From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss
Chapter 42: Sister-in-law, You Like My Brother, Don’t You?
CHAPTER 42: CHAPTER 42: SISTER-IN-LAW, YOU LIKE MY BROTHER, DON’T YOU?
"Riley, what kind of naughty thoughts are running through your head?"
Unexpectedly, Caden Hawthorne flicked Riley on the head, "And you still have the nerve to talk, was it your dumb idea last night?"
Riley winced in pain and pouted, "Bro, I’m helping you out here. You’re almost thirty, and you finally have a wife. If you don’t sleep with her, who will you sleep with? Are you really planning to live a monk’s life?"
Previously, Caden did indeed think about being single for life.
But now, suddenly there was Vivian, and the two little babies in her belly, everything was changing.
He suddenly felt that marriage was pretty good, having someone by his side, he wouldn’t be so lonely.
"But speaking of it, you’ve already broken the monk’s vows, you can’t become a monk anymore." Riley chuckled playfully.
"This is an exception!" Caden pointed at her, but his face showed no sign of blame, instead he seemed quite happy.
As soon as he finished speaking, Caden went straight back to his room.
Watching this, Riley couldn’t help but purse her lips and mutter, "A man who says one thing and means another!"
After Caden returned to his room, he found himself involuntarily recalling the moments spent with Vivian Lynch just now.
His lips curled into a subtle smile, and a warm feeling welled up in his heart.
At this moment, Vivian was sitting on the bed in a daze, thinking about what had just happened, her cheeks suddenly flushed with a rosy tint.
Riley walked in at this time, waving to her with a smile, "Good morning, sister-in-law!"
"Good morning," Vivian nodded gently.
Riley leaned in, eyes squinting with curiosity, "Sister-in-law, did you and my brother sleep well last night?"
Vivian caught the scent of gossip from her, and blushed, "Pretty good."
"Sister-in-law, you like my brother, don’t you?"
Upon hearing this, Vivian instinctively touched her face, showing a shy girlish demeanor, "Is it that obvious?"
Riley saw Vivian’s reaction and laughed more joyously, "Of course it is, sister-in-law, your face is so red. But my brother likes you too, he treasures you a lot now."
Vivian felt warmth in her heart, and her lips curled up unconsciously, "Really?"
"Of course it’s true," Riley affirmed, "My brother has never been this attentive to any woman before. Sister-in-law, you and my brother have to keep this happiness going."
Vivian nodded, her eyes full of longing, "I’ll... I’ll try."
She really couldn’t promise that she and Caden would stay like this forever.
She also didn’t dare to believe that Caden liked her, and not just because of the babies in her belly.
She understood very well, she really had fallen, she liked Caden, liked his gentleness, liked his thoughtfulness, liked how he protected her so dominantly.
Just like Stella Fletcher said, if you like someone, you should express it bravely, so you won’t leave any regrets for yourself.
She could fool herself, but she couldn’t fool her heart.
Just then, Caden walked in, saw Riley and Vivian chatting happily, and frowned slightly.
"Riley, what are you talking about again?"
Riley cheekily stuck out her tongue, "Nothing, brother, I was just chatting with sister-in-law."
Caden gave her a helpless look, then walked over to Vivian, looking at her gently, "Are you hungry? Let’s go down for breakfast."
Vivian smiled and nodded, and Caden came over, naturally taking her hand, leading her downstairs.
Seeing this scene, Riley showed a satisfied smile.
In the first-floor dining room, Mrs. Hawthorne was already arranging the breakfast and utensils with the housemaids.
Seeing them coming, Mrs. Hawthorne quickly waved at Vivian, "Daughter-in-law, you must be hungry? Come sit and have breakfast."
"Alright," Vivian nodded obediently, and walked over with Caden to sit at the dining table.
"I specially asked the chef to make this nutritious soup to nourish your blood and energy. Vivian, drink more to avoid morning sickness."
"Thank you, Mom," Vivian looked at Mrs. Hawthorne with gratitude.
Mrs. Hawthorne turned to Caden, who was still standing dumbfounded, and immediately said, "Son, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and feed Vivian!"
"Mom, it’s okay, I can do it myself," Vivian quickly waved her hand in refusal as soon as she heard this.
Unexpectedly, Caden picked up the soup in front of her, scooped a spoonful, blew on it gently, and then brought it to Vivian’s lips.
"Drink slowly, careful, it’s hot."
Seeing Caden’s tenderness, Vivian was deeply moved and slightly opened her mouth to drink the soup Caden fed her.
Subsequently, a sweet smile appeared on her face. "It’s really good..."
Seeing this, Mrs. Hawthorne and Riley exchanged a glance and both showed a knowing smile.
"That’s the way it should be!"
After searching for several days, the police finally found the missing Jessica Hart in an abandoned factory.
She was in a coma, her whole body filthy, and Sean Sinclair took her to the hospital.
After Jessica was sent to the hospital, following the doctors’ urgent treatment, she finally began to wake slowly.
She opened her eyes, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings, her gaze filled with confusion and fear.
Sean Sinclair stayed by her bedside, and upon seeing her wake up, he smiled with relief.
"Jessica, you’re finally awake. How are you feeling? Is there anywhere you’re uncomfortable?"
Jessica looked at Sean Sinclair, tears instantly streaming down her face, "Sean, I thought I’d never see you again."
Sean gently held her hand and spoke softly, "Don’t be afraid, you’re safe now. Do you remember who kidnapped you?"
Upon hearing this, a hint of terror and fear flashed in Jessica’s eyes, "I... I don’t know. They wore masks. I was in the underground garage when I suddenly blacked out."
Jessica recalled what happened the day she was kidnapped, "When I woke up, my eyes were covered, and my hands and feet were tied."
At this point, Jessica couldn’t help but feel scared, tears streaming down her face. She said with grievance, "They hit me and said I had offended someone I shouldn’t have. Sean, do you think this could be Vivian Lynch’s doing?"
Upon hearing this, Sean Sinclair frowned and couldn’t help but say, "Vivian has a kind heart; she wouldn’t do something like ordering someone to kidnap you."
"Why not?" Jessica immediately protested, "She wants to get back at me. I just said a few bad things about her online, and she holds a grudge against me, hiring people to kidnap and beat me..."
Listening to Jessica, Sean’s face darkened, "Jessica, don’t speak recklessly. Vivian isn’t like that, I know her. She has no motive to do such a thing, and at this juncture, it wouldn’t benefit her. You should think about who else you might have offended recently, instead of suspecting Vivian."
However, Jessica wouldn’t listen, filled with resentment towards Vivian. "Who else could it be? She’s got a powerful backer now and must’ve ordered someone to avenge me. Sean, why do you always stand up for her? Are you still hung up on her?"
Sean sighed helplessly, "Jessica, I’m just discussing things as they are. Don’t be impulsive; we should calm down and analyze this situation carefully. Plus, even if you suspect Vivian, you have no evidence, so you can’t falsely accuse her."
Jessica bit her lip, her anger hard to quell. "I don’t care, I clearly heard those people call that man ’The Patriarch’ that day; he must be Vivian’s hidden supporter."
