Once everything was settled, Marion walked back to the living room and lifted

    Debra off the sofa.

For over a month now, Debra hadn''t needed to walk on her own.

"If you keep pampering me like this, my legs will be useless."

"It''s fine. I''ll carry you for the rest of your life."

He was confident in his strength. Even when he was old, he believed he could still

lift weights without breaking a sweat.

Debra was light. He had no trouble lifting her at all.

The bedroom was dimly lit. Marion gentlyid her down on the bed andy beside

    her.

Debra smiled, "You''re always watching me sleep. This time, let me watch you."

"Okay," Marion agreed, cing her hand over his chest.

Soon, Debra heard his steady breathing.

Marion was a light sleeper. The slightest movement would wake him.

Debra stayed still, quietly watching his sculpted face, straight nose, plump lips,

sexy Adam''s apple, and well-defined corbone.

Suddenly, he murmured, "How am I supposed to sleep with you staring at me like

    that?"

Debra felt awkward, stammering, "I''m not sleepy yet. Okay. I won''t watch you."

The blush on her cheeks didn''t escape his eyes. His grip on her hand tightened.

"William said your injury is almost healed," he said casually.

    Debra protested weakly, "Not yet."

"Didn''t you skip the medication this morning?"

    "Oh."

    "I''ll get your medicine box."

Marion got up and went to fetch the medical kit. Debra leaned back on the bed,

recalling how he had changed her bandages for the past month.

Thanks to his careful attention, the

    wound healed much faster than

    expected. What would normally take

two months to heal was almost fully

    healed in just one month.

Soon, he returned with the medicine

box. He opened it and took out the

    medicine William had prepared. As

he unwound the bandages from her

    shoulder, the still-healing wound

looked a little gruesome against her

    pale skin.

Debra sighed, "I''ll never look good in a dress again."

Marion reassured her, "Once it heals

more, I''ll find you the best doctor to

get rid of the scars. You''ll be able to

    wear pretty dresses again."

"It''s too deep to heal properly. If I get ugly, you won''t love me anymore."

Marion paused, taking her joke seriously. He leaned over, softly kissing the

    wounded spot on her shoulder.

"I love you," he murmured. "Whether you''re beautiful or ugly, young or old, and

healthy or sick, I will always love you."
