Michael held an umbre, shielding Debra from the wind and snow.

    Once they got in the car, Debra leaned against the window, not saying a word. Inside the house, Marion sat on the couch, silent.

    Randy and Erica had been trying to reach him nonstop, but he ignored every call. As evening approached, Erica booted open the door and stormed into the house. "You jerk!" She swung a punch at his face. "Why weren''t you answering our calls? What''s going on? Randy and I came all the way from Seamar City. Don''t tell us you don''t know."

    "Erica, calm down," Randy tried to soothe her.

    "Calm down?" Erica red at him. "You knew about his condition, didn''t you?"

    "I thought he was fine," Randy muttered weakly.

    Erica turned back to Marion. "Although I''m not part of the Houston family, I am still your cousin. Why didn''t you tell everyone? You could keep it from me, but why hide it from Debra? Weren''t you aware of the consequences? Now that it''s exposed, not only will thepany have problems, but even your rtionship with her..."

    "She''s already gone." Marion opened his hand, revealing the ring that had cut into his palm. "She left with Michael."

    Erica fell silent. Although she had only known Debra for a short time, she understood that Debra had always been cautious with emotions.

    Marion''s actions were no different from betrayal.

    No wives could ept having husbands who had no real emotional connection to them.

    "I''ll go find her."

    "No. Don''t disturb her."

    "Are you crazy? She has already left, and you''re not even trying to fix things. What are you thinking?"

    Erica knew what women needed in these situations. Exnations!

    Debra wasn''t an unreasonable person. If Marion had just been honest and

    cleared the air, she would havee around eventually.

    "Would you ept a man who has no emotions but keeps saying he loves you?"

    "In the medical field, it''s already been confirmed that I can''t love. So, my love for her was nothing but a lie."

    Marionughed bitterly. From the start, he knew the consequences of hiding the truth, but he still clung to a glimmer of hope.

    Now that the truth hade out, their marriage was done for.

    "Don''t be too pessimistic," Randy said. "Debra is not just any ordinary woman. Maybe she will soone to terms with it."

    Marion stood up. "Lying is lying. She gave me so many chances, but I messed

    up."
