From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon
Chapter 8: Recovery (2)
CHAPTER 8: RECOVERY (2)
I brought the sword into the room that ghost was sitting in, noticing her gaze out the slit in the window.
Seems she understands that we need to keep an eye out for any other monsters since I just killed two of them. Usually it brings up the number of them around for a brief while.
I can’t understand what draws them back here after one dies but I do know that it’s best to observe. Fighting without anything special makes it very difficult to live in this world regardless.
"Ghost I have something for you." I say while extending my hand out with the sword.
I watched as her gaze shifted from the window to the sword in my hand.
It caught me off guard when tears started to stream down her face, cyborgs can cry? I’m learning more and more about how human she really is.
"It’s really for me..?" She asks with a softness in her voice.
This is the first time I’ve made something for someone in a long time and I can’t say that I regret it. Ghost is bound to be pretty good with a sword since she’s got a lot more combat training than me.
Even if she can’t remember everything... It should be like muscle memory right?
"Of course it’s for you. I wanted to make you a weapon." I respond with a genuine tone.
This is the perfect opportunity to venture out past the junkyard and into the central city of Ashvalis. Well, tomorrow would be better since I need to make sure I have everything for the trip.
Answers won’t be in this junkyard, I’ve known this for years now. The best place for me to try and find my true purpose lies within the dungeons.
A place like that might be a bit harder for me to get access to so I’ll have to look for the guild in Central Ashvalis. I’m not a hunter though so that might prove to be a problem for me.
No talent.
That’s another thing to take into consideration when going for a dungeon after this. What can I do if I’m over run by a bunch of monsters in the dungeon?
No power.
Powers don’t exist within my body either so that’s also out of the question... A wrench won’t be a sufficient enough weapon either.
My thoughts are interrupted as Ghost takes the sword out from my hand. "Thank you. It feels perfect. A sword just for me, I’ll do my best to help if we encounter anything.." Ghost says with appreciation in her voice, followed by a bit of shakiness.
"That’s all I ask, just do your best." I reply before leaning back against the wall.
These wounds might also be the death of me if I’m not too careful. The blood loss alone could be fatal so I need to avoid losing any blood if possible.
"Are you okay Rokuro?" Ghost asks with concern in her voice.
I could hear my heartbeat echoing like drums, why was I hearing it so loudly now?
Pushing myself so soon after waking up was probably a terrible idea but I figured I’d be fine since it’s been a couple of days now. I’ll have to pack early in the morning after I get some rest.
"Just a bit tired." I answer while forcing myself off the wall.
Without another word I made my way back to my bedroom and laid down on the bed. There was no better medicine than rest, at least I wish that was all it took.
I’m sure ghost is worried about me with these injuries but I’ll be fine. Recovery in a few days without magic, advanced tech, or even a talent is slow. That’s something I should’ve thought about in the first place but it slipped past me.
Everything went dark around me as I drifted off into the dark abyss, a place I often found myself lately. It disappears as fast as it arrives for the most part.
The night flew by without a problem and the little bit of sunlight that there is began to shine through the slits in the windows.
Seems I’m still alive and breathing so I need to pack everything up for the journey today. I’d like to make it to the central part of the city before nightfall arrives since the monsters lurk in the shadows.
The central part of the city is a bit more guarded so it shouldn’t be as bad for us when we get there. I’m more concerned about the looks I’ll get since my appearance alone speaks "Junker".
I pushed through the pain and packed everything that I would need for the journey through the city. Taking whatever Silvite I had since everything else was useless for money.
"I figured you were awake, I heard stuff moving in here." Ghost says after opening the door.
"Yeah, I want to head for the central part of the city today." I reply while lifting my bag up.
Tch. I felt the pain from my stomach as I lifted it up but it was now thrown on my back. A nice backpack for what little stuff I had.
"Maybe we should clean you up a bit." Ghost suggests while staring at me.
I glanced at the mirror, taking in my dirty clothes, greasy hair, and the blood that was bleeding through the bandages.
"Probably right." I agree with her as I sit the backpack down.
"I’ll help you clean up." Ghost says before grabbing some stuff.
I noticed that she grabbed a bucket of water and some soap before coming over to me.
I won’t complain about her helping me clean up since she’s just returning the favor for everything I’ve done. It’s nothing crazy... At least I shouldn’t think of it that way.
She helped clean my wounds and me in general since it would be bad to keep reopening the wounds. It was different since I was used to cleaning myself but this kind of felt nice.
"And viola, the new bandages are on and a bit better than my first time." Ghost says with a bit of excitement.
I looked down to see that they were a bit more proper than before. Wrapped as if a medic them self did it for me, not just a bunch of crap thrown together.
It also shocked me that I still had some products left for personal hygiene but I can’t complain about it. I don’t like smelling to begin with so I’ll definitely take it any day.
"Thanks Ghost." I reply with an appreciative tone.
It didn’t take too long to clean up so we should have plenty of time to start our travels.
