God of Pets
Chapter 49: Something’s Off
CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 49: SOMETHING’S OFF
"Chen Guan, how about I trade two Unparalleled Pets for your Great Black Celestial Demon God Statue?" Qin Ziyu said to Chen Guan.
If it were any other time, Chen Guan would naturally not want to refuse Qin Ziyu’s face, especially since trading one for two, he would be at an advantage, leaving no reason to decline.
However, the situation with this Great Black Celestial Demon God Statue clearly had issues, and Wang Lian’s insistence on it, instead of searching for the remaining "Efang Sutra," prompted Chen Guan to have some suspicions.
"Ziyu, even if I wanted to trade with you, do you even have Unparalleled Pets on you right now?" Chen Guan did not directly refuse.
"Once we leave the Secret Realm, I will apply to my family, ensuring you get what you deserve." Qin Ziyu responded.
"Alright, then let’s wait until we are out of the Secret Realm and trade outside, paying and delivering at the same time." Although Chen Guan didn’t know exactly what transpired between Qin Ziyu and Wang Lian, he could see that Qin Ziyu was pressured by Wang Lian, so he preferred not to confront Qin Ziyu directly and decided to delay matters for now.
"No, you must hand it over immediately." Wang Lian interjected, her tone was resolute.
Qin Ziyu was momentarily conflicted, slightly furrowing his brows, as he looked at Wang Lian and said, "Since Chen Guan would trade it outside, naturally, he would not go back on his word, and I can vouch for him. If he doesn’t keep his promise, I will retrieve the Great Black Celestial Demon God Statue for you."
"The item was originally snatched from us by him, why should I trade with him? Qin Ziyu, I only want the Great Black Celestial Demon God Statue; if you help me retrieve it, our grievances will be settled, and we owe each other nothing." Wang Lian stated.
Qin Ziyu pondered for a moment, then once more looked at Chen Guan, "If you trust me, give me the Great Black Celestial Demon God Statue first, and once outside, I will ensure you receive two Unparalleled Pets within three days."
"Why are you listening to her? Have you forgotten that she almost got us killed before?" Chen Guan didn’t want to head straight into a confrontation with Qin Ziyu, so he tried to divert the conversation elsewhere.
"I haven’t forgotten, but she saved my life in the Corpse Rot Forest, and this debt I have to repay." Qin Ziyu stated earnestly.
Hearing this from him, Chen Guan realized that the situation could not be resolved peacefully today.
"Why waste words with him? Taking away what we struggled to achieve; someone like him deserves to die. Capture him first." Wang Lian coldly asserted from the side.
"Ji Nanhong, lend me a hand, you’ll be greatly rewarded later." Chen Guan no longer talked with Qin Ziyu, instead, he turned to Ji Nanhong and then suddenly launched himself toward Wang Lian.
The Ardent Rabbit’s injury hadn’t fully recovered, especially its legs which suffered a tremendous impact and couldn’t move properly, so Chen Guan had to step forward himself.
His plan was simple; since Wang Lian is Qin Ziyu’s creditor and he can’t deal with Qin Ziyu, then solving the problem with the creditor would do.
As Qin Ziyu tried to intercept Chen Guan, he was blocked by a swiftly swinging Nineteen-Section Whip.
"I’ve long heard of King of Qin’s Purple and Cyan Qi Profound Skill, and it is my honor today to witness it firsthand," Ji Nanhong blocked Qin Ziyu’s path, preventing him from interfering with Chen Guan.
"Move aside." Qin Ziyu gripped his longsword, speaking coldly.
Ji Nanhong smiled silently, with no intention of stepping aside.
With no words, Qin Ziyu drew his sword to thrust, and Ji Nanhong’s Nineteen-Section Whip immediately swung to meet the attack.
Ji Nanhong’s strength was not inferior to Qin Ziyu’s, and even with the blessings of Unparalleled Secret Skill and Secret Treasure, Qin Ziyu couldn’t easily handle Ji Nanhong.
Ji Nanhong didn’t engage in a fight to the death with him, but merely tangled him in combat, preventing him from interfering with Chen Guan.
Wang Lian was initially a bit frightened, but upon realizing the Ardent Rabbit didn’t charge forward, she quickly understood something was off. After observing, she soon noticed the Ardent Rabbit’s legs were problematic and felt relieved.
"Chen Guan, do you really think you can control me? Without that rabbit, you’re nothing. Bring out your mutt, I’ll show you Wang Lian’s real ability today." Wang Lian was deeply resentful toward Chen Guan.
Previously, she had been humiliated by Chen Guan and subdued by a guard dog, marking the most disgraceful moment of her life.
Wang Lian assumed that her dire situation back then was due to severe injuries and the absence of her Flying Saber and Cow Hair Needle.
Her current state was very good, and her level increased after killing other World-Defying Secret Spirits, now reaching level 7. Taking care of Chen Guan and his mutt shouldn’t be difficult.
She was just about to launch her Flying Saber and Flying Needle at Chen Guan when she suddenly saw him summoning two Mutated Corpses.
These two Mutated Corpse Pets were the rare quality level 7 Secret Spirit Pets transferred to Chen Guan by Qin Ziyu during their fight in the Corpse Rot Forest.
Although not considered formidable pets, they possessed a certain degree of combat power and had the unique skill Great Hand Seal.
Unlike Chen Guan’s Blood Hand Seal Secret Skill, their Great Hand Seal was a Rare Secret Skill, more commonly seen.
Petification itself is divided into two types, Rebirth-type Petification and Resurrection-type Petification.
In Rebirth-type Petification, the Secret Spirit returns to level 1 after petifying, like the Great Black Celestial Demon God Statue, requiring level enhancement anew.
In Resurrection-type Petification, the Secret Spirit retains its original level and abilities as a pet, ready for use immediately.
There is a fundamental difference between the two: pets from Rebirth Petification usually hold greater potential, allowing for further level advancement, even leading to a Second Awakening.
Resurrection-type Petified pets generally have lower potential, although their levels can still increase with difficulty, and achieving a Second Awakening is extremely rare, with nine out of ten such pets unlikely to awaken further.
The two Mutated Corpses were unlikely to achieve a Second Awakening, useful up to level 10 before becoming essentially stagnant, at best serving as cannon fodder.
"You think you can challenge me with two Mutated Corpses?" Wang Lian regarded the Mutated Corpses with indifference.
In the midst of the Corpse Rot Forest, she could roam freely, and two Mutated Corpses were insignificant; she had extremely potent countermeasures against Corpse creatures.
"These aren’t ordinary Mutated Corpses, they could become premium Corpse Kings among Corpses, possessing top-level potential and abilities..." Chen Guan activated the Spirit of the Cheerleaders, lavishly praising the Mutated Corpses.
He didn’t really expect them to take down Wang Lian, given her ability to emerge unscathed from the Corpse Rot Forest.
Chen Guan merely intended to let them expend Wang Lian’s Flying Saber and Cow Hair Needle, ideally forcing her to reveal some of her hidden cards, to learn what precisely enabled her to escape the Corpse Rot Forest unscathed.
The moment Chen Guan finished speaking, he suddenly noticed something strange with the two Mutated Corpses.
