CHAPTER 127: I TRUST CECILIA

Elena adjusted her expression and retorted, "I trust Cecilia."

Mary laughed as if she had just heard the biggest joke in the world, her face trembling uncontrollably with laughter.

"You trust her? Isn’t she just a country woman trying to mingle with high society by claiming family ties with you? You don’t trust me, yet you put so much trust in her. Sooner or later, she will take everything from you—once she leaves you on the streets, you better not come begging me to take you back!"

Elena’s expression turned cold as she replied, "No. At least Cecilia made money from stocks, while you were close to emptying the company when you were around."

Grayson interjected with disdain, "Stock trading? Never mind that, but the stock she picked only made a bit recently. I already did a check, and that stock is worthless!"

"If you don’t believe it, go and check it now. I bet the principal is long gone!"

Elena was a bit taken aback; she had left the money for Cecilia to manage and hadn’t checked in for a while. However, she couldn’t let anyone bully Cecilia.

"I’m willingly giving my money for Cecilia to invest in stocks. We have no obligation to show it to you."

He taunted, "I think you just don’t have the guts to show us! Sister-in-law, if you submit to us now and give us that villa, we might consider taking care of you..."

Elena was infuriated by their disgusting behavior, pointing at him. However, her decency stopped her from uttering any vulgar words to curse him.

Cecilia took out her phone, swiped a few times, and then showed it to everyone. "No need, save your money for a coffin. I’ll take care of Great-aunt; she doesn’t need your concern."

The crowd looked at her phone, and the page displayed showed that the initial investment of three million dollars had now doubled, with a total of seven million in the account!

In less than a month, it had earned four million!

Everyone was dumbfounded. After that, she took back her phone and was about to pull Elena to sit in the corner when Mary’s unconvinced voice sounded again, "What’s so great about earning four million?! My investments can earn several times more than that!"

Cecilia shook her head, ignoring her as she sat down in a corner. Though the banquet was dull, the wines served were quite good, with a rich fragrance that persuaded her to enjoy an extra drink.

While Cecilia was sipping her wine, Elena observed for any suitable companies to collaborate with.

Mary’s family was a bit embarrassed by Cecilia’s success, which dampened their moods. Mary had a sour look in particular, her naturally grumpy face now looking even angrier.

A small company owner approached her enthusiastically, beginning to introduce herself. "Hello, Ms. Mitchell. I’m Grace, the owner of a US Internet Company. I’ve heard so much about you and was thrilled to finally meet you today!"

As he said this, Grace raised his glass to Mary in a toast. However, Mary didn’t even glance at her and sneered, "Why would I care what your name is? Companies like yours wouldn’t even last three months, but you’re shameless enough to dream of associating with me? Keep on wishing!"

As she said that, she gave Cecilia a sidelong glance before continuing, "The security in this party needs to be improved; just about anyone can get in..."

After having been berated by Mary, Grace was frozen in place for a moment. Then, she held back her tears as she prepared to leave. "Sorry for disturbing you, Ms. Mitchell..."

As she was about to leave, Mary suddenly stopped her. Mary’s eyes shifted cunningly, with a sinister look flashing through them. "Well... Grace, right? If you agree to do one thing for me, I’ll consider collaborating with your company."

Grace was thrilled; her company did need partnerships. Mary’s words weren’t wrong—without a good background, small companies like hers would quickly be eliminated in today’s competitive market, so she was relentlessly seeking higher platforms. She had even struggled so much just to secure the invitation to this banquet.

After Grace nodded, Mary whispered in her ear, and her expression gradually turned unnatural. Then, Mary looked over at Cecilia. "Now, go!"

Grace looked a bit troubled, glanced at Cecilia in the corner, and slowly approached her. Though Cecilia was still tasting her wine, she had been observing Mary, as she knew the latter wouldn’t give up easily. Seeing Grace walking toward her, Cecilia’s lips curved up into a smile. She was curious to see what Mary was planning to do!
