Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge
Chapter 126: She had twins
CHAPTER 126: SHE HAD TWINS
Zane was about to report the results when he suddenly noticed the big, shiny gold watch on Steven’s wrist.
‘Isn’t this... the kind of flashy wear that Mr. Lawrence hates the most?’
Steven noticed Zane’s confusion and looked at the watch, saying, "It’s a gift from my daughter. Got a problem with that?"
Zane quickly shook his head and got back to business.
"We found out that Cecilia lost her mother at a young age and turned mute from that. After her father, Frank Morrison, remarried, she mostly stayed out of sight. When she was nineteen, she suddenly conceived a child out of wedlock and got her engagement with the Kingsley family cancelled. Rumor has it she didn’t even know who the child’s father was, and it was considered indiscreet..."
Steven frowned at this.
"We already know all that, and its authenticity is uncertain. Tell me something we don’t know."
Zane nodded.
"But what people don’t know is that back then, Cecilia didn’t just give birth to a daughter; she had twins."
Steven’s eyes widened in surprise. Twins?!
His mind raced—everything made sense now!
Why did she suddenly approach Alex, knowing about all of Alex’s affairs, and why did she never let him meet Emma?
Cecilia had known Alex was her son for a long time!
"Cecilia is Alex’s biological mother," Steven concluded, making Zane realize the truth.
‘So that’s how it is...’
"Previously, you thought Miss Morrison was approaching the young master because she had a crush on you. Turns out she likes the young master, which is why she approached you..."
Steven shot Zane a murderous look, making the latter promptly shut his mouth and lower his head.
Finding out that Cecilia was Alex and Emma’s biological mother was actually a relief for him—he knew her character well.
However, he felt slightly bitter when he realized she had approached him only for Alex.
Zane spoke up again, "Sir, what should we do now?"
Steven stroked the watch on his wrist and pondered.
"For now, don’t act rashly. Let’s act like we know nothing about it until I can gauge her out."
A few days later, Cecilia received an invitation from Elena to attend a banquet.
She didn’t want to go at first, but then she considered that the Mitchells and the Brut family would be there, possibly making things difficult for Elena. She was much too old to be bullied by such people.
Thus, she decided to go.
This was a business innovation type of banquet, mostly attended by smaller companies. The highest status there was Mona of the Anderson family.
Upon arriving, Cecilia noticed there weren’t many people. The venue was also quite small, so she planned to just sit in the corner, have a drink, and then leave with Elena.
On the other hand, Elena had arrived on her own and, upon seeing Cecilia, went over to her.
"Great-aunt, where is Great-uncle?"
Elena sighed and said, "Ever since Mary left, the company’s affairs have fallen on our shoulders. We’ve seen the mess she left behind for us, so your uncle’s very busy now."
Cecilia nodded. There was no need to attend such a banquet if the company was busy, which meant they were starting to get back on track.
"Great-aunt, this banquet isn’t much. Let’s have a drink and leave."
Elena looked at the few scattered people and nodded.
"I originally planned to introduce some companies to you at this banquet. If you get interested in any of their businesses, then the Mitchell family will cooperate with them. By then, we will hand over the family’s industry for you to manage."
"Although the cash flow isn’t much, it’s better than you and your daughter living in hotels all the time. With an industry, the two of you won’t have to worry anymore, and your uncle and I can be at peace when we go."
Cecilia understood Elena’s good intentions. The Mitchell family’s industry wasn’t as strong as it used to be, but it still had its foundation. This party was the most suitable place for Cecilia to seek out small companies and open up new directions. This way, even if Elena and James passed away, she would still be the successor to their industry, ensuring she would live a comfortable life regardless of her capabilities.
With both of them being old, they didn’t know how long they had left. This was the last thing they could do for Cecilia.
Just as she was about to comfort Elena, a group of people walked over—Mary, Grayson, and Jaxon.
"Oh, what a touching sight. But Aunt, even if you give her an industry, she would probably squander everything before you even die!"
