CHAPTER 33: THE FINAL PUZZLE PIECE COMPLETE
With that thought, Ren immediately pulled out his Magic Net, but before he could even open it, the magic power around him started twisting again. Betty, who had just vanished moments ago, reappeared: "Almost forgot to mention something—the Goddess told me to remind you that since you already have fanatics, you should start thinking about whether to establish a faith system or church structure. This is crucial for your development."
"A faith system? Got it."
Ren nodded slightly, his mind racing through the possibilities, but soon shook his head: "Not necessary. Take this whole thing with the magic bombs—just using them naturally got a bunch of people to start believing in me. As more Magic Conductors come out in the future, everything will just fall into place naturally. Having a church structure would actually slow things down..."
After muttering this to himself, he decided not to worry about it anymore and stick to the original plan.
Having made his decision, he immediately pulled out his Magic Net, planning to search for that information he’d seen before!
As he kept scrolling, Ren quickly found a user in Magic Space called ’Wandering Wild Mage.’
This user had once posted: "Magic power is basically everywhere, so why can magic arrays only get their power from magicians injecting it instead of auto-charging? After extensive research, I’ve discovered that certain rune combinations can actually achieve self-charging magic power, but since free-floating magic power is pretty thin everywhere except magical anomaly zones, self-charging rune arrays either absorb very little power or need huge areas..."
Unfortunately, despite the long explanation and partial theory breakdown, all he got back was endless mockery. Even in this Magic Space, hardly anyone could accept what he was saying. Even those who could mostly just made fun of him for being delusional or claimed such arrays had no practical value.
A self-charging array that takes up 90% of a magic array’s area just to barely power a low-level magic array, with actual effectiveness not even matching a random overflow from magical anomaly zones—in any magician’s eyes, this was worthless.
But Ren couldn’t help raising an eyebrow: "Huh—I knew it! I remember someone online saying they’d mastered this kind of technology, just wasn’t sure if it was real..."
Low efficiency wasn’t scary—worst case, just scale it up. If quality doesn’t work, make up for it with quantity. As long as it could inject magic power into storage runes, that counted as success. Better than having apprentices or low-level mages spend several days just to fill one up, right?
Plus, this was just the beginning.
Even Betty didn’t know about this, meaning it was completely new technology. It’s understandable that newly invented tech might be a bit rough around the edges.
With this thought, Ren immediately called out to the air: "Betty, come here! Big news!"
"What? What’s going on?! Lord Ren, what do you need help with? Not everything requires Betty’s..."
The book had been released by Betty at some point, and hearing Ren’s call, instantly appeared beside him.
"Perfect timing. Help me look up a user called ’Wandering Wild Mage,’ then see what he’s said about self-charging arrays and organize any useful info for me." After thinking briefly, Ren gave the book his orders.
"Self-charging arrays?!"
Betty seemed like she hadn’t wanted to pay attention to Ren, but hearing about self-charging arrays, she instantly appeared in the room, her eyes full of confusion and surprise: "Someone in the mortal realm has developed arrays that can auto-charge?!"
"Let’s wait for the book to compile the info first. Looks pretty legit to me, though the guy seems like he hasn’t perfected the technology yet—still has quite a few issues." Ren nodded slightly, handing his Magic Net to Betty so she could see the info he’d just found.
"This ’Wandering Wild Mage’ and ’Magician’s Apprentice’ discussed a lot about this in their private chats. Should be able to piece together the complete technical results."
The book, living up to his role as a ’server,’ quickly compiled all the information and presented a complete technical proposal to both of them.
"Looks like it’s all basic runes, and the arrangement combinations are basic too. Man, this is incredible innovation... I can guarantee this magic array can automatically absorb free-floating magic power, and even... amplify it!"
"Amplify?" Ren was puzzled.
"Right, amplify. More precisely, it can use the gathered magic power to strengthen the magic array, thus absorbing even more magic power. Though it’s nowhere near magical anomaly zones, it can definitely gather free-floating magic power and could totally charge our storage runes."
Betty grew more amazed the more she looked: "The key thing is, this is just a prototype. If I were to enhance it, it wouldn’t take long before I could create a magic array with a hundred times stronger magic-gathering effect. That way, it could totally match up to regular magical anomaly zones."
"Most importantly, this magic array can directly transmit magic power to specific locations without needing magicians as middlemen. Seems like... it really fits the charging needs of Magic Conductors!"
The ray gun incident had already given her a whole new perspective on Magic Conductors, but just like Ren thought, charging was the biggest limitation preventing their rapid development, since they required tons of magicians for charging.
Everyone’s energy is limited.
Even if Magic Conductors were dirt cheap, the charging process alone would make them expensive.
But with a magic array like this helping out, charging difficulty would drop dramatically. You could basically just set it up and wait...
"You can enhance it?" Ren was somewhat surprised.
"Of course. This wild mage’s level doesn’t seem very high—the runes he knows are pretty basic. Following his approach but swapping in enhanced versions would naturally make it stronger." Betty nodded confidently: "Though his design has flaws—major ones."
"What kind?"
"His magic power conduction runes aren’t arranged properly. He’s gathering magic power in the center of the array but can’t use it effectively, and quite a bit of power gets wasted. I can tell he wants to improve this, but following his improvement plan, there’s only one result..."
"What result? Stop being mysterious."
Seeing Betty suddenly stop talking, Ren shot her a look.
"Explosion! A really serious explosion. If any nearby magicians are below high-level, even if they don’t die, they’ll be severely injured." Betty’s expression grew serious: "Conoscenza, is this person one of the Goddess’s believers? We should warn him. Really can’t imagine a mortal achieving something like this."
"People get pushed to their limits, don’t they?" Ren smiled and shook his head: "Based on what we know now, this guy isn’t doing too well. He needs tons of magic power, so he has to make choices like this. Any magician with power and influence probably wouldn’t consider this kind of problem even in old age."
"Anyway, I think his existence just completed the final puzzle piece for our Magic Conductors!"
