“Aunt Wang? Aunt Li?” Susu exclaimed in surprise.

Jiang Nan smiled and nodded, “Yes, they are the mothers of your brother’s construction workers. What’s going on here?”

Susu scratched her head awkwardly, “Well, sorry Aunt Wang, Aunt Li. Someone suddenly came up to talk to us, and we thought our kids had run into a human trafficker.”

“Haha… I was wondering.”

Both aunts laughed heartily, patting their thighs. No wonder they felt the young daughter-in-law was a bit unresponsive, thinking she had encountered a human trafficker.

The two aunts finally got to touch the soft, slippery cheeks of the little dumpling.

After some pleasantries, Jiang Nan and Susu took the six children back home, planning to come out to play again after the midday sun had passed.

By the time they got home, they were drenched in sweat.

The two adults quickly heated some water, wiped the sweat from their bodies, and changed the triplets into vests and shorts.

Casually, they washed and hung out the children’s clothes.

Having tidied up, Susu fanned herself as she leaned against the headboard, the fan stirring the hot air.

Tianyu lay inside next to his brother, sweating himself, yet still focused on fanning his younger siblings.

“Xiao Yu, don’t just look after your brother and sisters. Look how sweaty you are,” Susu hurriedly fanned her eldest son vigorously.

“Hahaha… Mom, it’s so refreshing.”

“Mom, fan a bit harder.”

Xiao Yu, grinning, enjoyed the ‘Mom-brand’ breeze. “Yes, I know, mom. You fan yourself too.”

Before long, the usually noisy little brothers were all fast asleep, as peacefully as little pigs.

Susu, dozing off, barely managed to keep fanning herself before she too fell asleep.

She slept until after three in the afternoon.

When Susu woke up, she saw that the triplets had perspired so much that their pillows were drenched.

Worried that the triplets had slept too much and wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, Susu used a warm towel to wipe their faces, necks, and arms.

After warming up, the coolness followed. Once everyone was ready, Susu and Jiang Nan took the six siblings out to play.

Along the way, the two adults led the six kids just like walking dogs, drawing the attention and gathering of many passersby.

There were also many elderly men and women admiring the chubby, fair arms of the triplets, plump as lotus root nodes, rosy skin peeking through.

When Brother Lu got off work, only then did the two sisters-in-law return home with six radish-headed children.

Even though they returned via tricycle, Susu felt her legs had slimmed down from all the walking, too exhausted to even want to move from the stool.

Ironically, the three little ones who had been so tired and lethargic on the road were instantly revived upon reaching home, chattering non-stop with their uncle.

Old mother Susu covered her face, supporting her head in her hand, even the usually quiet Pingping had become talkative, influenced by his chatty siblings.

Brother Lu nodded, patiently listening to each triplet recount their exciting day, the two daughters chiming in from time to time.

Having not seen such lively and vivid sides of his daughters for a long time, Brother Lu was genuinely delighted, couldn’t help but laugh and asked,

“Little brother and sisters, do Pingping, An’an, and Lele talk this much at home too?”

Susu, somewhat helplessly yet amusedly, nodded, “Pretty much, brother.”

After dinner, the whole family sat at the door to enjoy the breeze and chat.

The next morning, Susu heard some noise from next door and couldn’t sleep anymore due to the heat.

Looking at the four children sleeping soundly, she got up, locked the door, and went next door to offer help,

“Elder sister-in-law, let me help—”

“No need, Second Sister-in-law, you go back and rest,” Brother Lu said, busy at work. “This is all because the kids moved to a new place; the previous rented house couldn’t fit so many people.

Second Sister-in-law, go rest. When Xiao Yu and Xiao Xue wake up, we’ll head over. I won’t be home at noon. Would you like me to leave some food for you, or will you take the kids out to eat?”

Susu said, “Elder sister-in-law, no need; I’ll take the kids out to eat. It’s a good opportunity to try various local delicacies.”

Bored out of her mind, Susu looked down, scratching here and there, and then noticed that just yesterday, the skin that had been exposed turned red.

Susu???

Since Brother Lu and Eldest Sister-in-law Lu were not home for work, Susu took a bunch of kids out for breakfast, and then leisurely began her tour of Yangcheng—the first stop, strolling around the mall.

“Mom, that looks beautiful on you.”

Initially planning just to browse and focusing mostly on eating, Susu ended up buying a large bag of clothes on her kids’ recommendation.

Cough cough, and of course, some gifts for the family.

In the following days, Susu spent her mornings playing with six kids on a leash until noon, then during the sweltering afternoons, she lay at home resting and helping her two nieces with their homework.

“You three be good, don’t disturb your sisters’ homework.”

The triplets, sweaty from running around, blinked their big eyes and grinned, pointing at their elder brother.

“Mom, why doesn’t big brother have to do homework?”

Susu glanced at her eldest son, who was reading his sisters’ books, and laughingly swatted his little butt.

“Big brother finished his homework at home; now he’s just reading. If you three keep chattering, watch out, I’ll spank you.”

The triplets immediately covered their butts and, holding their mouths, ran to the bed.

Xiao Yu, looking at his adorable siblings, took out the colored pens his mom had just bought him from his backpack and found a blank notebook. “Brothers and sisters, you can draw.”

“Oh, thank you, sister, you’re the best.”

Susu facepalmed, the tricky little trio advised to be careful, and not to make a mess.

The three little ones dashed to the dining table with their notebooks and colored pens to draw.

The room instantly quieted down, except for the sound of Susu helping the nieces with their homework.

Mother and children spent over half a month, with those who went out daily tanning significantly.

The day before leaving, Jiang Nan stayed home from business to look after the kids, and Susu made a trip to the wholesale market.

The market already had lots of autumn clothes in stock; this time, she only stocked up on autumn clothes, not picking any summer ones.

It was already August, and it wouldn’t be hot for much longer in Meng Province; by the end of September and the start of October, it would cool down, needing long pants and long-sleeved tops even outside of the midday heat.

Susu spent 20 yuan to hire two honest folks who followed her around with a cart to stock up and then delivered the goods to the train station, making sure everything was settled for tomorrow’s train ride she would take.

She called home to report she’d be back by tomorrow’s train.

In the evening, the entire family went out for dinner.

The next day, from morning till waking up, the siblings stuck together, chatting, and reluctantly agreed to call each other once a week.

With help from the enthusiastic staff, Susu held one child in her arms and another on her back, with Lele strapped to Xiao Yu’s chest, mother and children headed into the station and boarded the train early.
