Game World's Awakening
Chapter 178: Existential Treasure
CHAPTER 178: EXISTENTIAL TREASURE
These types of treasures are often referred to as: Existential Treasure.
Many powerful guilds have one, and they are usually the highest-level treasures that have some attack capability, as they are often used to prevent other powerful guilds from attacking you.
The fear of the uncertainty of what might cause one of these treasures in action makes them great treasures to deter.
For example, the Kingdom to which Angelic Wave belongs has certain items called "Runes". Although they have others, these are the most powerful deterrents because they have a ridiculously high power and can do many things.
What happens when a guild or Kingdom loses its deterrent item? Not only do they lose real power, but at the state level and in the world, they decline drastically as a major power and become a small rabbit that can be destroyed at any time.
Now, the important issue here is that he has been gathering the pieces of a mirror for quite some time, and so far, all the clues he has had point to what the Arce Kingdom’s Existential Treasure is.
It means that the Arce Kingdom has no Existential Treasure. They are almost out of the power scheme.
If it had not been for the fact that it had a few Saints, it would have possibly been invaded by others by now.
Not that it hasn’t been invaded. Recently, the Runic Kingdom has been eyeing its territories, leading it to lose numerous important cities. Perhaps they are aware of this possibility.
Though, of course, it is only a possibility.
’I’m not sure, but all my clues point to it.’ He thought.
But the possibility was quite high, considering that the one who left this mirror behind was Ancestor Lee, the founder of the Kingdom himself.
Thinking about this and the possibility that the Clarks were descendants of that legendary man, Elliot thought that maybe he could find more information about it in the Ancestral Grounds.
He still wasn’t finished reading, though.
He went on to read other ancient books. Many spoke of the Clark and other clans; others spoke of Altarcitus.
According to history, everyone in Altarcitus was an Elf, so it may be a Clan of Elves.
They ruled... Over a great forest. This could make sense of the tree seen in the symbol that represented them.
Also, there was a legendary city called Ruined Grove City that reminds him of that.
That legendary city was the only one left above a great forest.
Only... That forest was said to be the most dangerous in the entire territory.
As he read more and more, he gathered points between books and realized that the world ruled by those elves was a world of misfortune.
Chaos reigned, and almost no one followed the System. Occasionally, the System punished them, but no one did anything to stop it.
In addition, he learned that at that time, humans on this side of the map lived as slaves of those elves.
According to these books, one of the common practices that these guys had was to perform unknown rituals, where they killed many people for unknown causes and reasons.
Being that they were responsible for the massive kidnapping that has been happening lately, those practices had not gone out of fashion for them.
The question now is, what are the reasons why they do that?
What do they use those rituals for, and what is their mission?
Knowing all this made Louis see the kind of people he is up against and gauge their dangerousness.
He knows now that he has to be careful about many things.
He continued to read even more.
He even spent his weekend days here, looking for information. Jenna went out several times, as she didn’t have as much reason as Elliot to investigate things from the past, but she accompanied him most of the time.
It wasn’t until Sunday night that he had to leave.
He had obtained much valuable information, but still nothing about the Clarks’ Ancestral Grounds.
But that’s normal. He still has too much research to do in such a large library.
Still, he had to leave because the second week of battles would start soon.
On his way out, he was called once again by Steward.
"Did you find what you wanted?" He asked him.
Elliot nodded. "Not all of it, but some of it. I have to go back there to investigate further, as I feel that’s where what I’m looking for is."
"Ohh." Stward felt interested, but didn’t ask. "Very well. I hope that token helps you find everything."
"Thank you very much, Mr. Steward. You’ve been a great help to me. I really appreciate it." Elliot was sincere, something Steward took a good look at.
"All right, no more thanks. I have a question for you."
"Go ahead, I’ll answer what I know."
"Hmm, you’re planning the overthrow of the Clarks, are you?" he asked directly, slightly surprising Elliot.
Though he was quick to respond as well.
"Naturally, I’m planning it."
"Plans are going well?" she asked.
"They are. Better than I thought."
"That looks like you’ve discovered some good things lately." He was interested again, and this time he didn’t keep it to himself. "What is it that you discovered? Maybe I can help you with something."
Elliot smiled. He really had no plans to keep it from him, as he didn’t think he was working for that organization.
"I found out that those guys have a big alliance with those Altarcitus guys and big political shots. Especially the Secretary of Government himself. He seems to support them wholeheartedly."
Steward frowned, though he really expected that already. It wasn’t hard to connect those dots when just a few months ago, that bastard was turning a blind eye to what was going on in a combat arena.
But the fact that he had figured it out so quickly meant something much deeper.
They were moving in a hurry.
They wanted to accomplish something.
What was it?
Corpse thefts and kidnappings of people were becoming more and more rampant lately as well...
’Maybe something really big with that organization? They’re famous for doing rituals with blood and making mass kidnapping moves, but this sudden mobilization of all their allies and servants?
’It’s not common.’ he thought.
’It’s something he should talk to the leader about; he’s the only one who could give him an answer.
But for now...
"Even though you found them out and you know how dangerous those guys are, you don’t plan to stop, do you?" he asked.
"I won’t, Mr. Steward." Elliot replied firmly. "I won’t rest until I get my revenge. They brought this on themselves. They betrayed me. They betrayed my father. They betrayed my family. There’s no way I’m going to stop now. Even if I have to fight that dangerous organization, I’m honestly not afraid." He stated.
"Ever since I learned about them and read more, I became convinced I must eradicate them." He finished.
Steward simply nodded, softly.
It took him several minutes to respond.
"Well, if you are so determined, then it must be for something. I will trust your judgment and hope for your victory. I can’t help you overtly, but there is something I can do for you." He said, and suddenly pulled out his cell phone.
He dialed a number and called to Elliot’s confused look.
Soon he was answered by someone. "I think I have the form you need for you to achieve what you want. Can you come to my office right now?"
After one minute of waiting, a voice came from the other end: "I’m on my way."
After that, Steward put his cell phone away once again.
He looked at Elliot and smiled, "I’ll introduce you to someone who will surely want to help you. If your plan is strong enough, he will surely help you immediately. If not, he may ask you to do something shocking in order to cooperate."
"Who is it?" Elliot frowned, confused. Who would want to oppose such powerful organizations and eminences openly?
Steward didn’t answer him. He simply smiled at him.
"Stick around and you’ll find out."
Then he changed the subject. "How do you see yourself winning the Leveled Leagues?" he asked.
Elliot didn’t even think about it as he answered.
"I think we have a pretty high chance of winning."
"How high?" Steward was curious about his quick response.
Elliot responded with an even quicker answer, "100%."
For a brief moment, Steward was stunned, but then he started laughing.
"Hahahahaha... Not bad, kid. With confidence." He spoke. "But you shouldn’t be arrogant. I assume you have a basis for saying so, so I’d like to hear it."
Elliot smiled. "I simply have confidence in the abilities of the group members. Recently, Jenna is getting more powerful, and Andrew could make a big leap. I still have trump cards I haven’t shown.... And I may still have more."
"Oh? Have you recently become someone who can judge when a person will get stronger?" he asked.
Elliot smiled slightly. "Maybe."
"Wow." Steward’s eyes twinkled with interest. "Coming from someone like you, I wouldn’t doubt that was the case. But I’ll take it as a young man’s joke."
"Hahahaha..." Elliot finally laughed heartily.
He really wasn’t joking, though.
"By the way, Mr. Steward." Elliot remembered something. "Does Andrew belong to the Koval Clan, the history books say?"
"The Koval, huh." Steward was interested by his question, but he didn’t know how to give him a definitive answer, so he shrugged.
"That’s likely. His father was someone amazing. He told you about it, didn’t he?"
"A little."
"Well, I heard that the Koval had Ancestor Lee blood, that’s why they could create such powerful beings. But... It’s just a rumor. The Koval don’t even know if they still exist."
Elliot nodded. ’So Andrew could be my family? Since we would have Ancestor Lee’s blood in our veins.’ he thought.
That might explain why, from the beginning, they felt a sense of familiarity that allowed them to become great friends quickly.
