CHAPTER 71: LIMIT PER LEVEL

After Dan left that night, Jessy reintroduced herself to Louis in her new outfit.

When Louis saw her, he was speechless.

’Sorry, Uncle. I thought it was you, but now I see this girl has a peculiar taste in clothes.’ Louis put his hand to his forehead helplessly and took a deep breath.

The kind of clothes Jessy was wearing were just like the maids in the fantasy novels he read in his days on Earth. A wide dress down below, white with black. No frills.

He was forced to smile. "I’ll take you shopping for clothes later. For now, take care of things at the mansion. You’ll sleep here. You can pick any room you want. They’re all ready for sleeping." He got up.

"Are you going to take a bath, Lord Louis? The bath is ready."

"I’ll come up, call me when dinner is ready."

"What do you want for dinner?"

"Surprise me. You told me you could do that very well." Louis smiled sidelong at her and then went up to his room.

There were things he needed to do. It would only give him time for just one, though: raise his stats.

He opened his status window.

[Louis Lockward’s Status Window]

| Race: Human son of God [Level 12]

| Class: God of Money [SSS]

| Occupation: Armamentalist [First Sequence: Armsman Novice, Rank E]

-

[Stats]

HP: 1540/1540.

Mana: 272/272.

| Strength: 80.

| Vitality: 77.

| Agility: 50.

| Intelligence: 80.

| Perception (Innate): 111.

[78 Stats Point Available. 75 Free Points. 3 Agility Points.]

Thanks to his frequent shooting lately and the night in Velfast he had to run at full speed at all times, his skills had increased in level.

The main one was now level 5. While the secondary one is level 4.

The first thing he did was raise his agility to 53 to eliminate the three points that could only be used there.

Then, without hesitation, he raised his Intelligence to 100...

| Intelligence: 100. [Limit per Level Reached]

’Huh?’

Louis couldn’t help but click on the new button that had appeared on the system.

If there were a limit to the number of stats he could have per level, it would be rather unfortunate for him, as his system allows him to gain a lot of stat points, which are not considered in his levels.

A detailed explanation revealed itself to him.

[Limit per Level]

| Because your level is too low, the number of stats you can have has been limited.

It is a temporary and one-time limit (whenever you are below level 25 and have 100 stat points, it appears).

Once you reach Level 25, there is no limit to how many stats you can have.

[Reach Level 25 to continue improving. Stat Points will be accumulated and awarded once when you reach this level.]

Louis let out a long sigh and smiled. ’Good thing it’s only temporary and then there’s no more.’

Anyway, he was already thinking about leveling up. In fact, it was his mission from now on. He could practically gain five stat points per level, and he would also gain the mission stat bonus.

Knowing that, he needed to level up.

After raising his Intelligence, Louis also raised his strength to 100 points.

That left him with 35 points. Naturally, he also increased his vitality to 100, spending 23 stat points and being left with 12 points.

’Hm?’ Louis found something curious.

Perception, despite being above 100, could be raised.

’Is it because I was born with that number naturally?’ he thought.

At this point, he could indeed consider raising Perception. Maybe it could do him some good, but his agility was still low, so he spent all his points, the remaining 12, on raising agility to the maximum.

His stats were pretty even.

[Stats]

HP: 2,000/2,000.

Mana: 340/340.

| Strength: 100. [Limit per Level Reached]

| Vitality: 100. [Limit per Level Reached]

| Agility: 65.

| Intelligence: 100. [Limit per Level Reached]

| Perception (Innate): 111.

[0 Stats Point Available.]

The increase in stats was something that was felt physically. His body seemed to increase in bone density, but he had gotten so strong that his strength gave him a sense of grandeur.

His muscles toned, and he even lost a certain percentage of fat, although it wasn’t too much, just the excess.

This increase in stats made him much more attractive physically, and even his hair seemed to glow with a strange, curious intensity.

He went to bathe and a while later, went downstairs to eat with Jessy. Afterwards, he went to sleep.

-

The next morning, he got up early to get to the Academy early. He had many questions to ask Hardrial.

Laura arrived early that day.

"You jumped out of bed and fell in here?" joked Laura as she walked into the classroom and saw Louis already waiting for them.

"Haha, I missed yesterday, so I must make it up. I was reviewing some stuff from last class and wanted to ask the professor some questions. Didn’t he come with you?"

She shook her head. "These days, he seems to be busy with various subjects." She smiled and sat down next to him. "What are you doing?"

"Studying basic fabrics and magics." He replied, holding a peculiar book in his hand, the grimoire.

Laura looked at it, slightly stunned. She even read the name of the "book" and then some of the content he was reading.

She hadn’t understood a thing.

But three minutes later, she shot to her feet. "A grimoire!?" she shouted, but quickly realized her mistake and put her hands to her mouth, returning to her seat.

"Where did you get a grimoire?" she asked, in shock.

"Hm?" Louis looked at her, slightly confused. "I bought it. I needed to learn these magics, and it’s helped me a lot," he replied casually.

"Y-You bought it? A grimoire?"

"Yes. Why?"

"G-G-God... What are you? The God of Wealth? The Owner of Money? A walking bank?" She asked in shock.

Louis cocked his head to look at her. She had hit the nail on the head on all the titles that could be bestowed upon him.

"Yes." He smiled, being totally sincere.

Though she took it as a joke, but Louis found her reaction odd.

"Why are you so surprised by that? It’s just a basic grimoire." He replied and showed it to her. He even allowed her to leaf through it.

With every leaf he turned, the more stunned she became.

"You... this is a High-Level Grimoire. Very high level! It had to have cost a fortune! Did you really buy it?"

Finally, Louis understood what the fuss was about.

"How much do grimoires cost here? I’ve seen some in town, they’re cheap."

She averted her gaze from the grimoire to him. "In town? You mean those knockoffs? What’s so cheap about them? Despite not being real, the cheapest ones cost tens of millions of Jens. The normal thing is that they cost several hundred or even billions. Do you know how much a Genuine Grimoire is worth? At least 10 billion!" She exclaimed.

"10 billion at the very least!" She stressed once more. But she wasn’t finished. "This one should cost a lot more than that..."
