From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon
Chapter 34: Is that really a monster?
CHAPTER 34: IS THAT REALLY A MONSTER?
Something was getting closer to us but it wasn’t really easy to see right now. I’ve learned to stay cautious about everything since monsters appeared.
Even with this power I won’t be dumb about this, I need to see what the hell is coming towards us.
"Ghost can you notice anything about them?" I ask while staring ahead.
"They don’t look like a monster and seem to be wearing some nice clothing." Ghost responds with a bit of a confused tone.
Wearing nice clothing in a place like this? Why would anybody be in the wasteland with that kind of attire, that doesn’t make any sense to me.
"Hmm. That does bring back some memories for me." Lilly says softly, her usual attitude completely gone.
I don’t know if I was supposed to hear what she just said but it’s not like it’s loud out here or anything. It’s pretty easy to hear any of us without being too loud.
As they got closer I could kind of see the figure of a person forming before me. They were wearing some clothes you’d see nobles wearing in medieval stories or even some sort of fantasy story.
They looked younger, had long straightened green hair, and appeared to have some sort of sword at their side too.
It could possibly be a hunter with that kind of appearance right? I don’t think monsters carry weapons usually or at least not the ones we’ve dealt with.
Then again we are in the wasteland so I don’t really know what to expect out here.
Don’t worry about them.
How can you say that? We haven’t even had a conversation with them yet to know if they are a threat or not.
Just trust me.
Whatever I’ll trust you for the time being but I don’t know anything about the person or monster approaching us.
It only took a little longer for them to reach the outpost and their green eyes locked onto Lilly immediately. It was another girl? What kind of luck have I been given with meeting all these women lately.
"You really want a demon with you?" The girl questions with a soft tone.
She speaks softly and kind of quiet if I’m being honest but that’s a nice change of pace compared to Lilly. The bigger issue at hand though... She can see that Lilly has horns.
"I’ve been helping them." Lilly speaks up with more of a serious tone.
"Why does it matter if she’s a demon or not? I ask after Lilly speaks.
Her eyes locked onto me the moment I spoke and one of her hands gripped the hilt of her sword. "You’re a threat as well. But demons are usually chaotic and kill for the fun of it." She answers with the same tone as before.
It seems she’s just going to be soft spoken no matter how she responds, how interesting is that.
"We all hunt monsters, are you a hunter?" I ask while ignoring her comment about me.
"Tch. Of course I do but I’m not one of your so called ’hunters’." She responds while lifting her hand off the hilt.
People can fight without being considered a hunter but it makes it easier to identify people if they are considered one. Most guilds probably register the hunters into a database for all the guilds to access.
"Um... Who are you?" Ghost takes a step forward before asking.
"Velia Strann. But just Velia is fine." She answers without any hesitation.
Velia Strann, that’s quite a name. I don’t think I’ve encountered anyone with such a unique name in a good while. She also doesn’t seem like she’s from around here at all.
Hehehe. This is going to be interesting.
What are you laughing about Rika? What’s so interesting about this right now...?
You’ll find out.
"Who are all of you?" Velia asks while staring blankly at us.
"I’m Rokuro, that’s ghost and Lilly." I answer while gesturing to each of them when saying their names.
Her expression still seems to be blank as she just stares at us for a few more moments. "I’ll try to remember those names. Are you heading towards the rumbling?" Velia asks with a bit of curiosity.
I haven’t heard any sort of rumbling so I don’t really know what she’s talking about. Did something happen while I was asleep or was that during the time in the dungeon?
There’s no way I’d forget something like that so it had to be during one of those times.
My thoughts were interrupted immediately after the ground started to shake, almost like an earthquake was happening but it was brief. It didn’t last very long, only a couple of seconds before it stopped.
"We weren’t originally. What is it?" I ask.
"The Tower has started rising." Velia answers immediately.
The tower? I’m discovering that I have more and more questions as this girl talks to us but maybe heading for that tower will be useful.
Towers! How fun.
You seem to know about them already so why don’t you clue me in here.
Nope.
"What about the quest?" Lilly chimes in.
"The tower sounds like it could be more important for now." I answer while looking back towards Velia.
I’m willing to bet that Velia is the one that people reported to the guild after enough times passing by the entrance to the wasteland. At least that’s just my guess for the time being until we happen to see something different.
"Hmm. I’ll lead the way there then, just don’t make me regret it." She says while walking past us.
Her tone didn’t change once during that entire conversation... Even when she seemed curious it was still that soft spoken tone. Maybe she is just a quiet person.
Either way it felt better to follow her until we got to the tower since it could be a bigger problem than the humanoid monster. The only problem was that the sun was going down.
