From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss
Chapter 8: I’ll Take Responsibility for the Child
CHAPTER 8: CHAPTER 8: I’LL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CHILD
"How are you going to take responsibility?" Vivian sniffled, wiping her tears.
"Marriage." Caden Hawthorne spat out the words coldly.
"Marriage? I don’t agree," Vivian opened her eyes wide and shook her head, "That’s not what I want."
Caden Hawthorne looked puzzled. Wasn’t her goal just to marry him?
He frowned, "Then what do you want?"
Vivian’s gaze was firm, "Marriage is sacred, it’s about mutual love. Mr. Hawthorne doesn’t like me at all. I don’t want you to marry me out of responsibility."
Hearing this, Caden Hawthorne couldn’t help but laugh, "Vivian Lynch, do you think there could be feelings between us?"
Vivian was momentarily speechless, she turned her face away, biting her red lips, "If that’s the case, I’d rather not have this marriage."
"Vivian Lynch, think about it clearly. Marrying me, at least I can give the child a status, and provide you with security."
Caden Hawthorne leaned forward, looking down at her, "And what about you? Can you give the child a future? With your family’s current conditions, do you want him to follow you and suffer from the moment he’s born?"
Hearing that, Vivian trembled, feeling a wave of helplessness run through her.
"Marry me, have the child, and I can give you everything you want: money, status, even ensure you’re never lacking for anything in your life." Caden Hawthorne tried to negotiate with Vivian, offering her favorable terms.
Vivian thought about her current situation, realizing that only the Hawthorne Family could give her support, and ensure her child’s safe birth.
Thinking of this, Vivian gave a bitter smile, "Alright, I agree to marry you."
Caden Hawthorne curled his lips in a cold smile, "It turns out she is really after wealth and prosperity."
With that, after being discharged from the hospital, Vivian was brought back to the Hawthorne Family.
Hartswell Manor.
A black Maybach parked at the manor’s entrance, and Old Master Hawthorne stood with his cane, waiting there early.
When he saw Caden Hawthorne get out of the car, Old Master Hawthorne looked around, "Kid, didn’t I ask you to bring my granddaughter-in-law back? Where is she?"
At this moment, Vivian stepped out from the back seat, bowed slightly to Old Master Hawthorne, and respectfully called, "Grandpa Hawthorne."
"Ah!" Seeing Vivian at that moment, Old Master Hawthorne broke into a wide smile and walked straight over.
"Vivian, Caden said you were injured, how are you? Feeling better?"
Facing Old Master Hawthorne’s concern, Vivian smiled slightly, "Grandpa, don’t worry, I’m already fine."
"That’s good." Old Master Hawthorne’s gaze fell on Vivian’s belly, "Is my great-grandchild doing well?"
Vivian’s face turned awkward, while Caden Hawthorne unexpectedly chimed in, "Grandpa, your great-grandchild is doing just fine."
"Those bastards, how dare they do this to my granddaughter-in-law? Are they even human?" Old Master Hawthorne cursed as he glanced at Caden Hawthorne, "Kid, you go to pick someone up and dawdle about, luckily Vivian is alright, or else I’d end you."
With that said, Old Master Hawthorne picked up his cane and tapped Caden Hawthorne’s backside.
Caden Hawthorne’s handsome face darkened, showing dissatisfaction, "Grandpa, so many people are watching!"
That meant, doesn’t he care about face?
Vivian couldn’t hold back for a moment and covered her mouth with a laugh.
Seeing Vivian laugh, Old Master Hawthorne quickly took her hand, smiling brightly, "Vivian, come, Grandpa has prepared a lot of delicious food for you."
"Okay." Smiling, Vivian nodded and followed Old Master Hawthorne into the manor.
The manor was huge, big enough to drive directly inside.
What came into view first were several standalone villas, with a huge garden inside, and a swimming pool beside the garden.
Inside the manor, several servants were trimming leaves and watering plants.
Vivian marveled, is this what a top-tier wealthy family’s home is like? It’s indeed big enough to accommodate thousands, even the cobblestones on the road are made of high-quality jade, luxurious beyond her imagination.
As soon as they entered, a servant came up and helped them change their shoes.
In contrast to Caden Hawthorne’s calm demeanor, Vivian appeared somewhat tense.
Old Master Hawthorne and Caden Hawthorne both sat on the luxurious leather sofa in the living room.
Seeing Vivian still dazed, Old Master Hawthorne immediately waved her over, "Vivian, come sit."
Vivian hesitated but obediently walked over, sitting beside Old Master Hawthorne.
Old Master Hawthorne couldn’t help but ask, "Vivian! When do you plan to get your marriage license with our Caden?"
"Grandpa, there’s no rush." Vivian glanced at Caden Hawthorne, who remained silent, and awkwardly smiled.
"You already have a child, how can you not be in a rush?" Old Master Hawthorne looked at Caden Hawthorne, giving him a meaningful look, "Caden, don’t you agree?"
"Grandpa can arrange it! I’m fine with anything." Caden Hawthorne’s expression was indifferent, as if discussing a marriage wasn’t a major event but just an ordinary matter.
Seeing Caden Hawthorne not taking it seriously at all, Old Master Hawthorne glared at him.
Then, Old Master Hawthorne gently took Vivian’s hand, kindly saying, "Vivian, don’t mind his stubborn nature. Don’t judge him by his constant sour face, but once he’s serious, he’s good to everyone. If you marry Caden, he will definitely care for you."
"Grandpa, it’s fine." Vivian smiled gently, having already experienced this man’s temperament and indifference.
"I think tomorrow is a good day. Vivian, why don’t you go to the civil affairs bureau tomorrow and get the certificate?"
Hearing this, Vivian opened her mouth, her expression hesitant, "Grandpa, wouldn’t that be too fast?"
"No." Old Master Hawthorne patted her hand, smiling warmly, "Vivian, rest assured! Once you’re married into this family, Grandpa will treat you as his own granddaughter, definitely won’t let you suffer any grievances in the Hawthorne home."
Speaking of it, this child is quite pitiful, with a father who doesn’t care, a mother lacking familial love, and a brother who gambles like a leech.
Sigh, she really is a little pitiful.
"Thank you, Grandpa." Vivian was moved, having never felt warmth and family affection in the Lynch Family.
Now, having arrived at the Hawthorne Family, with Old Master Hawthorne being so kind to her, Vivian feels it’s unreal, still like a dream.
Seeing the little girl nearly brought to tears, Old Master Hawthorne immediately gave orders to his eldest grandson, "Caden, go take Vivian upstairs to rest."
Caden Hawthorne remained seated on the sofa.
Old Master Hawthorne picked up his cane and tapped his leg, "Did you hear me? If you dare bully Vivian, I won’t recognize you as my grandson."
Caden Hawthorne showed a face of resignation, "Understood, Grandpa."
He stood and walked over to Vivian, speaking calmly, "Alright then, let me take you to choose a room."
Vivian nodded slightly and followed Caden Hawthorne upstairs.
There were many rooms upstairs, each with different color schemes. Vivian chose a warm-colored room that didn’t feel so cold and seemed more comfortable to live in.
"We’ll get the marriage certificate tomorrow, but with the condition that we won’t hold a wedding."
