CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 48: FACE-OFF WITH THE CULT (2)

Zaen didn’t have to have eyes to gauge the strange man’s strength. He had a powerful aura of authority around him. Also, he looked... different from the rest of his squad.

In a way, he looked like a leader, most probably because of his silhouette. His straight, knee-length brown hair had a tinge of neon green at the ends.

Also, there were metallic chains attached to the hair like extensions, but they were moving in weird patterns as if they had a mind of their own. Call it intuition, but something was telling Zaen to keep away from those chains.

However, while he was worrying about the chains, the man raised his fist to punch Zaen. There wasn’t much space in the alleyway for Zaen to dodge the incoming attack. So he improvised.

Before the man’s fist could reach him, Zaen rushed towards the man, slipped past him and kicked him in the head. The same maneuver Jenna had used to sacrifice over half his brain cells.

The man couldn’t control his momentum and slammed right into the wall, leaving a large dent in it. He ended up getting injured, but the man was even more stubborn than Zaen.

He got up and charged at him again, but this time the chains linked with his hair attacked Zaen like whips.

"Woah, why so serious?" Zaen mumbled, dodging the whips expertly.

Just training for a single day with Jenna had improved his reaction speed a lot. It almost made him think getting beaten up wasn’t so bad, but then just as quickly the thought disappeared from his mind.

While the chain-haired man attacked him, the rest of his crew didn’t remain idle. Two of the covered the exit, while the third secured the dead ghoul and left the alleyway along with the corpse.

What kind of teammates are they? They won’t bother joining the fight? Not like I’m complaining about it.

It wasn’t because they didn’t want to fight, but because they didn’t need to. Nemesis, the orange-skinned man, was their leader for a reason. Taking out the likes of a strange man with bandages on his eyes wasn’t a problem for him.

However, it seemed their overconfidence wasn’t paying off.

"Stay still!" Nemesis roared.

"It wouldn’t be much of a fight if I did that, would it?"

Zaen’s voice was cut off by the feminine one. She didn’t join the attack but warned Zaen from the sidelines.

"I told you that creature was our property, and yet you decided to ignore the warning and do as you pleased? This is your last chance. Do you have anything to say in your defense?"

Zaen tilted his head, wondering since when the bad guys began asking for a defense from someone who foiled their plan. Still, he was too focused on dodging the whips, so he couldn’t reply through words.

Thankfully, he knew exactly how to convey his feelings. So, like the gentleman he was, he flipped his middle finger at the woman.

"You... fine by me. I’ve been itching to rough someone up. Guess it’s going to be you," the girl replied, cracking her knuckles.

However, she had barely taken a step when Zaen turned and struck her. Nemesis’s constantly swirling chains protected him from such attacks, but the remaining two of them were defenseless as they didn’t expect Zaen to suddenly target them.

With a single punch, Zaen took out the woman and kicked the other guy as well. Both of them went flying in opposite directions before slamming against the walls.

They... are quite weak?

Seeing them put on the airs, Zaen had assumed they’d be strong and didn’t hold back while hitting them. To his surprise, they got folded in half like paper.

Seeing his men being treated like flies, filled Nemesis with anger. He was planning to bring the bandaged man along with him and make him a part of his crew as he had quite a few skills.

But now he had changed his mind. He was going to break each and every bone inside the masked man’s body. He’ll make him beg for forgiveness, then break him more!

Nemesis grabbed a handful of his hair and began swinging erratically. The walls and the pavement, anything that came in contact with the whips shattered.

Zaen was dodging his attacks, but with each swing, the chain-whip got closer and closer to him. He was in a bad position. The alley gave him next to nothing in terms of space to outmaneuver the Goliath in front of him.

As if that wasn’t enough, the woman he had just dealt with got back up. But something was strange. Her face had flattened right where he had punched her, at least that’s how her silhouette appeared to him.

In reality, she had transformed after shedding her cutesy persona. Instead of skin, her entire body was covered in strange gray scales. Even her mouth had split open, and her hands and feet had grown claws.

She was looking more like a lizard with boobs than a woman.

She shot towards Zaen, who couldn’t even notice her because of her speed. The lizard woman got closer and was about to snap his neck when he ducked and hit her with the sword, but nothing happened!

The Boning Sword just bounced off the scales and didn’t do any damage. Emboldened by Zaen’s loss of attack, the woman lunged at him again, but he sidestepped her attack.

A second later, the sword in his hands turned into a crowbar.

Before the woman could realize what was happening, the crowbar swung in a perfect low arc as its curved head got buried in her asshole.

"ARGH!"

Nemesis’s whips fell to the ground in shock. Even Zaen was taken aback because he was aiming for the lizard’s waist, not... the other thing.

He hurriedly yanked the crowbar back, wanting to save some of the woman’s pride. But the moment he did that, he unintentionally triggered the tool’s function.

Her fate was the same as the door.

The woman’s innards rained down in the alley, covering everything in blood and chunks of flesh.
