Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 7: I Want to Break Off the Engagement
CHAPTER 7: CHAPTER 7: I WANT TO BREAK OFF THE ENGAGEMENT
"You shameless! How did I end up raising such a shameless daughter?" Charlotte Sterling raised her hand, pointing at Evelyn Clayton, and cursed, "Do you know how difficult arranging your marriage with the Grant Family was? How dare you mingle with other men? Apologize to Marcus right now!"
Evelyn Clayton glanced over at Matthew Sullivan and Iris Lockwood sitting side by side on the sofa, not bothering to figure out who tattled.
Being so close, can Charlotte Sterling really not see the hints between them?
Moreover, wasn’t Charlotte Sterling aware that Matthew Sullivan was mingling with women while holding the title of her fiancé?
Probably not.
But in the past, Charlotte Sterling never stood up for Evelyn Clayton’s happiness from a mother’s standpoint, nor did she suggest breaking off the engagement with Matthew Sullivan.
Now, worried about losing the Grant Family’s resources due to a falling out with Matthew Sullivan, Charlotte Sterling is getting anxious, isn’t this ridiculous?
Indeed, over the years, the Lockwood Family grew from a small logistics company into the Zenith Logistics Group covering a third of Crestholm’s logistics market, all thanks to the Grant Family’s support.
The Grant Family is like a towering tree; even the extras leaked from its fingers are considerable, so how could the Lockwood Family give up such benefits?
"Want me to apologize to you?" Evelyn Clayton looked at Matthew Sullivan with a half-smile and then at Iris Lockwood beside him.
Her expression seemed to say, "You’re in no position to ask for my apology."
Matthew Sullivan’s face changed slightly; he opened his mouth but could only say hatefully, "Just tell me who that wild man is, and I’ll pretend this never happened, otherwise..."
"Ha ha..." Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help but chuckle, "Matthew Sullivan, you don’t have the right to look down on me, and I don’t need your forgiveness."
Matthew Sullivan’s face changed slightly, thinking Evelyn Clayton was hinting at their engagement, which he had no right to intervene.
Even if he’s really upset about this matter, unless Evelyn Clayton agrees, he doesn’t have the right to break the engagement.
But who knew, Evelyn Clayton withdrew her expression and coldly said,
"I won’t act like nothing happened, our engagement, terminated."
"Evelyn Clayton..." Matthew Sullivan suddenly stood up from the sofa, his flailing arm directly hitting Iris Lockwood’s eye next to him.
Iris Lockwood was overjoyed at Evelyn Clayton’s words, and the next second was shouting in pain, covering her eye with tears welling up.
"Marcus, it hurts."
Matthew Sullivan didn’t even look at her, just stared at Evelyn Clayton with a nonchalant face, speaking word by word through gritted teeth:
"Terminate the engagement? I don’t agree, and my father won’t agree either."
"Matthew Sullivan, get well if you’re sick." Evelyn Clayton frowned, truly puzzled, "All these years you’ve caused so much trouble just trying to force me to break off the engagement. Now I agree to end it, and you’re dissatisfied?"
Matthew Sullivan gritted his jaw, silent but staring fixedly at her.
"Evelyn, you’re still too young; you tend to act impulsively." Philip Lockwood, having enough of watching the drama, pretended to mediate.
His gaze held a different meaning, wandering over Evelyn Clayton, making her feel nauseous.
"Marriage is a big deal, it can’t be impulsive, it’s necessary to consider carefully, I don’t support breaking the engagement."
After speaking, he gave Charlotte Sterling a meaningful look.
Evelyn Clayton didn’t wait for Charlotte Sterling to speak, directly sneering:
"Whether you support it or not is irrelevant to me; breaking the engagement is my own business, you have no right to interfere."
"Evelyn Clayton? Is that how you speak to your father?"
Charlotte Sterling’s brows furrowed, habitually raising her hand, once again wanting to slap Evelyn Clayton.
