God of Destruction: Living Among Mortals
Chapter 105: The Lost Package: Part III
CHAPTER 105: THE LOST PACKAGE: PART III
The two weaker bandits attacked the duo, but both Nova ignored them, going straight in for the C-rank bandit, who had expected it. Just by glancing at Nova, he knew he would come for him. He senses that bloodlust emitting from Nova, that coldness that no scientist could even fathom.
The C-rank Adventurer was sweating slightly from his temple, knowing that Nova’s ego felt like an immeasurable infinity. Yet, it was so refined and precise, as if it weren’t really an ego, but something along the lines of ego, mimicking the true definition of ego.
Nova summoned a fresh pair of daggers, looking coldly at the C-rank bandit, as he went straight for the neck, not hesitating for a second. The C-rank bandit summoned a gust of wind to push him back in the air, then summoned another gust to hurl at Nova, which Nova carved right through, leaving the bandit slightly amused but more afraid.
The bandit slowly landed back on his feet, sweating from his temple, as Nova disappeared right in front of him. He looked everywhere, but he wasn’t able to track him anywhere. He was confused, scratching his head, thinking that Nova had escaped, but that didn’t seem in character for someone like Nova.
In the blink of a second, maybe like a hundred times faster, he appeared right in front of the bandit, grinning mischievously at him, before gutturally punching him right in the dead center of the solar plexus, with such accuracy that it sent shivers down the bandit’s spine.
The bandit hurled back, creating a strident shock burst in the aftermath. Nova lunged straight for the bandit, catching his head mid-flight, then thrashing it against the ground stridently, until the bandit stopped and his head was buried five feet underground.
"Why are you so weak for a C-rank?" Nova asked the bandit, who wasn’t even able to twitch a muscle. "What a fucking pathetic creature."
The bandit finally twitched a muscle, exploding a strong gust of wind against Nova’s chest, though it wasn’t very effective, as Nova landed on his feet, a couple of feet back. The bandit tried to get up, but his body failed him repeatedly.
Nova sighed, stepping towards the bandit, then grabbed the bandit’s thick head, and then slammed him against the ground, over and over again. Until the bandit’s head was bashed in, though he was still barely holding onto the thread of life.
Nova then dragged the bandit’s body by the foot, taking it towards Adam and Elesch, into the clearing.
The bandit suddenly uttered some words, his voice low, almost inaudible, breaking with each word: "How... are... you... so... strong...?"
"Because I meditate in my Ability Chamber every day, improving myself constantly, trying to get to the best version of this mortal body," Nova replied coldly, his voice piercing through the air with a sting.
"Ability... Chamber...?" the bandit inquired, confused by what he meant, which made Nova realize something. Something important.
"Do you not know what the Ability Chamber is?" Nova asked, stopping in his tracks, just before entering the clearing. He turned back to face the bandit, whose right eye was slightly open, blurring enough to suspect Nova.
The bandit tried to nod, which made Nova even more curious. He wondered if this "Ability Chamber" was accessible to a handful or if only guild members had access to it, or maybe even then, only a handful among guild members knew about it.
He stepped forward again with the bandit, as Adam finished clawing the D-rank bandit, cracking his neck, as Elesch entered the clearing with the kittens. She put a hand in front of the litter box, masking the kittens from seeing all the gore in front of them.
Elesch grabbed the package as Nova and Adam dragged the three remaining alive bandits back to the guild. Upon arriving, people were creeped out by the sight at hand, and so moved out of the trio’s way, who were bantering, as Nova cracked a joke.
They waited at the reception as Marcus came down, seeing the obnoxious way the trio had dealt with the bandits. Something that the average Adventurer wouldn’t do.
"Why the fuck..." Marcus paused, dumbfounded by the trio of nearly half-dead bandits having been dragged across the floor. "What the fuck?"
"Did you want us to dispose of the body or something?" Nova inquired, muttering low.
"No, I just didn’t think you would bash the fucking head of these bandits. I did not expect this." Marcus didn’t know what to do. He wasn’t exactly disappointed, yet not content either. He was stuck in the equilibrium of the two.
"Oh well," Nova started, shrugging his shoulders back. "I’ll take care of the bandits. You can have the package, but do tell us what was so important about this package that a C-rank bandit was out there looking for it."
"Sure, I’ll do it later. It’s basically nothing but some important, trivial documents, so we needed them, but they weren’t as important; that’s why it was a D-rank mission, but ya’know, you guys were more than prepared."
"Alright then, we’ll catch you later," Nova said, nodding his head, as the trio left the guild with the nearly half-dead bodies, hugging them from the back, as they went to throw them at the police station.
After they did that, Adam and Elesch took off, with Nova carrying the kittens back to the apartment. He met Talia along the way, and they chattered, but then Nova took off with the kittens, getting back home, feeding them and himself, then playing with them.
He played something on the TV, struggling to find something important first, but then found a decent channel on sports and saw mortals playing badminton. He grew interested, and with his laptop, learning how to command it over the last few months, we ordered two professional badminton rackets, waiting for their arrival in the next two days.
Then, he booked an appointment with a badminton coach to learn and improve at the game.
