CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: CAPTURE JIANG 3QIANG (REQUESTING FAVORITES AND MONTHLY TICKETS)
Once Zhou Weimin arranged the tasks, everyone quickly sprang into action. After all, this was a matter involving the A-level wanted criminal, Jiang Sanqiang, and there couldn’t be any negligence.
Fengxing Town Gas Station
The task that Luo Fei, Zhang Haiyang, auxiliary police officers Li Tian, and Ma Jiacheng received was to set up roadblocks at the Fengxing Town gas station to search vehicles and pedestrians coming and going.
Actually, both Luo Fei and Zhang Haiyang thought the probability of Jiang Sanqiang appearing here was very low. After all, Jiang Sanqiang was in Guangyuan County, and for him to come this way, he’d first need to pass through the county town. But by that time, the detectives had already set up roadblocks at all the exits in Guangyuan County leading to Ningjiang. Unless Jiang Sanqiang could fly, he had no way to get here.
However, regardless of their thoughts, since it was the arrangement from above, Luo Fei and Zhang Haiyang could only comply diligently.
By the time the roadblocks were set up, it was already one o’clock in the afternoon.
Even though it was supposed to be midday, the weather was increasingly dark and ominous, as if a violent storm would come any moment.
There was heavy traffic at the gas station, making the search work quite inconvenient. In just over two hours after the roadblocks were set up, hundreds of vehicles had already passed through.
"Do you think we’ll catch Jiang Sanqiang this time?" Luo Fei asked Zhang Haiyang when there were no cars passing.
Zhang Haiyang pondered for a moment, "It’s hard to say. Jiang Sanqiang is too skilled at disguising himself and escaping. Since he started committing crimes, he’s committed eleven crimes and the police have chased him more than ten times, but each time he managed to escape unscathed. So whether we can catch him this time, I can’t be certain."
"Of course, I hope we can successfully capture Jiang Sanqiang this time―otherwise, I don’t know how many more innocent people will fall victim to him."
"Yes," Luo Fei nodded too. Jiang Sanqiang had become completely insane with his killings. If such a person isn’t quickly captured, more people will die by his hands.
In the following days, Luo Fei stayed with Zhang Haiyang in Fengxing Town, waiting. There was no news on the capture of Jiang Sanqiang from Guangyuan County. It was said Jiang Sanqiang disappeared completely like he had evaporated after committing a crime in Daxing Town.
Because of the large-scale operations by Ningjiang’s police in recent days, coupled with the persistently gloomy weather, the whole Ningjiang County was engulfed in a sense of oppressive tension.
September 2, Wednesday, Ningjiang County, which had been shrouded in clouds, started pouring heavy rain, seemingly venting the emotions accumulated over the past few days, with occasional thunderclaps drowning out the sound.
From seven in the morning, the rain began and didn’t stop until three in the afternoon, growing even heavier.
At the Fengxing Town gas station, Luo Fei and Zhang Haiyang kept watch on either side of the roadblocks. The torrent on the highway converged into small streams. Although wearing raincoats, in such heavy rain, the raincoats provided little protection.
Regarding Li Tian and Ma Jiacheng, the two auxiliary police officers went to help the gas station owner move things since the rain was too heavy and the supermarket at the gas station was flooded, immersing many items in water.
3:10 PM
Luo Fei was just about to call Zhang Haiyang over, suggesting he take shelter in the supermarket from the rain first, as there were no vehicles passing by in such heavy rainfall.
Just then, vroom, vroom, vroom.
A red Jiangling motorcycle rode over from across the gas station, seemingly carrying a person wearing a red raincoat. Because of the heavy rain and the distance, Luo Fei couldn’t see clearly.
In no time, the motorcycle rode up to Luo Fei and Zhang Haiyang. Zhang Haiyang walked over to join Luo Fei.
Luo Fei now had the chance to closely examine the motorcycle and the man on it.
An old red Jiangling motorcycle and a man wearing a red raincoat; the raincoat’s hood was so long, Luo Fei couldn’t see the man’s facial features or determine his height, or whether he was fat or thin.
"Take off your hat," Zhang Haiyang instructed the man.
"Officer, in such heavy rain, one can catch a cold," the man’s deep voice seemed magnetic, likely appealing to many women.
"Stop talking nonsense. Aren’t you already wet? Quickly take off your hat," Zhang Haiyang said impatiently. Having been in the rain all day, Zhang Haiyang wasn’t in high spirits, and consequently, was a bit short-tempered.
"Alright, alright, you guys are really something." The man complained and took off his hat.
A man with long hair and a beard, displaying an artistic flair, appeared—a middle-aged man.
"Alright, you may go," Zhang Haiyang gestured for the man to leave, seeing he wasn’t Jiang Sanqiang.
The middle-aged man’s expression briefly showed disdain and mockery upon hearing Zhang Haiyang’s words.
Just as the middle-aged man was about to start his motorcycle to leave, he felt a hand clutch the back of his jacket, and the next moment, he was hurled off the motorcycle.
With a "bang," the artistic middle-aged man crashed heavily to the ground, splashing water everywhere. He felt as though his bones were shattered, but his years on the run instantly prompted him to act instinctively. Just as he reached for the gun inside his jacket, an iron grip twisted his hands brutally behind his back.
With a "click," the middle-aged man realized his hands were cuffed, unable to struggle any longer.
Then he heard a rather youthful voice.
"Jiang Sanqiang, you can’t escape this time, can you?"
Luo Fei cuffed the middle-aged man, retrieving a handgun from his jacket while coldly staring at the long-haired, bearded artistic middle-aged man.
This all happened in a flash—even as Luo Fei cuffed the middle-aged man, Zhang Haiyang hadn’t yet comprehended what transpired.
"Luo Fei, what’s going on?" Zhang Haiyang hurriedly asked, furrowing his brow.
Luo Fei looked at the long-haired, bearded artistic middle-aged man and explained to Zhang Haiyang, "Officer, he is Jiang Sanqiang. We almost got fooled by him."
"Jiang Sanqiang?"
Hearing Luo Fei claim the long-haired, bearded, artistic middle-aged man as Jiang Sanqiang, Zhang Haiyang’s face displayed stark astonishment. He walked a few steps closer, directly facing Jiang Sanqiang, scrutinizing the long-haired man intently.
"What are you looking at! I’m Jiang Sanqiang!" The long-haired artistic man glared coldly at Zhang Haiyang before cursing harshly.
Yet, Zhang Haiyang was utterly shocked, ignoring Jiang Sanqiang’s insult.
Jiang Sanqiang—for real? The A-level wanted criminal Jiang Sanqiang, whom the police pursued more than ten times for his myriad crimes.
Zhang Haiyang couldn’t believe they accidentally caught Jiang Sanqiang, finding it highly unbelievable.
They actually caught Jiang Sanqiang.
