CHAPTER 64: CHAPTER 64: MISS LYNCH, HELLO—MY NAME IS SILAS EVERETT
Vivian was slightly stunned, a trace of surprise flashed in her eyes. "Really? That’s a pity, I didn’t expect my painting style to have anything in common with famous artists."
Caden Hawthorne looked at her tenderly, curling his lips into a smile: "Yes, both of your paintings are very impactful, just like this landscape painting, making people feel as if they are in the world of the painting."
Hearing Caden Hawthorne’s praise, Vivian felt a wave of joy in her heart.
She looked at the painting on stage, feeling more and more familiar with it. "Maybe I’ve seen her paintings somewhere before, but I just don’t remember."
Caden Hawthorne held her hand and said softly, "It’s okay, when we have a chance, we can learn more about this artist’s work, maybe we’ll have more discoveries."
At this moment, the auction was still ongoing, and the price of the landscape painting kept climbing.
Vivian and Caden Hawthorne’s attention was also drawn to the auction.
"Do you like this painting?" Caden suddenly asked.
Vivian nodded slightly, "Yes, I like it."
"Then how about we buy it?" Caden raised the corners of his lips.
Upon hearing this, Vivian’s eyes lit up, "Really? Can we?"
Caden reached out to pat her head with a doting smile, "Of course, as long as you like it, I can give it to you."
Seeing the painting had already been auctioned to a million, Vivian instinctively shook her head, "It’s too expensive, forget it, let’s not spend so much."
Caden leaned in close to her ear, whispering, "It’s okay, don’t forget, your husband has plenty of money."
Not far away, Yvonne York and Yara York watched the intimate scene between Caden Hawthorne and Vivian, their hearts filled with jealousy and resentment.
Yara couldn’t help but say, "Sis, look at that Vivian, always putting on airs in front of Caden, trying to lure him."
Yvonne bit her lip, her face turning slightly pale, "Yara, stop talking."
At this moment, Caden Hawthorne raised the number plate, directly bidding, "Two million."
Caden’s bid caused a small commotion.
Everyone looked towards him and Vivian, their eyes full of surprise and envy.
Vivian was also shocked by Caden’s action, she gently tugged on his sleeve and said softly, "Caden, it’s too expensive, there’s no need to spend so much money."
However, Caden was indifferent, looking at Vivian tenderly as he said, "As long as you like it, it’s worth it."
Riley Hawthorne chuckled softly from the side, "Sister-in-law, you don’t have to save money for my brother, just think of it as charity! My brother has plenty of money."
The host on stage was excited, shouting loudly, "President Hawthorne has bid two million, is there a higher offer?"
The room immediately fell silent, no one dared to continue bidding.
After all, despite their wealth, they couldn’t compete with the Hawthorne Family, could they?
"Two million once, two million twice, two million..."
Just as the host was about to hammer the final bid, suddenly, the door of the venue was pushed open.
At the door stood a man in a black suit, followed by two bodyguards.
The man walked in against the light, as if stepping out of a painting.
He was tall and upright, with broad shoulders and a slim waist, the suit perfectly outlining his long and strong figure.
His features were exquisite, with short black hair neatly in place, adding a touch of charm and competence.
The man wore gold-rimmed glasses, the gaze behind the lenses carrying a hint of rebelliousness and nonchalance, giving off a sense of refined rogue.
He slightly raised his chin, carrying an innate arrogance.
The man shouted loudly, "I bid three million."
Everyone’s attention instantly turned to the man at the door.
Vivian and Caden also turned to look, a trace of confusion in their eyes.
Caden slightly frowned, he didn’t know this man, but his appearance was clearly provocative.
The host shouted excitedly, "This gentleman bids three million! Is there a higher offer?"
Caden’s face darkened, just about to bid again when Vivian held his hand.
"Caden, forget it, it’s too expensive. Besides, it’s not a must-have painting."
Caden looked at Vivian, his eyes full of tenderness. "Alright, I’ll listen to you."
That man looked at Caden with a smug glance, walked onto the stage to pay, and took the landscape painting.
Riley said angrily, "Who is this person? So arrogant, daring to compete with my brother."
Vivian shook her head, "I don’t know, maybe he really likes the painting too."
Caden remained silent, having a feeling this man’s appearance was no coincidence, yet he couldn’t figure out the man’s purpose.
The man handed the painting to the bodyguard behind him, then walked towards Vivian’s row.
There was an empty seat next to Vivian, and the man walked straight towards it.
Caden frowned, looking at the man with a hint of caution in his eyes.
"Miss, may I sit here?" he asked gently, his demeanor very gentlemanly.
For a moment, Vivian couldn’t find a reason to refuse, so she slightly nodded, "Sir, please do."
With Vivian’s permission, the man sat next to her, then began to introduce himself, "May I know your name?"
"My name is Vivian Lynch." Vivian smiled politely.
The man extended his hand, a smile on his handsome face, "Miss Lynch, hello! I am Silas Everett."
Vivian hesitated a bit but then gently shook his hand. "Hello, Mr. Everett."
Caden watched them shake hands, feeling a surge of displeasure.
He leaned slightly, pulling Vivian closer to him, his gaze cold as he looked at Silas. "Mr. Everett, this seat is taken, please leave."
Silas was unfazed, adjusting his glasses, a playful smile on his lips. "President Hawthorne, no need to be so stingy, I just want to make friends with Miss Lynch."
"You know me?" Caden’s expression darkened even more, realizing this man came prepared.
"Master Hawthorne, who in The Aethelgard Circle doesn’t know you?"
Silas had a faint smile on his lips, yet his eyes behind the lenses were inscrutable.
Caden sneered, "Since you know who I am, yet still dare to provoke, Mr. Everett, you’re quite bold."
Silas shrugged, "Master Hawthorne overestimates me. I just felt an instant connection with Miss Lynch and wanted to be friends, that’s all."
Caden firmly held Vivian’s hand, asserting his territory, "My wife doesn’t need friends like you."
Vivian looked at the tense atmosphere between the two, somewhat helpless, and said, "Caden, don’t be so serious. Mr. Everett might just be being polite."
Caden turned to Vivian, his brows furrowing, unable to help but say, "Vivian, you are still inexperienced with the world, some people aren’t as simple as they seem."
