of how cute Sharon looked when upset.
Seeing Winnie’s slightly puffed-up cheeks, Evelyn felt in quite a good mood, "You’re heading back now, right? Perfect, let everyone know to meet in the conference room in half an hour, I’ll hold a meeting."
Winnie Wyatt acknowledged flatly and left.
Evelyn didn’t care much, and once the chief secretary came out, she went into the office.
