CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 69: BROTHER-IN-LAW

While Zaen was sorting out the mess in the Prison world, trouble was brewing in the real one.

Seven men clad in crisp suits were huddled outside his room. The constant murmuring sound inevitably broke Zaen’s sleep as his sensitive hearing picked up everything they said.

"Young Master, this is the room assigned to you by the higher-ups. I have already analyzed the feng shui of this place. Staying here is sure to cure your laziness."

"Not to mention, this room has the best angles. According to my knowledge, it should stay warm in winter and cool in summer!" Another man said with a fawning smile, standing in front of a small chubby boy who looked uninterested in being there.

However, not everyone was singing praises of the room, or the campus, to begin with.

"No matter what you say, this campus really can’t compare to the South. The construction anomaly used isn’t top-notch, and the environment is poor. Not to mention, getting here alone would be an issue."

"Just look at how these houses are built, oh my, what is this? The wall peels off layer by layer! And these facilities? Young Master, you absolutely cannot stay here."

"Yes, yes. Why don’t we just go back? Young Miss has also joined the campus, the name of the Cho family wouldn’t be disgraced even if you left—"

Smack!

The so-called Young Master slapped the one who wanted him to leave. The chubby boy puffed out his chest, looking around at everyone else.

"Grandfather tasked me with a special mission," the boy said. "I must find a decent son-in-law here for the Cho family. You already know my sister is hopeless when it comes to these things. Only I am worthy of selecting my brother-in-law."

The faces of the guards around him instantly fell. They had assumed the young master Cho was there to accompany his twin sister to fend off any suitors, but it was the opposite case!

He was there to find one for her.

"Is that why you bought so many gifts on our way here, young master Ben?" a servant asked.

"Of course," Ben Cho replied, his hands resting on his waist. "We must buy anyone who looks like a worthy suitor."

"Young master is so thoughtful!"

"We cannot compare!"

"My apologies, young master, I couldn’t see Mt. Tai."

"...what are you talking about? Why do you want to see a mountain here?" Ben asked, looking at him weirdly.

The servants exchanged glances but didn’t bother telling him. The truth was that the servants only hovered around Ben because his family was rich, and unlike his sister Elina Cho, he wasn’t the brightest tool in the shed.

As long as they kept Ben safe, their families would live in a luxury that most people could only dream about. In a twisted way, that made them loyal to him. After all, as long as Ben Cho remained safe and alive, they’d receive their paychecks.

It was also why they wanted him to drop out of the school that was located in the middle of nowhere. Why you ask? Because the moment he entered the dorm, their jobs would be over, and their days of idling with it.

No servants were allowed in the academy since the place was considered to be the safest place in the country. This meant that after dropping Ben off, the servants would have to return to the Cho family and actually work for once.

With a tired sigh, a servant opened the door, only to see someone else already inside the room. Suddenly, a smile formed on the servant’s lips as they found an outlet for their frustrations and possibly get a parting bonus from the young master while they were at it.

"Who is this bastard?"

"How dare he occupy the room before the young master?"

"Throw him out. Young Master must have the first pick of the beds, too!"

Three servants rushed inside before Ben could stop them. It was their usual routine back in the normal world.

They had done the same thing thousands of times, but the patriarch had told Ben to form connections with strong individuals there, and he didn’t want to ruin his image as soon as he entered the academy.

Not to mention... everyone there had special abilities. It would be catastrophic if they angered the wrong person.

"Oi, stop, I say!" Ben yelled, but it was too late.

One of them grabbed the covers and yanked them away. As he did, Zaen shot out of the bed, grabbed two of them by the neck, and kicked the third.

Since he had been asleep, he forgot to control his strength. The man went flying away and crashed into the wall right next to the door, creating another ’door’ on his way out.

No one had recovered from the creation of the second door when Zaen slammed the heads of the other two servants together, knocking them out.

"Now if you’re done throwing your tantrum," Zaen said, gathering the sheet. "You can take the other bed and let me sleep."

It wasn’t until then that Ben and the others noticed the blindfold covering his eyes. He also had a walking stick’s strap latched onto his left wrist.

"...the walking stick?" Ben’s eyes widened, and he immediately lunged, grabbing Zaen’s leg. "Brother-in-law! I found you!"

Zaen looked at the creature whose silhouette resembled a well-fed pig waiting to be slaughtered, and he wouldn’t hesitate to become the slaughterer.

He had already heard them talking about his twin sister, and honestly, the brother didn’t leave a good enough impression on Zaen for him to even consider giving another pig a chance.

"I already have my hands full with strange women," Zaen said as he casually pulled Ben off his leg. "Find someone else for your sister."

"No can do! Only if you marry into the family can we research the stick!"

Zaen thought his impression of the Chos couldn’t get worse, but it did in that moment.

Seriously? Selling your sister for an artefact?

Zaen held on to the shred of rationale and threw the piggy to the spare bed before drifting to sleep.
