Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 95: Was It Just My Imagination?
CHAPTER 95: CHAPTER 95: WAS IT JUST MY IMAGINATION?
"Great."
James Grant snapped back to reality and patted the back of her head.
Once the thrill had subsided, she realized how ambiguous their current posture was, and she quickly bounced out of James Grant’s embrace and adjusted her hat.
"I want to ski on my own for a while."
James Grant agreed silently, and like a clumsy penguin, she moved forward little by little.
Gradually, Evelyn Clayton fell in love with the sport, reveling in the feeling of freely controlling speed and direction.
Even leaving, she was still thinking about it.
"Did you see the last slope I went down? That was the steepest one I tackled today!"
After the exercise, Evelyn Clayton’s cheeks were rosy, with undisguised excitement in her tone.
"I saw. You skied really well. Are you hungry? There’s a food street nearby, I’ll take you to get something to eat."
Evelyn Clayton looked at him in surprise, "You also go to food streets to eat?"
James Grant chuckled and tapped her smooth forehead with his curled finger, using only a bit of strength, "I’m also human, I need to eat too."
"I thought Eldest Young Master Grant only ate at five-star hotels."
"All food is the same, only the method of cooking and the person cooking it are different. The food on a food street isn’t necessarily worse than in a five-star hotel."
"Agreed."
...
The food street was bustling, with all kinds of snacks everywhere.
Evelyn Clayton’s gaze was caught by a skewer of candied haws.
She slowed her pace and mumbled to herself.
"I haven’t had these in ages."
Ever since her father passed away, she hadn’t eaten them. No one had bought her candied haws since.
James Grant didn’t say much, silently paid, "Don’t eat too many, it’ll upset your stomach."
Evelyn Clayton liked sweets, and the sweet coating made her eyes squint with joy.
She bit off one and put it into her mouth, then handed the rest to James Grant’s mouth.
"You have some."
James Grant ate one from her hand, his eyes reflecting Evelyn Clayton’s smiling face, he nodded.
"Very sweet."
The rare harmonious atmosphere between the two made the chatting and strolling enjoyable.
Suddenly, Evelyn Clayton spotted a familiar figure, and she immediately stopped walking.
Wasn’t that Iris Lockwood?
And the man beside her wasn’t Marcus, it was Sheldon Zane.
James Grant followed her gaze, seeing her staring intently at that man, and frowned in displeasure.
"What are you looking at?"
Evelyn Clayton made no effort to hide it, introducing him, "That’s my high school classmate, Sheldon Zane."
She, Sheldon Zane, and Iris Lockwood went to the same high school.
Sheldon Zane sat at the table behind her, and usually, they got along well. When Iris Lockwood bullied her, Sheldon Zane would silently keep her company.
After graduation, they lost touch, occasionally liking each other’s posts on social media.
Unexpectedly, Sheldon Zane was walking the food street with Iris Lockwood.
"Iris, have a bite. You haven’t eaten for a while, you’ll be starving."
Sheldon Zane held a plate of fried rice, scooping a spoonful, beseeching Iris Lockwood with his eyes to take a bite.
Iris Lockwood gave him no face, covering her nose in distaste, looking at the fried rice, "It’s so greasy, how can I eat that? Who knows if it’s got bacteria!"
"What do you want to eat? I’ll buy it for you."
"No. I want to go home and rest quickly."
"Alright."
Sheldon Zane could only coax her while heading towards the parking lot.
Iris Lockwood covered her nose in disdain, "What is that smell? It’s awful, let’s leave quickly."
But Sheldon Zane suddenly glanced at the candied haw vendor.
"Are you coming or not? What are you daydreaming about?"
"Nothing. Let’s hurry and go."
Was he seeing things?
Sheldon Zane composed himself and left with his arm around Iris Lockwood’s shoulder.
