From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss
Chapter 57: Vivian Is Fortunate to Have Met You
CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 57: VIVIAN IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE MET YOU
Riley Hawthorne pouted and immediately turned to complain to Mrs. Hawthorne, "Mom, look at Caden. Now that he has a wife, he doesn’t care about me, his sister, anymore."
Mrs. Hawthorne smiled and patted Riley’s hand, "Oh, don’t be mad at your brother. Once you have someone you like, you’ll understand that he’s just doting on his wife. Besides, your brother is doing this for your sake, urging you to find a boyfriend so someone will care for you too."
Riley snorted, "I don’t want to. I want to stay with Mom and Vivian forever."
Caden Hawthorne frowned slightly, "You’re old enough now, you should find a boyfriend. Aren’t you worried that people might talk about you, hanging around the house all day?"
Riley glared at Caden, "I like it this way, none of your business."
Vivian Lynch watched the siblings bicker, finding it quite amusing.
She tugged at Caden’s sleeve, "It’s okay, Riley is still young, there’s no rush for her to find a boyfriend."
Riley quickly nodded and hurried forward to link arms with Vivian, making a face at Caden and smiling, "Exactly, Vivian understands me, not like someone who forgets his sister when he sees a pretty face."
Caden gave Vivian a helpless look, "You’re the one who spoils her."
The weather that day was lovely.
Under Caden Hawthorne’s care, Mr. Lynch’s condition gradually improved, and he would soon be out of the hospital.
Caden accompanied Vivian as they bought some fruit and flowers to visit Mr. Lynch in the hospital.
Mr. Lynch showed an appreciative smile when he saw Caden and Vivian together.
"Vivian, Caden, you’re here," Mr. Lynch said, his voice still a bit weak, but he appeared to be in much better spirits.
Vivian promptly went to his bedside, helping him sit up and placing a pillow behind his back for support.
"Dad, how are you feeling? The doctor said you’ll be discharged soon."
Mr. Lynch nodded and smiled, "I feel a lot better, thanks to Caden’s help. You must have spent a lot because of me."
At his words, Caden gave a mild smile, "Dad, it’s what I should do. You just focus on getting better, don’t worry about anything else."
Then Caden looked at Vivian, and they were so wrapped up in each other that they seemed inseparable, obviously very much in love.
Watching them, Mr. Lynch felt a wave of emotion.
"Vivian, you’ve found a good husband in Caden, and I can rest easy now. You should live well with the Hawthorne Family, just leave the other matters aside."
Hearing this, Vivian frowned slightly, hesitating with a grave expression, "Dad, there’s something I’m not sure if I should tell you."
"Is it about your mother and brother?" Mr. Lynch had already guessed as much.
Vivian nodded gently, her expression complicated. "Dad, they’ve been slandering me and Caden online, trying to extort money. But now they’ve issued a statement, admitting they did it for money."
Mr. Lynch sighed, a guilty look on his face. "Vivian, I’m sorry. You’ve suffered so much over the years because of them, and they’ve gone too far."
Caden squeezed Vivian’s hand, offering her strength.
He then looked at Mr. Lynch and said, "Dad, this matter is behind us. I gave them some money and sent them away. Vivian is pregnant now, and I didn’t want her to be stressed. That’s why I took matters into my own hands."
Mr. Lynch sighed again, "It’s the Lynch Family’s fault for wronging Vivian. You’ve both done more than enough."
"Dad, now that they’ve got the money, they won’t return anytime soon. Let me take care of you from here on," Vivian held Mr. Lynch’s hand, her eyes glistening with tears.
Mr. Lynch gently refused, "Vivian, no need. I don’t want to trouble you. I can take care of myself. You live your life. Once I fully recover, maybe I can find some easy work to support myself."
Vivian quickly said, "Dad, what are you talking about? How could it be trouble? You’re my father; it’s my duty to care for you."
Caden chimed in, "Dad, Vivian is right. You focus on your recovery. When you’re discharged, if you don’t want to live with us, we can find you a comfortable place and hire someone to help you."
Mr. Lynch still shook his head, "Caden, I appreciate it, but I really don’t want to be a burden. You young people have your own lives, I won’t hold you back."
Vivian felt both touched and helpless by her father’s firm stance.
She knew her adoptive father was a proud man, unwilling to rely on them. But she couldn’t help but worry about him living alone.
Caden, seeing Vivian’s concerns, gently wrapped his arm around her shoulders and whispered reassuringly in her ear, "Vivian, don’t worry. We can visit Dad often to ensure he’s doing well. If there’s anything he needs, we’ll be there to help."
Leaning against Caden’s embrace, Vivian nodded.
At this moment, Mr. Lynch couldn’t help but remind Caden, "Caden, Vivian grew up with a lack of security and suffered a lot in the Lynch Family. You must treat her well in the future."
Caden quickly assured him, "Dad, don’t worry! I’ll take good care of Vivian."
Seeing the determination in Caden’s eyes, Mr. Lynch finally felt relieved and nodded, "With your word, I can rest easy. Vivian is lucky to have met you."
Vivian’s eyes turned red all of a sudden. Why did it feel like her adoptive father was entrusting her to Caden?
"But Dad, what about you? Are you really not planning to live with us?"
Mr. Lynch shook his head, "No need, Vivian. I know you and Caden are good kids, but I’m used to living in the Lynch Family, and I don’t want to disrupt your life. Just visit me when you have time, that’ll be enough for me."
Vivian wanted to persuade him once more, but Caden gently squeezed her hand, signaling her not to push.
"Dad, if that’s your decision, we’ll respect your choice. But you have to promise to let us know immediately if anything comes up. I’ll keep in touch frequently."
Mr. Lynch nodded with a smile, "Alright, I will. Don’t worry."
After leaving the hospital, Vivian still felt a bit downhearted.
Caden held her hand tightly, comforting her, "Vivian, don’t feel sad. Your father has his own thoughts, and we can just visit him often."
Leaning against Caden’s shoulder, Vivian said softly, "I’m just worried he’ll be lonely."
Caden spoke tenderly, "He won’t be. We can spend time with him frequently. Plus, once our baby is born, we can take the baby to visit him too. He’ll be very happy."
Hearing Caden’s words, Vivian’s mood gradually improved, her hand instinctively touching her slightly rounded belly.
