CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: GIFTING MY WIFE A MILLION-DOLLAR JEWEL

"Don’t mind that kid, Grandpa had someone prepare a nutritious meal for you, come on, let’s give it a try."

Saying this, Grandpa Hawthorne took Vivian Lynch’s hand and headed towards the dining room.

Meanwhile, Caden Hawthorne was on his way home, with his assistant Bryan Coleman focused on driving in the front seat.

"President Hawthorne, are you sure you don’t need any ointment for the injury on your back?" Bryan Coleman cautiously maneuvered the steering wheel while occasionally checking the rearview mirror to observe Caden Hawthorne sitting in the back.

"No need." Caden Hawthorne replied indifferently, glancing at the exquisite gift box beside him, the corners of his mouth slightly curling up.

Seeing this, Bryan Coleman couldn’t help but tease, "President Hawthorne, so you spent such a fortune just to prepare a gift for the Young Madam!"

Hearing Bryan’s words, Caden raised an eyebrow, "Is there a problem?"

Bryan burst into a laugh, "No problem, it’s just, who else but you would spend ten million on a necklace without even frowning? Only you would, President Hawthorne."

Just now, their President Hawthorne actually bid ten million to buy this jewelry necklace.

Giving ten million without a second thought and not even batting an eyelid, it turned out it was to give this necklace as a gift to Vivian.

Nobody expected that their cold and aloof President Hawthorne would care so much about the Young Madam.

Caden Hawthorne stared at the exquisite gift box in silence.

Seeing that Caden wasn’t angry, Bryan grew bolder and continued, "President Hawthorne, ever since the Young Madam moved in, you’ve changed quite a bit. You used to always have such a cold expression, but now you occasionally smile."

Caden hummed lightly, "You’re all talk."

Although Caden spoke coldly, the softness in his eyes betrayed his true feelings.

The car soon stopped in front of the villa at Hartswell Manor. As soon as Caden got out, he quickly walked towards the villa with the gift in hand.

At this moment, Vivian and Grandpa Hawthorne were happily chatting and laughing in the dining room. When Vivian saw Caden return, the smile on her face quickly faded a bit.

"Caden’s back, come sit down and have some food," Grandpa Hawthorne waved at him with a smile.

"Mm." Caden responded flatly, walked over, and sat next to Vivian. A servant promptly came forward to prepare the tableware.

Caden handed the gift box to Vivian with an indifferent expression, "This is for you."

Vivian was somewhat surprised that Caden actually bought her a gift?

Old Master Hawthorne was also taken aback but soon showed a smile, glad that his grandson finally understood how to cherish his wife by buying her a gift.

"For me?" Vivian asked uncertainly, looking at Caden in surprise.

"Mm, open it and see."

Hearing this, Vivian hesitated and instinctively glanced across at Old Master Hawthorne.

Old Master Hawthorne smiled, "Since it’s a gift from Caden, go ahead and open it."

Upon hearing this, Vivian had no choice but to open the gift box under their watchful gazes.

A dazzling diamond necklace appeared before Vivian’s eyes, almost blinding her with its brilliance. Vivian couldn’t help covering her mouth, her eyes full of awe.

Old Master Hawthorne, upon seeing the necklace, knew that Caden had put in a lot of thought, and couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction.

"Caden, this gift is too precious. I can’t accept it," Vivian quickly closed the box and pushed the gift back.

However, Caden pushed the gift box back to her, "It’s not too expensive. You’ve been working hard lately. This is compensation for you, consider it my apology."

Caden indeed wanted to give Vivian a gift as an apology, hoping to make her happy.

After all, he had misunderstood her and said many hurtful things, causing her sadness.

"Actually, I’ve already forgotten about the past issues and never kept them in mind; you don’t have to apologize," Vivian said patiently.

"Besides, didn’t you already give me a jade bracelet? This necklace... I think it’s too much!" Vivian thought that the jade bracelet was already valuable enough, and now with a diamond necklace, once they divorced in the future, how would she return these to him?

"This is different." Caden frowned slightly. The jade bracelet last time was his grandmother’s heirloom, essentially a gift from Grandpa to his granddaughter-in-law.

But this gift was personally chosen by him for her; how could it be the same?

"Vivian, take the gift from Caden," Old Master Hawthorne said, speaking on Caden’s behalf, "You’re husband and wife now; giving each other gifts can help develop your relationship."

Hearing this, Vivian awkwardly smiled, her cheeks slightly reddening, "Okay, then I’ll pick a gift for you tomorrow."

Upon hearing that Vivian wanted to give him a gift, Caden’s heart unexpectedly leapt with a trace of anticipation, causing him to smile, "Alright."

Grandpa Hawthorne watched on, smiling broadly, "That’s right, young couples should be loving and affectionate."

After dinner, Caden headed upstairs first to meet with Bryan and resume work.

Vivian, with nothing to do, was worried that Caden might be too busy working to take care of the injury on his back, yet feared that she’d be intruding.

Thinking it over, Vivian decided to bring some post-dinner fruits to Caden’s study.

She knocked lightly on the door, Caden’s low voice came from inside, "Come in."

Upon opening the door, she saw Caden sitting behind the desk, his brow furrowed as he reviewed documents, while Bryan sat beside him, jotting down notes on a laptop.

"Young Madam," Bryan rose respectfully upon Vivian’s entrance.

Vivian quickly said, "You two go about your work; pay no mind to me."

She softly continued, "I brought some fruit for you."

With that, she silently placed the fruits on a side table.

Caden looked up at her and gave a slight nod, "Thank you."

After a moment’s hesitation, Vivian couldn’t help but ask, "Are you sure your wound is okay?"

Caden paused for a moment before responding, "It’s fine, just a minor injury."

Vivian bit her lip a little, offering concern, "Don’t overwork yourself, okay? No matter how important your work is, you have to take care of yourself too."

Upon hearing this, Caden was visibly taken aback; was she showing concern for him?

Realizing this, a tinge of joy surfaced in Caden’s heart.

"I should get going now so as not to disturb your work," Vivian said, feeling a bit awkward and unsure of herself. Since she couldn’t offer much help, she decided to leave.

Having said that, she turned to leave.

"Wait," Caden suddenly called after her.

Vivian stopped and turned back to look at him.

Caden gestured to a nearby chair, indifferently saying, "Sit with me for a while, keep me company while I rest."
