CHAPTER 129: SIR BROKEN VS. THE LAKE KING [2]

Back in the studio, Doodle had a very anxious look on his face and was constantly biting his thumb. His leg bounced nonstop under the desk.

Noel remained calm on the outside; however, even she could feel the tension in the air.

In all her years of being a video game commentator, it was the first time she felt this tense—and for a character that wasn’t even real.

Although the White Flame Guild, a few members of the Holy Church, and some players from Crimson Star were rushing to the location, most didn’t believe he could hold on for that long.

As for the likes of Martial Palace and Olympus Guild, they had chosen not to hunt the boss monster.

This wasn’t because they didn’t want to increase their points, but simply because they were thinking ahead.

If a dozen guilds threw themselves at the boss, they’d all waste time and resources. Olympus and Martial Palace wanted none of that.

Rather than participating, they could use the distraction the boss brought to farm more points. Even before the boss was defeated, they would have already amassed far more than the 80-point reward.

This was one of the reasons key figures like Scarlett and Alfonzo of the Holy Church didn’t make a move either.

On the battlefield...

Bunny wasn’t convinced that Gabriel was fine.

However, with how serious he appeared at that moment, she doubted any persuasion would work.

After seeing that a human had survived even that attack, the Lake Serpent King no longer hesitated.

Its mouth opened wide, and dozens of glowing blue orbs formed inside its gullet.

Gabriel’s hair stood on end, and he felt his skull tingle.

"Everyone get back—!" he screamed.

But it was too late.

[Thousand Fang Barrage!]

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Hundreds of fang-shaped projectiles exploded across the battlefield, tearing through and destroying the terrain. Craters formed and dust rose into the air!

Each impact was like a cannonball blast!

Even from a distance, Bunny and the others had to shield their faces from the shockwaves.

When the barrage finally ended, the terrain was unrecognizable. Deep craters could be seen all over the ground, with dust slowly rising.

The viewers stared wide-eyed, unable to hear anything—until they heard coughing from the smoke.

’I guess investing in the Agility stat wasn’t so bad.’ he said, stepping out of the dust.

"He... he dodged all that?!" Bunny’s eyes shrank!

[HE’S ALIVE!?!?!?!]

[Bro walked through HELL and came out CLEAN]

[I blinked and thought he died LMAO]

"Phew!" Doodle—and all Gabriel’s fans across the world—let out a collective sigh of relief.

---

Meanwhile...

With a cold glare in his eyes, Gabriel charged toward the monster once again.

’If I use Blood Rush, it might give me an edge... but I can’t keep relying on this always.’

’Besides, it would leave me significantly weaker. I can’t afford to take that gamble out here in the wilderness.’

Gabriel stomped the ground, propelling himself skyward. Mid-air, he slashed at the serpent’s body with all his might.

"Let’s see how thick that hide really is!"

BOOM!

A chunk of the beast’s scale flew off, and Crimson Judgement sank deep inside the wound.

-10,000

Gabriel quickly followed with another strike again!

-15,009

Just as he was about to follow up with the third strike, the boss monster twisted its serpent head and lunged at Gabriel.

Clicking his tongue, Gabriel jumped off the beast’s body and landed on the ground. He slid back several meters, dragging trenches in the dirt.

Enraged by its injuries, the massive serpent lunged forward, jaws open.

"Burrow Shift, Vicious Pounce!"

The attack was so sudden and unexpected that he was forced to use two of his skills in quick succession.

Bunny’s lips were pressed into a tight frown as she observed the ongoing fight.

’That was close!’ she thought inwardly.

Shing! Shing! Shing!

Like a savage, Gabriel hacked away at the monster’s body.

-5,900

-4,599

20,000 (Fatal Hit!)

Seeing the massive damage numbers, the chat practically exploded.

[OH MY GOD!]

[HE’S ACTUALLY HURTING IT!]

[Don’t get your hopes up. A level 95 boss has thousands of health points—that damage is minimal!]

---

Back in the viewing center, the commentator had a look of disbelief across her face.

The audience, who had expected Gabriel not to last even five minutes against the Serpent King, were shocked—mouths falling open.

"Who is he?!"

"First it was the crocs, and now this! It’s the first time I’m seeing this person!"

Gabriel was only famous among players. This was the second time viewers in the Valerian Kingdom were really noticing him.

"Could he be a hidden prodigy the Adventurer Guild has been nurturing?"

---

"Hahahaha! I was the one that forged that weapon!"

Suddenly, boisterous laughter attracted everyone’s attention. When they glanced over, they saw Korran, the famous blacksmith of Stellar City.

"Really? You forged that blade?"

"Of course!" Korran pumped his chest proudly. "Who else do you think is capable of crafting a weapon of that caliber?"

While Korran was basking in the praises of the city, somewhere not too far away, Damian Graves watched Gabriel—a complicated gleam flashing across his eyes.

Damian knew that if he wanted to rise and surpass even his own family, he didn’t just need wealth—but powerful adventurers as allies as well.

Fortunately for him, it seemed he already had one.

"Now we just hope he survives this," he mumbled to himself.

---

The fight grew more intense. The serpent became more desperate, and Gabriel grew weaker. He was now losing health by the second.

"Jelly!" he called out, and the blue baby slime appeared.

The slime didn’t need to be told what to do. It instantly spat a ball of slime at Gabriel, and his health returned back to 100%.

Feeling energized, a smirk appeared on his face as he suddenly had an idea.

An idea that might just help him win this fight!
