Chapter 52: The Lynch Mother and Son Stir Up Trouble Again
CHAPTER 52: CHAPTER 52: THE LYNCH MOTHER AND SON STIR UP TROUBLE AGAIN
Riley Hawthorne wrinkled her nose and reluctantly said, "Mom, I don’t want to go to Hawthorne. Being watched over by my brother all day is too restrictive."
Caden Hawthorne raised an eyebrow slightly, "I’m supervising you for your own good. You’ve just returned to the country and aren’t familiar with the situation here. Being at Hawthorne will help you adapt faster."
Vivian Lynch watched the siblings bicker and smiled, smoothing things over, "Riley, going to Hawthorne isn’t a bad idea. With Caden there, you can learn a lot."
Riley Hawthorne pouted, "Sister-in-law, you always side with my brother. I don’t want to go. I want to find a job on my own to prove my ability."
Mrs. Hawthorne shook her head helplessly, "This child is so headstrong. But it’s good too. Let her experience the world and learn the hard way."
Caden Hawthorne gave Riley a serious look, "Since you want to find a job yourself, I won’t force you. But remember, if you encounter difficulties, tell me. Don’t handle it all on your own."
Riley nodded, "Got it, brother. Stop worrying about me and pay more attention to sister-in-law."
The family finished breakfast amidst laughter and cheer.
After breakfast, Caden accompanied Vivian for a walk in the garden, to digest and move around, which was also good for the baby in her belly.
"Master Hawthorne, something’s wrong..."
At this moment, Caden’s assistant, Bryan Coleman, hurried over with a worried face.
"What happened?" Caden frowned.
Bryan, panting, said, "Young madam..."
"Me?" Vivian saw Bryan looking at her, hesitating to speak, and asked in confusion, "What’s wrong with me?"
"It’s like this, Finn Lynch and your adoptive mother posted a video online accusing you of abandoning your parents after marrying into a wealthy family." As he spoke, Bryan handed a tablet to Vivian, "Young madam, see for yourself!"
Vivian took the tablet and watched the video, her face turning sour as she saw Finn Lynch and the adoptive mother’s vile expressions.
They sat there, holding their IDs, saying, "Hello everyone, I am Vivian Lynch’s adoptive mother. Beside me is my son, Finn Lynch. Today, we are publicly accusing Vivian Lynch and her wealthy husband, Caden Hawthorne..."
Vivian was so angry she trembled, and Caden, seeing this, wrapped an arm around her shoulders in comfort.
"Don’t get upset. People like that aren’t worth your anger." Caden’s voice was steady and strong, offering her a sense of security.
Vivian bit her lip, full of rage and grievance. "How can they do this? I never abandoned them. They always treated me like a money-making tool, never like a person. What right do they have to criticize us?"
Caden gently patted her back. "I’ll handle this. They dared to slander you, and I won’t let them get away with it."
Vivian looked at Caden worriedly, grabbing his hand, full of guilt, "Caden, I’m sorry for dragging you into this."
Caden looked at her tenderly, patted the back of her hand, and said, "Don’t worry, I can handle this little matter. Since they dare to do this, they must bear the consequences."
"President Hawthorne, now there’s a rumor online that you and your wife only married because of the baby, and they say she loves money and vanity, not worthy of you at all..."
At this point, Bryan’s voice trailed off.
Caden’s face darkened, and he turned to Bryan, instructing, "Collect evidence immediately and prep the PR team. I want them to pay for their actions."
Bryan nodded, "Yes, President."
Subsequently, Caden held Vivian’s hand tightly. "Don’t worry, I’m here."
Vivian was still a bit emotional, her whole body trembling.
Worried she might faint like last time, Caden quickly picked her up.
Vivian startled, "Caden, I’m fine, put me down."
"I’ll take you back to the room first," Caden said in a tone that brooked no refusal.
Vivian had no choice but to stay in his arms as he carried her back to the room.
Back in the room, Vivian still felt a bit restless.
Caden sat beside her, gently comforting, "Vivian, don’t overthink it. No one will believe what they say."
With red-rimmed eyes, Vivian sighed, "I just feel they’re too excessive. I gave so much to that family over the years, yet they never treated me as family."
Caden took her hand, softly saying, "Now you have me and our family. They can never hurt you again."
Under Caden’s calming presence, Vivian gradually regained her composure.
She knew, with Caden around, there was nothing to fear.
Thinking of this, Vivian couldn’t help but snuggle into his embrace.
Caden held her, gently patting her shoulder, "Good, don’t worry too much. I’ll handle this matter."
Then he stood up and instructed Riley Hawthorne, "Take good care of your sister-in-law, I’m going to the office."
Riley nodded, "Sure, brother, you go ahead!"
After Caden left, Riley sat next to Vivian, gently holding her hand. "Sister-in-law, don’t worry, brother will definitely handle this well. Those people are just jealous of you, don’t let them affect your mood."
Vivian nodded slightly, trying to calm herself down. "I know, I’m just worried this matter will impact your brother."
Riley comforted, "Sister-in-law, we just need to live our lives well. Aren’t you confident in my brother’s ability? Once he resolves this, let’s see if they dare to speak again."
In the luxury car, Bryan drove in the front seat while Caden dialed Zachary Sutton’s number.
"I must say, Master Hawthorne, you finally thought of me. The internet is blowing up. First, your hidden marriage news broke, then your sister-in-law got roasted, even her adoptive mother is denouncing her online, tsk tsk, she’s getting quite the harsh treatment online."
"Since you’re aware, you should understand why I’m calling you," Caden said calmly and steadily.
"Understood, I’ve already obtained Finn Lynch’s number for you. Recently, they’ve moved fearing you’d come knocking, no longer at their original address. However, I traced them online and found their current address. I’ll send it to you now."
With that, Zachary ended the call.
Shortly after, Caden received a message with a detailed address and phone number from Zachary.
"Mom, what do we do now? If Caden Hawthorne finds out, he definitely won’t let us off," Finn Lynch said nervously.
Mrs. Lynch was a bit scared but still stubbornly said, "What are we afraid of? Everything we said was true. Vivian Lynch forgot her roots after marrying rich. Besides, even if her husband is so powerful, can he hide the truth in all of Aethelgard?"
