CHAPTER 93: ANOTHER DREAM? [[READ PREV CHAPTER FIRST!!! FIXED IT!]]
The journey was peaceful, and Maui managed to get a hoodie to cover up her appearance so no one would notice her race with a single glance.
She had to be careful going forward because this was enemy territory. There was no telling what awaited them.
Byung was still sleeping, and it had already been a couple of hours. Maui knew this was a direct sign of how exhausted he was.
She knew taking a break would help them, but time was running out.
She knew Kragg was an enemy to this particular kingdom.
And now, an enemy to her, and there was a saying that existed among these humans which went,
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Maui muttered under her breath and knew she could hold her own somewhat if it came to fighting.
The gate was within their line of sight, even though it appeared as a small dot.
She woke Byung up, and the goblin was in a deep slumber. He didn’t wake up at the first shake.
No, he wasn’t waking up at all.
"Byung? Wake up..." Maui thought he was messing with her as she shook him a little, but Byung wasn’t moving.
"BYUNG!"
-
Byung was in a familiar place. It was the mine that started it all, but he looked like his present self right down to his clothing.
"Huh? How did I get here?" Byung asked this question because there was nothing separating this dream from reality.
The dream felt real, and he looked around to see if the mine was exactly the same.
The gold littered the floor, but that wasn’t all. Byung looked for the corpse that was on the floor.
But he didn’t see anyone. Byung became frightened, and rightfully so.
Byung picked up the gold coins to see if they were real, but there was nothing that made them feel otherwise.
These were the real deal, but then he felt something at the top of his head.
Byung rubbed his finger there, but to his utmost shock, it was green fluid.
Putting it to his nose, this smell was no doubt the scent of blood, and another drop fell on his head, prompting him to take a step back.
He looked up, wondering what could be dropping on him, but to his horror, he saw multiple bodies speared at the top of the cave.
Before Byung could scream, he found himself in the middle of a battlefield with multiple goblins charging toward an army of orcs.
The scene was gruesome. An orc’s single strike was enough to behead at least five goblins at once.
"What the heck!? Oh no way!" Byung shouted, and the first thing on his mind was running away.
He turned around, ready to retreat, but there was something strange about this scene because he noticed there was something in his hand.
"This is...!" Byung thought to himself because he had the sword of the King within his grasp.
And when he turned around, the scene had changed once again. All the goblins were on their knees as far as his eyes could see.
There were so many goblins, and Byung had no idea what was going on, but there was something strange about this sword.
Byung couldn’t wrap his head around it, but before he could think any further, he heard his name being called.
"Maui...?" Byung thought to himself, raising his eyebrow as it hit him at that moment.
"This isn’t real," Byung blurted out but felt a hand on his shoulder.
However, he couldn’t make out who the person was as his eyes shot open.
-
Maui watched Byung lay on the ground, motionless and unresponsive to anything she did.
She called his name and kept shaking him with enough force to give him a concussion.
Byung’s eyes shot open. He managed to wake up with his eyes momentarily drifting all over the place.
"You scared me!" Maui barked at him, nudging him lightly, but Byung was confused by what he had seen.
But the moment his eyes settled on the surroundings, Maui could see the fear in them.
"Are you okay?" Maui questioned, but Byung wasn’t okay because the environment before him was exactly the same as the one in the dream he just had.
The battlefield and the bloodshed that followed—Byung didn’t know if his mind was playing tricks on him, but the system was responsible for these dreams.
The second one would make more sense, but Byung had to calm himself and remember.
"It was just a dream," Byung muttered to himself, taking a deep breath to control the lingering fear in his heart.
"We are here," Maui informed him.
She knew right away whatever had just happened must have been a nightmare, but it also reminded her about the dreams about the sword.
"This is where Murkfang is," Byung said. It wasn’t like he could smell Murkfang all the way from their home.
But the lingering scent—there was no doubt Murkfang was here because it was exactly the same as the one he had left back at the mine.
They were here, but would things go according to plan?
-
Vrognut had made a strong impression, and Borkle looked at Gribnox, confused as to what they should do.
They were surprised a goblin of such power was in front of them, but it was because of Drekk.
The war against the orcs was about to begin, and there was something that made the orcs less fearful with how easily Vrognut defeated Naruz.
He was the real deal, and Byung wasn’t making weapons and armor for the fun of it either.
The goblins had a general idea that there was a war to be fought, and this was why even Drekk was willing to put his pride aside and train under one.
Vrognut’s teeth were unique. They excreted a bacteria that causes paralysis to anyone he bit. The side effect of this was overwhelming bad breath. It made it difficult for those who were new to him to breathe properly around him.
Of course, being the host of said bacteria granted him a certain level of immunity to it.
This was why he was the perfect hunter and the one thing no orc had lived to tell the tale about.
"The war effort. I’m sure if the orcs here are as soft as you are, then we should have no problem," Vrognut said, speaking to both Gribnox and Drekk.
"That is why I have requested your help. We were attacked by them," Drekk informed his brother, but his brother could tell right away this wasn’t coming from a place of care.
"And now you have your excuse to wage your war?" Vrognut questioned.
The way this goblin spoke was with total authority. Gribnox couldn’t bring himself to say a single word.
"What about you? Do you think we should wage war on the orcs, or would you rather stick your cock in the two you have here?" Vrognut questioned him.
The wrong answer would cost him his life. Everyone in that room knew, including Borkle.
But Gribnox knew he had to do something about this; however, there was a time and place for everything.
"I support what you have said. If we attack the orcs, why would I need two when I can have ten?" Gribnox said with a nervous smile.
He would do whatever he needed to do to survive because if he fell, he knew what would become of the goblins in these mines.
The orcs under his care would be overpowered and taken forcefully. Vrognut’s act had shown them this was possible.
And the fact Gribnox stood there without doing anything had created a crack in his leadership.
Vrognut stared at him for a second before a sickening smile creased his face.
"Is that so?" Vrognut questioned, and Gribnox nodded.
"We cannot afford you spilling any more goblin blood," Drekk informed him.
Gribnox was confused why he said this out of the blue before it hit him. Vrognut was about to take his life.
"I know, I know. I get too excited sometimes," Vrognut responded.
The similarities between these two brothers were uncanny, but Vrognut was no doubt the real deal.
Drekk was known to carry out punishments, but he ultimately obeyed the rules until recently.
-
Torgzit arrived back at their base and noticed almost half of their men were slaughtered in the most gruesome way. He knew there was only one reason something like this could happen.
"Vrognut," Torgzit muttered under his breath, clenching his fist in anger.
This was what worried him, but it was this same brutality that would give them a chance at winning the war.
He was quick to hear what had happened and made sure to dispose of the dead respectfully.
They burned their bodies, but Torgzit knew this was his twisted way of weeding out the weak.
The ones he left alive must have proven they were worth being left alive.
Torgzit knew it was time to get everyone to the mine where the preparations were taking place.
He knew that meeting the quota wouldn’t be a problem with the tools he had seen in the other mine, so this wasn’t something they needed to worry about.
