God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World
Chapter 78: Deep Web
CHAPTER 78: DEEP WEB
The Fallen Ones?
Mirror of Depravity?
Pulling people into a so-called real illusion where the illusion could be freely woven, and all bodily functions could operate normally in that environment?
Ren couldn’t help but show an interested expression. It seemed somewhat similar to his virtual world. His virtual divine realm had all these characteristics... Actually, this might really be where that missing part of his Data Craftsman authority went!
Thinking of this, he quickly pulled out his Magic Net and started searching. He hadn’t expected that such a surprise would come right after the new feature was released...
The more online information Ren looked at, the more likely he thought it was. He simply directly invoked the Data Craftsman authority and, following the network cable, projected the scene around Wrathwind... This was through spying via the Magic Net ring, so the range was very limited. But even so, it still left the Goddess of Magic dumbfounded.
Wrathwind wasn’t a believer of either of them. According to the rules, they couldn’t spy on him at all. The same went for other deities. But Ren could view him so easily.
A legendary druid was worthy of being a legendary druid. Perhaps he didn’t have the ability to sense the presence of a deity, but he could feel someone gazing at him. A sense of being spied upon struck him. His expression immediately changed drastically as he tried to flee the City of Gold castellan’s manor.
But before he could make a move, Ren had already invoked divine power to completely "imprison" this divine aura, preventing Wrathwind from sensing the slightest bit. He observed for a good while before finally calming down somewhat and couldn’t help sighing. "The Fallen Ones really have me jumping at shadows!"
He seemed to think he’d just had an illusion.
Betty watched Master Wrathwind’s performance on screen with interest and almost couldn’t help laughing. She’d already seen that this was the strongest druid under the God of Nature, the second most important figure among the God of Nature’s believers. But such a figure, because of a suddenly appearing gaze, behaved like this... It was truly amusing!
Ren’s voice suddenly rang out. "I can sense that here, there really are fragments of a data world beyond my control."
"Huh?! There really are?!" Betty was somewhat surprised.
Those Fallen Ones had actually developed a "digital world" outside the Magic Net. How did they achieve the connection?!
The core of the Magic Net was the planet’s own magic core, plus the authority to transmit information via magic power. Obviously, besides them, no one else could possibly possess this authority. But without magic power transmitting information, how did they do it?
If it were any other church, they could consider divine authority. But the Fallen Ones—the God of Wine they used to believe in had fallen many years ago, and now they were extreme non-believers. All three great dark factions in the mortal realm were like this. They even wanted to create gods or kill gods.
How did such a group of lunatics master technology similar to the Magic Net? How did they build it up? How exactly did they achieve it? How did they transmit information?! How did they coordinate and manage the network?
Question after question instantly appeared in Betty’s mind, but she used a teasing tone to say, "Don’t tell me you want to go to the mortal realm for a vacation and are just pretending there’s a network there?"
"What do you think?" Ren glared at her with annoyance. "Though I don’t know how they achieved it, I have a premonition that if we take it down, our Magic Net will definitely advance further. It might even improve my Data Craftsman authority."
"You’re really planning to go to the mortal realm?!" Betty looked at Ren with some surprise. She’d just been joking earlier, but she hadn’t expected to get this answer. "Though you possess certain authority, you’re not necessarily a match for legendary-level mortals. What’s more, just now a legendary was sucked into that Mirror of Depravity."
"Are you worried about a deity being attacked by mortals?" Ren looked at Betty with a half-smile.
"But you’re just a newborn deity. You haven’t even mastered many authorities. We also can’t confirm whether you’ll still be able to mobilize faith power after going to the mortal realm."
"Even if I can’t mobilize faith power, I have nothing to fear. Don’t forget, I can travel between reality and illusion."
"That Wrathwind just said he seemed to have been pulled into an illusory world." Betty bluntly stated this, seeming very worried that Ren would have an accident going to the mortal realm.
"It’s precisely because it’s an illusory world that I need to go. Data world fragments—how interesting indeed. I wonder how much my Data Craftsman authority will improve after I recover them... Maybe I can even find some remnants left by the God of Wine from the Fallen Ones."
"Go talk to the Goddess yourself. I’m just a small servant. I can’t decide anything. Just don’t get locked outside and unable to come back." After a brief silence, Betty snorted lightly and stopped talking.
Returning to the Magic Tower and arriving at the laboratory, after hearing Ren’s description, the Goddess nodded slightly and tossed over a ring. "It might be of some help. This ring can automatically release a shield. Even if ten legendary magicians from the mortal realm drain themselves and cast forbidden magic, it can withstand it. It can resist three times at most and recovers one charge per day."
"Does this count as a love token?" Ren was slightly stunned. He put on the ring and said with a smile, "Don’t worry, there won’t be any problems. I’m just going to strengthen my authority."
"Mm, be careful." The Goddess of Magic nodded slightly and said no more.
After simple preparations, just as Ren was about to set off, he found that somehow Betty had already come to his side. "What is it? Is there something else?"
"The Goddess told me to go with you." Betty said, "You should be able to bring items through your travels too, right?"
"...Should be possible." Ren was somewhat speechless. "Even if you were human, I could bring you through."
Data Craftsman activated. The Magic Net ring before them suddenly emitted a ray of light, powerful enough to directly envelop both Ren and Betty. This was something the Magic Net ring could never possibly do. Before Betty could be surprised, their bodies actually began transforming into black and white light particles. These light particles arranged themselves in complex patterns. Gradually, their bodies completely disappeared, and those light particles, like a waterfall, rushed directly into the Magic Net ring.
The Goddess of Magic in the distance watched this scene, deep astonishment passing through her eyes. She hadn’t expected that Data Craftsman’s transmission would take such a form—as if transforming oneself into data itself. They’d probably condense back out at the other end in the same way...
"How truly marvelous. This world really does have many secrets even I don’t know about!"
