CHAPTER 210: CHAPTER 209: FAREWELL, NO ESCORT

On the sofa, Lin Mengyun wholeheartedly tried to please Lin Wanwan, ignoring Lin Wanwan’s indifference. It wasn’t just pure flattery—she had grown up in a family that favored boys over girls, developing a people-pleasing personality over time.

Meanwhile, Little Granny checked the time, packed up her cleaning tools, and called out to Lin Wanwan, "Wanwan, I’ve almost finished my work, so I’ll be off now. Come by my house to visit when you have time."

Lin Wanwan stood up and walked over with a forced smile, "Alright, thank you for your hard work, Little Granny. Should I pay you directly or give it to the property management?"

Lin Mengyun hurriedly came over as well, wearing a polite and friendly smile.

Little Granny picked up her bucket and said, "Just pay the property management. We receive salaries and commissions. I’m leaving now; come visit me when you’re free."

"Alright, Auntie/Little Granny, take care." Lin Wanwan and Lin Zhantian said in unison.

"Okay." Little Granny sighed as she left, "Ah, Zhantian, you were a young man when you left, and now you’ve come back with children as big as you were then. Time really flies."

Once she left, Lin Wanwan’s smile vanished instantly. She walked into the kitchen and said to the still-busy Xie Yuanying, "Auntie, you don’t need to keep busy; I don’t cook here."

Xie Yuanying turned around with a smile, "Young girls like you, eating out every day can’t be nutritious. Let your auntie cook something good for you today. You can go chat and watch TV with your cousins; I won’t be long."

Lin Wanwan glanced at the ingredients Xie Yuanying was preparing and snorted, "Auntie, are you planning to make sandwiches? I’m a true Huaxia person and don’t like Western food; I prefer Chinese cuisine."

Xie Yuanying ignored the sarcastic tone in Lin Wanwan’s words and said with a smile, "Well, if you don’t like sandwiches, I can make you some spaghetti; it’s convenient."

Lin Wanwan continued, "I can’t get used to the hard texture of spaghetti as a native of Yongcheng. If Auntie likes noodles, why don’t I invite everyone to have Lanzhou ramen outside the community? Freshly pulled noodles are definitely better than spaghetti."

"Lanzhou ramen? Haha." Xie Yuanying’s expression started to crack after being repeatedly contradicted.

She put down the knife she was using to cut ham, washed her hands, and walked over to Lin Wanwan, saying, "Wanwan, Auntie knows you’re resentful of me, but..."

Lin Wanwan interrupted her directly, "No, Auntie, you’re mistaken. How could I be resentful? We only meet once in a few years; if we ran into each other on the street, you might not even recognize me. It’s no different than being strangers, so why would I resent you?"

Xie Yuanying was rendered speechless, then she let out a few dry laughs, "Ah! Haha! Ah! This child, she truly is resentful."

Lin Wanwan coolly surveyed the other guests in the living room like a feline inspecting its territory, and said flatly, "You foreigners like to bring luggage when you go out to eat, huh? So inconvenient. Let’s go; since you’re here, I, as the host, must entertain you properly. I’ve already ordered food and called for a rideshare; it should be here soon."

Lin Zhantian, always carrying the airs of a self-assured intellectual, had tolerated Lin Wanwan’s sarcastic remarks for too long and couldn’t stand it anymore. Frowning, he admonished, "What’s wrong with you child, speaking to elders with such sarcasm? We made the effort to return to the country, and instead of quickly arranging for us to rest, you think of driving us away? No wonder none of your relatives on your dad’s side wants to take you in; you’re so heartless."

These words struck a nerve in Lin Wanwan. She immediately bristled, her face turning icy, "My grandparents treat me well enough; why would I need anyone else to take me in? Uncle, aren’t you just like them, viewing me as a burden? The moment Grandpa passed, you all wanted me out, planning to sell this house. Now you’re talking around it, thinking I would endure it silently?

Sorry, but since this is your attitude, please go, I won’t see you off. I don’t want to eat with you either; I might just lose my appetite."

With no outsiders left in the house, Lin Wanwan was unbothered. Since they weren’t trying to cover up anymore, she didn’t bother to fake politeness with them.

She certainly didn’t want such relatives.

Now in Great Tang, she not only had a lovely daughter but also a large family. Even if she returned late at night, a bunch of clan members would be waiting to help her move things and get everything organized.

The entire clan treated her as precious. Why should she take abuse from so-called relatives she barely saw once every few years?

Lin Zhantian got so furious from Lin Wanwan’s tirade that his anger turned his face purple. He glared and shouted, "You cheeky girl can really talk back! How did your grandparents raise such an ingrate!"

He was so angry his words were barely stable anymore, bursting out with dialect and curse words, which were indeed the most potent.

Lin Wanwan took a deep breath, and with decisive speed, she picked up their family’s large luggage and tossed it out, not willing to waste words.

With her current skill and strength, throwing a few suitcases was effortless, and she could do it seamlessly.

Lin Qixing watched the grand luggage being tossed out in an arc then looked at Lin Wanwan’s frail body, subconsciously taking a step back.

This newfound cousin was truly ferocious; surely Huaxia women knew martial arts.

Lin Mengyun was equally shocked, covering her mouth lightly, finding it hard to believe what she saw.

Lin Wanwan glanced at the two, and they quickly scurried to the entrance to put on their shoes.

Their parents were elders, whom Lin Wanwan wouldn’t abide. As peers who were meeting for the first time, they certainly didn’t want to get beaten.

"Unbelievable, unreasonable, ingrate, really an ingrate! How could I have a niece like you!" Lin Zhantian and Xie Yuanying cursed as they exited, and Lin Wanwan shut the door on them with a "bang!"

Living in a villa had its perks; neighbors were separated by hedges and trellises of climbing plants two meters high, preventing anyone from watching. Had it been a rural house, the courtyard would have been crowded by now.

Lin Zhantian brushed off the dust angrily, still grumbling, while Xie Yuanying frowned and said, "Alright, stop playing the uncle act; her wings are strong now, and she won’t recognize it."

She gazed at the tightly closed villa door, her eyes filled with emotion.

"Let’s go; there’s no food to eat here." Lin Zhantian stopped his curses and, resignedly, grabbed the luggage alongside his wife and child.

There was no chance he’d just let this go; however, the villa wasn’t the top priority at the moment.

Lin Wanwan watched through the surveillance as everyone reluctantly left the yard, letting out a cold laugh. How could she possibly let this group live in her house? After all, inviting trouble was easy but sending it away wasn’t. This place used to belong to her and her grandparents, and it still would.

She glanced up at the wall where her grandparents’ portraits hung, murmuring to herself, "They were the ones who lacked kindness first. Grandpa, Grandma, you loved me dearly; you wouldn’t blame me, right?"
