CHAPTER 698: CHAPTER 560: THE DISAPPEARING GIANT PANDA

A fully grown giant panda charged down from the mountaintop and then stopped not too far away, beginning to howl madly.

But it wasn’t howling at the mother giant panda, rather at Leopard Sister and her group.

"What’s going on? Is this giant panda the mate of the mother giant panda?"

"No, probably not." Chen Ying listened carefully for a moment and picked up the word "mama" from the howls.

Seeing that Leopard Sister and her group refused to leave, the howling giant panda charged straight over, standing in front of the mother panda.

Pandas will bark when frightened, bleat when in need, but howling indicates they are in attack mode.

Leopard Sister watched it for a while, then slowly retreated, but didn’t completely leave.

The howling giant panda was not as agitated as the mother panda, and once it realized Leopard Sister had no intention of attacking, it calmed down a bit, but still stayed in front of the mother panda without leaving.

It calmed down, but the mother panda didn’t.

Upon discovering the scent of other animals coming and going in her cave, the mother panda visibly began to go berserk again.

Chen Ying noticed that the mother panda’s emotions weren’t quite right; normally, if a threat was detected, she would take her cub to leave, or deal with the scent of surrounding predators and cover it with her own scent.

This mother panda didn’t take any of the normal actions, instead displaying stress reactions like slapping the ground, tree trunks, and howling up to the sky.

"No way, we must stop her, and we have to hurry to rescue the panda cub."

Chen Ying thought that they couldn’t wait any longer; every extra minute waited could reduce the chances of rescuing the panda cub.

"I’ll go out first to try and divert the panda, then you all find a chance to get the cub out."

"Brother Ying, are you sure you can do it alone? How about I go with you?"

"No need, I have another way, you all coordinate and move fast."

Chen Ying slowly walked out, and his appearance made the two giant pandas instantly alert as they stared at him.

"Hey, what are you doing coming out?" Leopard Sister’s long tail wrapped around Chen Ying’s leg, "These two big guys don’t seem to be reasonable."

"Is there any way to lure them away?"

Leopard Sister calmly watched the other side for a moment, "Let’s give it a try!"

She stomped the ground and charged over, but didn’t aim for vital points; instead, she cleverly collided with the newly arrived giant panda.

In terms of combat skills, giant pandas aren’t weak, but Leopard Sister’s experience was evidently much richer, plus she didn’t want to fight to the death with the giant panda; her goal was to lure it away, giving it plenty of room to maneuver.

The years of camaraderie between Jinya and Leopard Sister weren’t for nothing; from Leopard Sister’s angle of attack, Jinya instantly understood her purpose.

Leopard Sister and Jinya ganged up on the giant panda; one-on-one they might have lost, but with two against one, they couldn’t see a reason to lose.

Although the giant panda was very reluctant to leave, once the fight started, it couldn’t control the situation; soon enough, Leopard Sister and Jinya lured it away.

The agitated mother giant panda looked at the scuffle among the few cats somewhat dazedly, then turned her head toward Chen Ying, baring her teeth viciously, her gaze locked on him.

Chen Ying originally wanted to communicate well with it, but now it seemed he might have to resort to the "Flying Needle."

Just as he retrieved the blowpipe from his waist, he heard two panda roars, and it seemed the sounds were getting closer.

"Why are these two guys coming as well? Did Big Gold get them?"

Rushing over in a cloud of dust were the Street Rat and Crazy Gun Gun, with a familiar cat trailing behind.

"Hey, Two-legged beast, Big Gold has also come to help you." This guy didn’t forget to show his presence before joining the battle.

Compared to the slicker Big Gold, the Street Rat and Crazy Gun Gun were much more direct.

The Street Rat dashed over to take over Leopard Sister and Jinya’s fight, rolling the giant panda down the mountain without any courtesy.

Since they both had thick skin and flesh, it was easier for the Two-legged beast to act if they rolled a bit further.

Crazy Gun Gun then bleated several times at the mother panda, but the response was still howling.

Crazy Gun Gun didn’t hold back, pouncing over to wrestle with the mother panda.

In the animal kingdom, there is still a significant strength gap between sexes, the mother panda was formidable, but Crazy Gun Gun seemed to have the upper hand, and its bites showed no mercy, making the mother panda howl in pain.

"Take it easy, go easy, don’t injure her."

Chen Ying spoke while putting away the Flying Needle, then dashed straight for the cave.

The mother panda noticed Chen Ying’s movement and became even more agitated, even ignoring being bitten by Crazy Gun Gun, preferring to tear her wound to try to stop Chen Ying.

"No good, at this rate, she’ll get into trouble." A thought flashed through Chen Ying’s mind, he brought out the Flying Needle again, didn’t even need to aim, and with a blow, the anesthetic needle pierced the mother panda’s body.

With the anesthetic needle in front, and the strong suppression of the male panda behind, eventually, the mother panda was brought down.

After it fell, several other team members quickly rushed over to help Chen Ying drag the panda cub out of the cave.

The cub was not even a year old, its body soft, and its breathing very weak.

Chen Ying picked it up and after a rough check, moved to a slightly distant place for a detailed examination.

"No external injuries... bones are good... temperature’s a bit high... there’s a bump on the back of the head, suspect it hit a hard object while fleeing."

With limited equipment for field checks, Chen Ying could only rely on his experience to make judgments.

"It’s likely a combination of being overly frightened and a mild concussion from the impact, needs to be transferred out immediately for a brain CT to confirm if there’s intracranial bleeding."
