Luo Fei stepped forward and directly grabbed Jiang Sanqiang’s hair, pulling it slightly, and indeed a bald head was revealed.
Jiang Sanqiang turned around and sat directly in the puddle, looking at Luo Fei, fiercely licking the rainwater from the corner of his mouth, and curiously asked, "How did you figure out I was Jiang Sanqiang? I thought I disguised myself well, without any flaws."
"Your style doesn’t match. You wear artsy long hair and a beard, yet ride a tacky Jiangling motorcycle, which looks bizarre. Next, I have a keen nose. There’s a persistent bloody smell on you, and lastly, your eyes. I have a great memory. I’ve seen your picture on TV, and although you’ve trimmed your eyebrows and grown long hair and a beard, and your face shape isn’t quite the same as before, your eyes haven’t changed."
"As soon as you got close, I smelled the thick bloody scent on you. When you took off your hat, the moment I saw your eyes, I knew it was you, Jiang Sanqiang."
"Hahaha," Jiang Sanqiang suddenly burst into loud laughter, then lay straight back. The rain continued heavily, and the puddle on the road even submerged his face.
"Cough, cough."
Jiang Sanqiang, choked by the water, sat up.
"This is good. I don’t want to run anymore. I’m tired and can’t run anymore," Jiang Sanqiang suddenly lowered his head, speaking to himself with some desolation.
Then Zhang Haiyang called Zhou Weimin, telling him they caught Jiang Sanqiang.
At first, Zhou Weimin thought Zhang Haiyang was just joking around after having nothing better to do, but when Zhang Haiyang repeatedly confirmed catching Jiang Sanqiang, and with Luo Fei corroborating, Zhou Weimin finally believed Luo Fei and the others caught Jiang Sanqiang.
Upon receiving Zhang Haiyang’s call, Zhou Weimin immediately reported the news to Police Commissioner Wu Cheng, who wasted no time and quickly headed to the Fengxing Town gas station with his team.
By the time Zhou Weimin and Commissioner Wu Cheng arrived at the Fengxing Town gas station, Jiang Sanqiang was already handcuffed to the iron railing beside the gas station by Luo Fei and Zhang Haiyang.
Wu Cheng stepped forward and carefully examined Jiang Sanqiang, confirming that the bald man with a beard in front of him was indeed Jiang Sanqiang, who was wanted by the Ministry of Public Security.
Upon learning that it was Luo Fei who had uncovered Jiang Sanqiang’s disguise and captured him, Wu Cheng couldn’t help but praise Luo Fei, saying that he was a talented and outstanding figure from Ningjiang County.
Subsequently, Jiang Sanqiang was taken to the Criminal Police Team, where Captain Zhao Donglai had gone to Guangyuan County to arrest Jiang Sanqiang, and Yang Su was currently in charge.
Yang Su, who had previously had a falling out with Zhao Donglai, knew that the Criminal Police Team was headed to capture Jiang Sanqiang in Guangyuan County. As the action group leader, Yang Su naturally felt obligated, but Zhao Donglai insisted he stay in Ningjiang County, which left Yang Su quite frustrated.
Who could have known that Jiang Sanqiang would be caught by the precinct people in Ningjiang County? No one could have expected that when Yang Su received the news, asking him to take over Jiang Sanqiang, he was utterly baffled and found it hard to believe.
On the other hand, in Guangyuan County,
To capture the wanted criminal Jiang Sanqiang, a task force led by the Jiangzhou City Public Security Bureau was holding a meeting to strategize his arrest.
Zhao Donglai was diligently taking notes when suddenly his phone on the table vibrated.
Zhao Donglai initially didn’t want to answer but seeing it was Ningjiang County Public Security Bureau’s Director Wu Cheng calling, he quietly left the office to take the call.
Then Zhao Donglai learned from Wu Cheng that Jiang Sanqiang was captured by Luo Fei in Ningjiang County.
Upon hearing this news, Zhao Donglai’s first reaction was disbelief. How was this possible?
Who was Jiang Sanqiang? A man who had continuously evaded capture by the Ministry of Public Security, held accountable for over ten human lives, even capable of killing detectives. And Luo Fei? A newly appointed junior officer at the precinct for less than half a year. How could Luo Fei possibly capture Jiang Sanqiang?
And wasn’t Jiang Sanqiang in Guangyuan County? How did he suddenly end up in Ningjiang County?
In summary, everything seemed to make Zhao Donglai feel that the news of Jiang Sanqiang being captured was unreliable. However, the fact that Wu Cheng, who had no reason to deceive him, confirmed Jiang Sanqiang’s capture, made him reconsider.
With a mix of doubt and shock, he returned to his office.
Noticing Zhao Donglai’s unusual demeanor, several colleagues asked him what was wrong, and Zhao Donglai relayed the news he had just received to them.
Everyone’s reaction mirrored Zhao Donglai’s: suspicious, shocked to disbelief.
Ningjiang County Criminal Police Team
Police Commissioner Wu Cheng personally interrogated Jiang Sanqiang.
Jiang Sanqiang was very cooperative, detailing all his crimes clearly, describing the motives and processes for each murder.
He also explained how he repeatedly escaped from captures, largely thanks to his advanced disguise techniques, which were nearly flawless and one of the primary reasons he hadn’t been apprehended.
Naturally, Jiang Sanqiang’s repeated escapes weren’t just due to his disguise skills. He possessed strong anti-detection awareness and carefully selected his targets each time.
This time, his murder of Zhao You and his family of three in Daxing Town was also well planned. There was a river called Shaluo River about ten kilometers from Daxing Town, running through Cangyuan County, Guangyuan County, and four other county towns, including Ningjiang County.
Entering the nearest Ningjiang County area from Daxing Town by normal driving would take at least six hours, meaning Jiang Sanqiang needed six hours to leave the Guangyuan County area. In Jiang Sanqiang’s expectation, from the time he killed Zhao You to when the Guangyuan County police discovered the bodies and reacted, it should have only taken two hours, allowing the Guangyuan County police to lock down the entire Guangyuan County.
Indeed, the Guangyuan County police established roadblocks at all entrances and exits to the county as soon as they discovered Zhao You and his family of three were killed, conducting searches. The county was sealed off in less than three hours.
So, generally speaking, had Jiang Sanqiang chosen to drive out of Guangyuan County, he wouldn’t have been able to escape before the local police responded, which is why the police concluded that Jiang Sanqiang didn’t have the time to leave Guangyuan County. The provincial department thus deployed officers from four nearby districts and counties to Guangyuan County to search for and arrest Jiang Sanqiang.
But in fact, Jiang Sanqiang left Guangyuan County two hours after the crime, entering the Ningjiang County area.
Jiang Sanqiang chose to jump into the Shaluo River to leave Guangyuan County.
As for why the police didn’t consider Jiang Sanqiang taking the Shaluo River out of Guangyuan County, it’s not that it wasn’t considered, but it was deemed too unlikely.
The reason being, along the stretch of the Shaluo River from Guangyuan County to Ningjiang County, the banks are steep mountains, and the river is winding and narrow, which makes the current very turbulent. Even boats can’t pass through this area, let alone people.
But Jiang Sanqiang did just that and succeeded. He relied on a big log, following the Shaluo River from Guangyuan County into Ningjiang County in just two hours.
