From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss
Chapter 13: Postnuptial Agreement
CHAPTER 13: CHAPTER 13: POSTNUPTIAL AGREEMENT
"Chairman Sinclair, I was wrong, I beg you, please don’t fire me!" Jessica Hart turned pale upon hearing the news and pleaded bitterly, imploring Chairman Sinclair not to fire her.
Chairman Sinclair remained unmoved, letting out a cold snort, "Offending President Hawthorne is equivalent to offending the Sinclairs; this matter is non-negotiable."
After speaking, Chairman Sinclair escorted Caden Hawthorne and his entourage out of the company.
Watching Caden Hawthorne’s departing figure, Vivian Lynch fell into deep thought.
Jessica Hart was in complete panic, with her hopes pinned solely on Sean Sinclair. She hurriedly grabbed his arm, urgently pleading, "President Sinclair, please help me! Could you plead with Chairman Sinclair not to fire me?"
Sean Sinclair sighed helplessly, "It’s my dad’s decision, and I can’t change it. After all, you offended President Hawthorne!"
After work, Vivian Lynch wandered aimlessly alone on the street, looking forlorn.
She didn’t know where she should go now, to the Hawthorne Family or back to the Lynch Family?
Either way, she didn’t want to go back, as if she had no home to return to.
Just then, a black Maybach stopped in front of her, with two crisp car honks following.
The sudden noise startled Vivian Lynch, and the car window rolled down. Sitting in the front driving seat was Caden Hawthorne’s assistant, Bryan Coleman, who waved at her with a bright smile, "Young Madam..."
Sitting in the back seat, Caden Hawthorne wore a stern face and commanded forcefully, "Get in."
Vivian Lynch hesitated for a moment but eventually obediently got into the car.
Caden Hawthorne shifted slightly to the side, making room for Vivian Lynch.
"Thank you," Vivian Lynch whispered her gratitude, then awkwardly turned her gaze out the car window.
Seeing Vivian Lynch avoiding his eye contact, Caden Hawthorne frowned slightly, "Are you afraid of me?"
Upon hearing this, Vivian Lynch turned her head and awkwardly smiled, "Not at all!"
"Then why are you sitting so far away? I don’t bite." Caden Hawthorne stated seriously, as if solemnly assuring her that he doesn’t bite.
Vivian Lynch bit her lip, lowered her head, and muttered to herself, "You say you don’t bite, but that night in bed, that’s not what you said."
Although Vivian Lynch had been drugged and her consciousness was blurry, she vaguely remembered him whispering repeatedly in her ear, "Be good, don’t cry, it won’t hurt soon."
That night, he tormented her repeatedly until she cried out in pain, yet he still claimed he doesn’t bite.
Hmph, all men are liars!
"What did you say?" Caden Hawthorne noticed her murmuring and had a strong feeling she was scolding him.
"Nothing, nothing." Vivian Lynch snapped out of her thoughts, quickly waving her hands, afraid that Caden Hawthorne would hear what she was thinking.
Suddenly, Caden Hawthorne reached out and grabbed her chin, forcing her to make eye contact with him, "Vivian Lynch, I just helped you; how do you plan to thank me?"
"Thank you, President Hawthorne, for getting me out of trouble at the company," Vivian Lynch said, looking at Caden Hawthorne’s enlarged handsome face and forcing a smile.
"Is that all?" Caden Hawthorne slightly frowned.
Vivian Lynch looked puzzled, "That’s all. How does President Hawthorne want me to thank him?"
Upon hearing this, Caden Hawthorne released her chin, coughed slightly, and looked somewhat uncomfortable.
Then he thought of something, and his expression instantly became serious, "I heard Sean Sinclair is your ex-boyfriend?"
When this was mentioned, Vivian Lynch didn’t plan to hide it and nodded, "Mm, we broke up two months ago."
Upon hearing this, Caden Hawthorne fell into deep thought.
So they broke up before he met her, which means after breaking up with Sean Sinclair, Vivian Lynch was set up for a blind date by her family, selling her to a greasy, fat man.
Thinking of this, Caden Hawthorne asked with a stern face, "Do you still like him?"
Hearing this, Vivian Lynch shook her head, "I stopped liking him long ago. It was him who pursued me initially, and I agreed under pressure. Who knew, less than a year into the relationship, he was flirting with others, cheating on me with my classmate, which wasn’t entirely unexpected. So, there’s nothing worth being sad about. Just a scumbag, not worth my affection."
Vivian Lynch didn’t know why she was telling Caden Hawthorne all this, maybe not wanting him to misunderstand!
Although she spoke nonchalantly, Caden Hawthorne felt that she had endured a lot of grievances.
Clearly, she was a vain woman, yet he began to feel some sympathy for her, even finding her a bit pitiful.
Caden Hawthorne thought this must be one of her tricks, first playing hard to get and now playing the victim.
Thinking this, Caden Hawthorne’s voice turned icy, "That’s good, since you’ve entered the Hawthorne Family, there are some things I need to make clear with you."
Upon finishing his sentence, Caden Hawthorne took out a pre-prepared agreement and handed it to Vivian Lynch.
"This is a post-marriage agreement, take a look."
Upon hearing this, Vivian Lynch became a bit nervous, instinctively reaching out to take it and started to read through it.
"First, in public, your words and actions represent the Hawthorne Family, and you must not do anything that would disgrace the Hawthorne Family’s reputation."
"Second, we are in a contractual marriage, and without my permission, you cannot make our relationship public."
"Third, after one year, once you have given birth to a child, we will divorce. I will give you one hundred million and a house as compensation for the divorce."
Upon seeing the last clause, Vivian Lynch’s eyes lit up. She might never earn a hundred million in her lifetime, right?
Indeed, the rich are extravagant, casually offering one hundred million and a house.
Vivian Lynch thought, she wouldn’t be losing out either. After a year, she’ll have a hundred million in divorce assets and a house, which would allow her to do so many things.
Seeing Vivian Lynch looking at the agreement, not the slightest bit unhappy but instead smiling joyfully.
Caden Hawthorne was puzzled; hadn’t she enticed him to marry her?
Now he proposed they divorce after a year, why was she so happy?
Shouldn’t she be crying and telling him, "Can we not divorce?"
"President Hawthorne, can I really get a hundred million and a house as compensation a year later?" Vivian Lynch held the agreement, looking up at Caden Hawthorne with a glint in her eyes.
Caden Hawthorne was speechless, thinking he had thought too much earlier, assuming she had changed.
This woman, from beginning to end, was all about his money.
"Mm, if you give birth to an heir for the Hawthorne Family, I certainly won’t shortchange you," Caden Hawthorne replied with a cold face, turning his head away, looking more displeased than before.
"But I heard, when a couple divorces, assets are divided. Does that mean I get a share of all the assets under President Hawthorne’s name?" Vivian Lynch blinked and asked with an earnest look on her face.
