CHAPTER 111: JAXON

Cecilia wanted to take Emma to visit Elena’s house today, as she had the day off. However, Emma waved her hand and said with confidence, "Mommy, I’m going to make big money today. Please apologize to Great Grandma for me!"

Cecilia shook her head helplessly. Letting Emma play was fine; after all, she had been in school all week. With that in mind, she went out alone and headed to Elena’s house.

As soon as she arrived, she heard an unfamiliar male voice.

"Big Brother and Sister-in-law, you should listen to me!"

She quietly walked in and sat in a corner, listening to their conversation. The speaker resembled James by about fifty percent, which meant he was James’ brother and Mary’s father, Grayson.

He looked a few years younger than James. Despite the fact that they look alike, he didn’t have James’ friendly eyes but instead seemed more shrewd.

Next to Grayson sat a somewhat younger man, seated beside Mary. He was presumably her husband, Jaxon. Cecilia had heard about him from Elena, saying he came from a good family and was handsome; most importantly, he treated Mary well.

Indeed, his hand never left Mary’s shoulder as he frequently poured water for her. One could say he was very attentive, which might explain why Mary was so spoiled, as she believed everyone should pamper her.

Cecilia couldn’t help but think that Mary was really spoiled. Jaxon was clearly indulging her deliberately, gradually undermining her power and judgment so he could take control over it. The previous issue with the factory rights transfer was proof of this, but Mary was still so oblivious.

They hadn’t noticed Cecilia’s presence yet as Grayson continued to speak, "Sister-in-law, this project with the Anderson family’s cosmetics is excellent. They said if we invest another ten million, they will give us an additional three percent in dividends. You need to decide quickly."

Elena frowned. "I really don’t have that much money..."

He quickly added, "Money is easy to deal with; I can introduce you to someone who can give us a loan. With your social status, getting a ten-million loan is no problem at all!"

James was also hesitant. He said, "But we really find it difficult to trust these unknown loans..."

Their indecisive attitude made Mary impatient. She said irritably, "Take it or leave it! If we hadn’t run out of collateral, why would this good opportunity even fall into your lap?! You have been so hesitant from the start, even trusting an outsider like Cecilia with stock investments rather than your own family. It’s hopeless!"

"Anyway, you wouldn’t understand even if we told you! You’re stuck with your little piece of land for life!"

Hearing Mary mention her, Cecilia decided to stop hiding and speak from behind them, "Great-aunt has made her stance very clear, but it seems like you’re the one who has comprehension problems right now."

Everyone turned to see her sitting behind them without their notice. Seeing Cecilia reminded Mary of the recent confrontation, and she felt anger boiling inside.

"What are you, a ghost? Why are you eavesdropping on people?!"

Jaxon, standing next to her, noticed Cecilia and sized her up before speaking, "Are you the one who hit my wife last time?"

Cecilia nodded.

He rolled up his sleeves, ready to avenge Mary. "How dare you bully my wife! You must have a death wish!"

Elena quickly stood up to intervene, but before she could reach Cecilia, his fist was already swinging toward Cecilia.
