CHAPTER 273: CHAPTER 267: WHO DOESN’T PREFER MORE GOLDEN TREASURE CHESTS?_2

Without their vigilance, the always cautious Lin Yue was unwilling to face any unfamiliar mutated creatures alone.

Both the Golden Poison Thorn Spider and the Lion-headed Bear were the same.

Who knows how many kinds of mutated creatures might exist in these underground ruins several meters deep?

But speaking of it, where did the Lion-headed Bear come from anyway...?

Lin Yue was very interested in the Lion-headed Bear.

Who wouldn’t prefer the Golden Treasure Chest a little more?

However, the Lion-headed Bear had only been seen in the underground ruins; there’s nowhere else he had heard of their existence.

Killing a Lion-headed Bear and getting a Golden Treasure Chest is certainly better than a Copper Treasure Chest, and the things inside are naturally... wait, last time in Zone F, after opening a Golden Treasure Chest, I got a regional map of Zone F; will this one also contain something similar?

[You obtained: Underground Ruins C Zone Regional Map, MP5 Submachine Gun Design!]

Submachine gun!

Lin Yue was certainly delighted to find the regional map of Underground Ruins C Zone within, as it meant no more worrying about memorizing routes; this map would perfectly guide him through the region!

But the appearance of the submachine gun excited him even more!

The submachine gun is really something great.

Even if there’s a large group of Lizardmen, a submachine gun becomes an enormous deterrent weapon!

Though the power might be somewhat lacking, relatively speaking, this thing is a divine artifact for mass area damage.

Lin Yue glanced at the design, which wasn’t much different from the M19 pistol.

Perhaps the troublesome part would be the bullets, as nitrocellulose was entirely gone now, and he’d have to look for Xing Lingfeng.

The materials at hand couldn’t produce it, and while there was certainly an intense battle coming up, he believed that the crossbow carriage arrow would suffice.

After all, this wasn’t an open area; a crossbow carriage arrow on a straight path, its penetrating damage is almost unparalleled.

"Let’s see how to traverse the regional map." Lin Yue opened the system panel, and the Underground Ruins C Zone regional map immediately displayed on it.

He noticed even Zone F was displayed here- the blocked passage beside the Ice Lizard Cave was indeed connected to the entire hollow region between Zone F and Zone C.

Although it was indeed quite far, the size of the Ice Lizard Cave exceeded imagination.

This map not only fully charted both regions but also marked the areas he’d explored in the Ice Lizard Cave.

This made it convenient for him to review and search anytime.

However, Lin Yue noticed that the blocked passage seemed connected to another section, which in turn seemed linked to an unknown area.

Would the emergence of a new underground ruin open that area next time?

The blocked section looked about ten meters long on the map, impossible to dig through all at once, and Lin Yue wasn’t really interested.

What interested him was the other side.

The place he was going to now!

The map indicated that starting from here, ahead there would be a crossroads.

The crossroads led to three regions.

One led to a massive room, another led to a winding location, and the last one led to a strange area composed of innumerable corridors akin to a high-level maze.

The center of the mystifying area was still a gigantic room but slightly smaller than the first one.

The layout was something Lin Yue was very familiar with.

Isn’t it just like in Zone F?

One was between altars, one was between kitchens, and one was between leaders.

Comparing the entire maps of Zone F and C, Zone C was clearly much larger than Zone F.

Furthermore, three paths which he did not traverse before, two led to dead ends with large rooms, and the remaining one led to another uncharted area.

Lin Yue decided to start clearing from the altar area.

Regardless of whether there were Lizardmen, Lin Yue was very interested in what was there.

Are they making offerings to the Storm Flying Lizard or something else?

Lin Yue was eager to find out.

"Black Dot, Green Claw, Little Six, Red Line, you four focus on vigilance!"

Lin Yue checked all his equipment, then used a stone wall to block the wooden door.

Just in case, if surrounded, it wouldn’t be fun.

Storing the corpse of the Golden Poison Thorn Spider in the Storage Space, Lin Yue proceeded forward.

The spider venom wasn’t urgent to deal with; besides, these little spiders possibly had limited points of interest worth dissecting – Lin Yue thought he should research it thoroughly back at the Shelter.

"Squeak!" The Little Ice Lizards received new orders, scattering away; ahead, no Golden Poison Thorn Spider was encountered, Lin Yue holding an Alloy Explosion-Proof Shield and M19 Pistol, staying vigilant.

Even a slight oversight now would lead to unimaginable consequences.

Not long after, he reached the crossroads location according to the map and directly headed for the altar area.

The Little Ice Lizards remained quiet, collectively surveilling the surroundings according to his commands with dedication, knowing their importance.

The opponents had a power that could harm the little fierce ones; being cautious was their intelligent choice.

Soon, advancing all the way through the passage, Lin Yue saw the large door between altars again.

"Any enemies?" Lin Yue asked the Little Ice Lizards while looking at the much taller door compared to before.

"Squeak." The Little Ice Lizards signaled safety and climbed to the door’s edge.

Lin Yue took up the M19 Pistol and opened the door between altars.

A stench of blood immediately wafted from within, as he noticed the internal illumination seemed much brighter than outside, far brighter than Zone F’s prior setting!

The space between altars spread larger than before, and...

"What... wow, it’s actually this thing’s statue." Lin Yue looked up to the distance; the central altar remained a colossal disk shape, surrounded by several headless human bodies.

At the innermost depth between altars, the enormous statue revealed which "god" the Lizardmen were worshiping!

Poison Celestial Dragon!

The exceedingly long and massive multi-leg insect appearance, vivid and lifelike.

The closer Lin Yue got, he sensed the statue might split open and the entity within would suddenly leap out towards him.

Indeed, the Lizardmen had a knack for this.

Lin Yue reached the ten-meter long statue’s base, impressed.

He saw here numerous large jars, not fewer than those in Zone F before, likely more.

The contents inside were self-explanatory.

Bones, human bones.

Lin Yue gazed at the statue blending seamlessly with the stone wall, realizing that the Lizardmen held more than one "god" in esteem, besides the Storm Flying Lizard.

Perhaps the next altar area would feature something like the Strange Rat or Giant Spider.

Recalling the scene depicted in the mural, Lin Yue strengthened his premise.

Currently, these creatures ravaging Earth decades later, within the Secret Realm, are native to this Otherworld!

Their method made them be transported there, whilst humans arrived here in exchange.

Yet, why weren’t the Lizardmen transported over?

Is it because the Lizardmen wield intelligence, so they couldn’t be transported over? Or because they could jeopardize humanity, which thus resulted in the transport?

Lin Yue speculated various possibilities, yet found no evidence for any.

Ultimately, no one knew what the transmitting "medium" was.

"Perhaps it’s some higher dimensional creature."

He concluded with a rather outlandish perspective.

Returning to the altar’s central position, nine headless corpses encircled the spot.

Lin Yue gazed at the central area, finding a small box containing an odd stone.

He approached it, promptly using appraisal.

[Sapphire Ore]

Hm?

Sapphire?

Lin Yue raised an eyebrow, what was this setting? This dark blue semi-transparent stone as large as a fist was actually the gem?
