Getting Stronger By Fighting

CHAPTER 96: CHAPTER 96: LET ME DO IT!_1
Wang Zhan’s words left the people from the Royal Martial Arts Academy perplexed.
However, they were in the middle of hunting beasts, so the majority still continued to besiege the lower Soldier-level beast. Only William and Ally moved towards Wang Zhan.
"Kid, I don’t care which Martial Arts Academy you’re from, you’d better get lost quickly, or don’t blame me for being impolite." William clenched his fists, which made continuous cracking sounds, looking as if he was ready to fight at any moment.
With a harmless smile on his face, Wang Zhan came to a standstill about three to four meters in front of William.
"Haven’t I already said I’m here to settle a bill? You hit my people, don’t you think there will be consequences?"
As he said this, the others from the Royal Martial Arts Academy were on the verge of killing the soldier-level beast.
The moment his voice fell, Wang Zhan suddenly burst out at top speed, his figure turning into an afterimage as he bypassed both William and Ally.
"So fast!" William’s expression was one of shock.
Ally seemed to realize something, but it was too late to stop him. She could only hurriedly turn back and shout, "Stop him!"
But with Wang Zhan at full speed, even the prodigies of the Royal Martial Arts Academy were left in his dust.
In an instant, before anyone could react, Wang Zhan had reached the nearly dead soldier-level beast besieged by the Royal Martial Arts Academy. He held the soldier-level dagger, unused for a long time, and with one strike, pierced the center of the beast’s forehead.
’Power +7’
’Agility +2’
’Physique +6’
Familiar prompts sounded. A satisfied smile appeared on Wang Zhan’s face. Then, he casually flicked the dagger, and a lower Soldier-level beast’s core was in his hand.
By the time Wang Zhan had finished, the people from the Royal Martial Arts Academy finally reacted.
It wasn’t that these prodigies were too weak; what happened in a flash was utterly beyond their expectations.
Some unknown person had suddenly appeared out of nowhere, killed the soldier-level beast they had beaten to near death, and even snatched the beast core.
What in the world was going on? When had the Royal Martial Arts Academy ever suffered such a loss?
"Kid, are you courting death!" Seeing Wang Zhan take the beast core and prepare to flee, the nearest Level 9 Martial Artist roared and charged at him.
Wang Zhan didn’t stop. When the Level 9 Martial Artist got close, he simply delivered a backhand slap without even turning his head!
Wang Zhan had already reached the peak of Level 9, with only his extreme attribute points yet to be maxed out.
But 50% of the extreme attributes was enough for him to absolutely overpower any Martial Artist.
Even the top prodigies of the Royal Martial Arts Academy were definitely no match for Wang Zhan.
Not to mention, the one attacking Wang Zhan now was just a nameless minion.
The sudden slap, accompanied by the whistling sound of displaced air, landed squarely on the Level 9 Martial Artist’s face. He didn’t even have a chance to scream before the immense force knocked him out cold, his eyes rolling back.
He fell to the ground, the hit side of his face already greatly swollen, his body occasionally convulsing in his unconscious state.
"Wiell!" The others could hardly believe their eyes, seeing their companion defeated in a single blow and severely injured.
Seizing this opportunity, Wang Zhan had already fled a good distance.
If the people from the Royal Martial Arts Academy wanted to give chase, it was already too late.
William and Ally quickly arrived nearby. William’s expression was thunderous, but Ally still maintained her cold and emotionless demeanor.
Ally first crouched down to examine their fallen companion, and then her expression finally changed slightly.
"His jaw is shattered. That guy strikes ruthlessly," Ally said, frowning.
"Is he a companion of the female Martial Artist who escaped yesterday? Which Martial Arts Academy is he from?" William said angrily.
Ally shook her head slightly. "I don’t know. We had no contact with other Martial Arts Academies before this competition, so we still have zero intel on our opponents."
"Senior William, are we just going to let that guy get away like that?" Someone from the Royal Martial Arts Academy asked, filled with righteous indignation.
William remained silent for a moment, then shook his head. "Forget it. The competition is more important. It’s Wiell’s own fault for being so weak and getting knocked out by one slap like that. He’s not worth us wasting time to avenge him. Besides, his absence won’t make a difference."
"A couple of you carry Wiell back. The rest, continue hunting," William commanded.
No one from the Royal Martial Arts Academy said anything more.
Only after Wiell was carried away did Ally stand up and say, "That guy just now was incredibly fast. And when he passed us, the aura he inadvertently revealed wasn’t weak either—perhaps even on par with ours."
"Hmph, he just caught us off guard. Next time he dares to show his face in front of me, I’ll let him know what a true power gap means." William said disdainfully, "I’ve dealt with those prodigies from the Four Major Martial Arts Academies. This guy is just some fluke from one of those third-rate Martial Arts Academies, not worth mentioning."
In William’s eyes, any Martial Arts Academy other than the Four Major Martial Arts Academies was merely third-rate.
Ally said nothing more, just stared in the direction Wang Zhan had disappeared, her gaze held a deep, thoughtful expression.
...
Meanwhile, Wang Zhan had successfully reunited with Sun Kelan.
Upon seeing Wang Zhan return, Sun Kelan eagerly grabbed his arm, her face full of excitement.
"Captain, you’re too... too..."
She stammered for a moment, unable to form a complete sentence.
Initially, Sun Kelan had thought that after being bullied by the Royal Martial Arts Academy, she would likely never get revenge in her lifetime.
Even if Wang Zhan was powerful, he couldn’t possibly fight all seven of them alone, let alone confront members of the Four Major Martial Arts Academies head-on just because she had suffered a slight grievance.
But she had witnessed everything Wang Zhan did today. To Sun Kelan, he was clearly standing up for her.
Of course, if Sun Kelan knew Wang Zhan did this primarily for attribute points, she probably wouldn’t be so excited right now.
"Alright, this isn’t over yet." Wang Zhan shook his head slightly. "Now that we’ve found these guys, things will be easier. Ke Lan, your injuries haven’t fully healed yet, so you should go back for now. I’ll stay and ’play’ with them for a while by myself."
Sun Kelan looked taken aback. "Captain, you’re going to continue?"
"Of course. It would be a waste not to use such a perfect group of ’tools’," Wang Zhan chuckled. With a flip of his hand, the soldier-level beast core he had just snatched appeared.
"As long as I don’t get entangled with them in a direct fight, no one can stop me. Given this, why shouldn’t I follow them and pick up some easy gains? Opportunities like this are hard to come by."
Wang Zhan patted Sun Kelan’s shoulder. "Alright, don’t worry about me. I know what I’m doing. You head back first."
After Wang Zhan persuaded her a few more times, Sun Kelan eventually headed off alone towards the Melted Cave.
Once Sun Kelan had left, Wang Zhan once again secretly trailed behind the Royal Martial Arts Academy team.
Wang Zhan didn’t actually care much whether he snatched the beast core or not; he was concerned about landing the final blow on the soldier-level beasts.
Once he also broke through to soldier-level, he wouldn’t have to be as cautious as he was now.
...
It was still before noon. After being ambushed by Wang Zhan, the members of the Royal Martial Arts Academy didn’t feel much resentment. They just felt that the ambusher probably wouldn’t dare to return, and simply brushed it off as a minor annoyance.
It was just one lower Soldier-level beast that had been stolen. A beast of this level was nothing to the Royal Martial Arts Academy team. Not to mention, within a radius of tens of kilometers, there were at least dozens more such beasts. They could afford the loss of one.
By noon, after a brief rest, the Royal Martial Arts Academy team set off again.
The two team members responsible for escorting Wiell back to their temporary encampment also returned. The Royal Martial Arts Academy team, now numbering six, resumed hunting beasts.
Wang Zhan trailed far behind the Royal Martial Arts Academy team, witnessing their arrogance and domineering behavior along the way.
"Sheesh, they treat the wilderness of Oceania like their own backyard, attacking any beast on sight, regardless of its level. So arrogant." Wang Zhan couldn’t help but marvel at their brazenness.
Following them, Wang Zhan witnessed them attacking any beast they encountered without a second thought, as if there was nothing at all for them to be wary of.
One or two times was understandable. But when Wang Zhan noticed they did this every time, a suspicion began to form in his mind.
"After all, they are one of the Four Major Martial Arts Academies. Their standing in the Federation far surpasses our Chu State Military Martial Arts Academy. These guys don’t seem like idiots. Could it be they’ve received some intel that others don’t know about?"
The more Wang Zhan pondered, the more plausible it seemed.
"That must be it! The people from the Royal Martial Arts Academy must know for sure that there are no beasts in this area they can’t handle. That’s why they dare to be so brazen!"
Having figured this out, Wang Zhan cursed the conspiracies under his breath.
"They made such a big secret of things when we arrived. But it turns out the Four Major Martial Arts Academies likely had intelligence all along, while our Chu State Military Martial Arts Academy was left completely in the dark, knowing nothing."
The preferential treatment was just too obvious.
Meanwhile, the Royal Martial Arts Academy team had already found another soldier-level beast.
Wang Zhan lurked nearby, slowly closing in. Soon, he was only about ten-odd meters from the battle.
He hid within the canopy of a big tree, his eyes quietly observing the Royal Martial Arts Academy’s fight through gaps in the leaves.
Except for the sole female Martial Artist, everyone else was directly engaging the soldier-level beast.
Especially the tall one; he was clearly a cut above the others.
"William... Ally..." Wang Zhan mused.
This was the information Sun Kelan had provided; she only knew these two were the leaders of the Royal Martial Arts Academy team.
Soon, the besieged soldier-level beast was on its last legs.
Wang Zhan, who had been eagerly waiting, leaped out.
"Leave this to me!"
