CHAPTER 50: IT’S RAINING BOMBS!

[Warning, this Chapter is metaphoric. It’s just me dabbling with words and trying to make you the reader, feel the whole atmosphere of the scene]

The vehicle somersaulted robotically in the air.

The atmosphere was mostly windless, so there was no excess jerking and stuff like that.

Instead, there was... a light pull, a sinking sensation, mainly from the gust of wind that had sent the vehicle reeling in the air.

Sound stopped, muffled by anticipation.

Death skidded; it could sense a soul, just a single soul pulling forward.

Julian gritted his teeth under the helmet.

An explosion in the distance, the sound of more bombs reeling onto the ground, the sound of a loud shout produced by a dying soldier.

Mainly from a sharp pain, likely from being thrust by a sword-like bullet.

The spilling of blood.

Anticipation...

The exploding of vehicles.

Anticipation...

The fall of a Drayyorsain battle ship...

Anticipation...

Death still skidding by like a snowboard, waiting.

A soul would die for sure, Julian wasn’t mistaken.

But he hoped it wouldn’t be one of those plot twists.

Those sad, shocking plot twists.

The sound of bullets prevailed, shouts, commands and the usual following it.

And just when Julian had least anticipation of the fall...

The car shot down on the ground. Shot in the sense that it didn’t just fall, it instead plummeted, rolling and rolling on the ground.

The tyres grinded the dust, even stones, peeling through it like it was chewing.

Soon enough, the force of the fall shot a tyre out; it rammed against the remains of a building, reducing it to debris.

Another tyre shot out, and just as it was reeling to where it was going, a bomb fell on it and...

...another explosion.

Loud, piercing.

The sort that rattled through the air.

An explosion always caused damage, and just like the one that was doing this damage to the vehicle Julian was in, it did another damage.

It tore through the tyre, making it bust, and now, it was heading for the vehicle Julian was in that was in the level of dilapidation.

This was the force of the explosion.

The force sent the vehicle Julian was expecting to make standstill spiral to the right.

It went through a building, a steel building, demolishing it completely. Julian was starting to question the quality of the houses now.

If every one of them could fall as easily as this, then were they really made of steel and iron?

Perhaps they were actually, but just cheap iron or steel.

The building had not demolished solely on the vehicle entering it, but instead from the force of the explosion.

The explosion had seemingly slapped (if that was the right word) into the building, with the force of the vehicle too.

The building collapsed on the vehicle, and now everything stopped.

Julian was squeezed inside the vehicle, and if not for the helmet he was wearing, he would have suffocated.

He couldn’t move, and he was certainly stuck. He couldn’t even move his head to look back, but he was certain that the front seat was the most affected part.

Using all the strength in him, he plunged out of the car, going through the debris surrounding him.

Now out of the vehicle, he saw the others trying to get out also.

He left them and looked around, trying to find Rehul, to see where she fell.

The second explosion seemed to have jerked him further from where they first were, so now, all he had to do was to go look for where Rehul fell.

But as soon as Julian was to fly forward, to look for her, it started to rain bombs. Large, explosive bombs.

Julian looked at the sky and gritted his teeth.

"Damn!" he muttered, and just after he said that, all hell was let loose. The bombs started falling down with this ferocious pace to it.

Julian quickly threw himself on the ground.

He knew he was strong, but he was not sure he would survive a bullet as massive as that.

Bullets that looked the size of tanks. He bet anyone that met him would surely rip his body to pieces.

He decided he would run. There were a lot of fallen vehicles he could use as shields too.

So, it was sure. He would run.

He dashed towards the field of battle. There were hardly any soldiers in this place. In fact, there actually weren’t any. It was just the bombs and then destruction.

And so Julian ran, not actually running in a straight line but instead zigzag. Like motion drifting in the balance. Like his life were hanging by a loose thread that could cut at any moment.

He ran with so much speed, even matching the speed he was always on when he was in the air.

He was running like a madman, and anytime he sensed a bomb coming his way, he would simply fall to the side, dodging it.

But by fall, he didn’t just lay on the ground. Anytime he fell, he was quick to push himself back up and continue running like his life depended on it.

What he hoped for was that Rehul hadn’t been hit by any of these bombs.

When the falling of bombs became too much, he became slightly angered and decided to summon the mech rifle.

Two could play at this game.

He shot with the mech rifle at the air, hitting the battle ships.

The mech rifle had large bullets. Bullets large it looked impossible that they were coming out from a gun that size (the mech rifle was large though).

Julian fired relentlessly. He was targeting just a battle ship.

With the numerous bullets he shot at it...

...it fell.

Julian dived to his right, and just as he did so, the battle ship exploded. The force of the explosion sent another battle ship to fall too.

A large, loud mass of fire erupted from the explosion.

Boom!

Like a volcano.

Julian was lucky he was far off because that sort of explosion was sure to melt someone.

The other battle ships were triggered by that; they decided to halt any more bomb throwing.

They instead tried, with all the dope mech they had, to check who was capable of exploding two battle ships like it was nothing.

Julian knew they were going to do so, and right now, he wasn’t ready to be the main target, and so, he ran more faster.

Running really fast, he was soon out of the sight of the battle ships. Even he himself was surprised at how fast he could run. Perhaps it was another superpower.

Finally, he saw Rehul, resting her back behind a broken vehicle.

Seeing him run in her direction, she embraced him with a fierce kiss.

Julian, being the naughty guy, caught her ass like it was a bullet and cupped it so tight.

"I knew you’d come," she said to him.

Julian breathed hard.

"I’d never leave you. At least not like this, to die in this damned place."

Rehul smiled, and they kissed again before Rehul said,

"Thank you for pushing me out of the vehicle. I owe you big time."

Julian only nodded.

"I would have come along, but I’m not sure I can survive this bombing."

Julian still wore his helmet on.

He said to her:

"Let’s go back to the others. We still have to meet the governor. Seems we are very close."
