Chapter 89: Bonus
CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: BONUS
Jiang Xin looked at Lin Ye, thinking she needed to quickly set some rules for him, so he would come on time every day.
Then she recalled how Lin Ye’s first reaction upon seeing her was to think he was late, and he apologized.
Jiang Xin suddenly realized it might be because Lin Ye didn’t have a watch, so he had no idea what time it actually was.
That’s why, upon seeing her, his first reaction was to think he was late.
Jiang Xin thought, when she has time tomorrow, she needs to find a watch from the storage to give to Lin Ye.
Let him arrive at the market at nine every day, exactly on time, not a minute early.
Jiang Xin thought to herself.
On Lin Ye’s side, hearing Jiang Xin’s words, he was a bit taken aback; he didn’t expect he wasn’t late.
This was truly unexpected for Lin Ye.
He actually had a quartz clock at home, and he had checked the time before leaving, accounting for the travel time on the road before heading out.
Because he had walked this road from the village to the town countless times over the years.
So, the time he anticipated was very accurate, which is why he hesitated when he saw Jiang Xin.
However, his first reaction was still to think he was late; otherwise, why would Jiang Xin have arrived so much earlier than him?
And besides, he was the one employed by Jiang Xin.
The boss arriving before him, isn’t that something?
So, that’s why Lin Ye immediately apologized to Jiang Xin at first sight.
However, he didn’t expect that Jiang Xin didn’t blame him at all.
In fact, she even ordered him not to arrive early.
This was quite a novelty.
After all, in the past, Lin Ye had worked in the town before and encountered all kinds of bosses.
The most common type was those who exploited workers, wanting them to arrive two hours early every day to start working.
Moreover, they were very meticulous about salaries.
He used to work as a carpenter, making furniture for a furniture factory, like cabinets, tables, and stools.
Sometimes, if an extra screw was wasted, it would be deducted from their wages.
And not just that, his previous boss would find all sorts of ways to dock their pay during normal work.
Back then, many employees couldn’t stand it and, after enduring for some time, chose to resign.
Lin Ye was also very frustrated, wanting to quit, but he had no choice; he still had a family to support.
Moreover, his mother was ill at the time, and if he lost his job, there would be no income for the family.
However, unfortunately later on...
Lin Ye no longer wanted to dwell on those difficult days.
Thinking about it suffocated him.
He quickly pulled himself out of those memories, returning to reality.
Lin Ye looked at Jiang Xin, feeling tremendous gratitude towards her, as she was the person who gave him new hope.
Now he was very satisfied with his current job and didn’t want to lose it.
After hearing Jiang Xin’s words, Lin Ye quickly spoke, setting aside thoughts of the past, and hurriedly said:
"Okay, you’re the boss, you have the final say, I’ll listen to you."
"You want me to come at nine, I definitely won’t be early by a minute or late by a minute."
As Lin Ye spoke, he thought to himself, worst case, he’d come early and wander around the market area.
When it was almost nine, he’d come over to find Jiang Xin.
As long as Jiang Xin didn’t notice, it would be fine.
Seeing the time was about right, Lin Ye glanced at the bag in Jiang Xin’s hand, and without hesitation, took those burlap sacks from her hand, hoisting them all onto his shoulder at once. Then he said to Jiang Xin:
"Let’s go quickly, it’s getting late, let’s get to the market early and start selling."
"Time waits for no one, if we keep dawdling here, we could have sold quite a lot of stuff by now."
With that, Lin Ye turned and walked away carrying the bag.
Jiang Xin was momentarily stunned, not expecting Lin Ye to be so much more enthusiastic than her when it came to working; someone who didn’t know might have thought Lin Ye was the boss.
Jiang Xin laughed, wanting to joke a bit, but on second thought, Lin Ye was right too.
After all, their time at the market every day was already not early.
If they wasted more time here, it would impact their sales, wouldn’t it?
Moreover, the market’s peak flow was around this time; if the market had only a few people left, it would also affect their sales.
So, Jiang Xin didn’t say anything, choosing silence and following behind Lin Ye, as the time indeed should not be wasted anymore.
Hurrying to set up the stall was the right thing to do.
But considering that yesterday’s end time was a bit too early, today Jiang Xin prepared three large sacks, three times more than yesterday when taking stock from storage.
Jiang Xin thought that since they were already here, they might as well sell more to not waste the valuable time.
Besides, ending at twelve was really too early in the long term, not that she minded, but Lin Ye might also feel embarrassed.
After all, yesterday, when they finished, Lin Ye even suggested continuing to set up the stall, but Jiang Xin declined.
But it couldn’t be right to let him work overtime for nothing.
Jiang Xin saw Lin Ye’s hard work, and since he was a satisfactory employee, she planned to give him a raise, as compensation for overtime.
Of course, these were Jiang Xin’s private thoughts; she hadn’t mentioned them to Lin Ye yet.
After these two days, Jiang Xin had some understanding of Lin Ye; he was quite honest and wouldn’t cut corners.
If she gave him a raise out of nowhere, he definitely wouldn’t accept it.
So, Jiang Xin planned to give the amount as a bonus at the end of the month, telling him it would be a regular bonus.
