CHAPTER 100: CHAPTER 100

Zeus, at times, was referred to as Little Yahweh.

Of course, calling Yahweh "Little Zeus" wouldn’t be wrong either, after all, he basically inherited Zeus’s legacy.

The Aegean civilization, or rather, the Greek pantheon, was a mythos built on constant expansion and assimilation.

Through the continual absorption of other worlds, they defeated and fused the creator gods of those lands into their own framework, growing their divine dominion ever wider.

That was how Oceanus fell, how Eurynome was taken, and how the Near Eastern Cybele became one with them.

Thanks to the spread of Greek culture, and its excellent successor, Rome, Zeus could now envision even more possibilities.

She battled Baal in the clouds over Canaan, devouring him and taking his power for her own.

She transformed into a white bull, carrying a beautiful maiden to another land.

She blessed the horned king, whose legion would cross rivers and conquer the world of Aegyptus, bestowing upon her the name [Zeus-Amun].

Later, she descended into the wild land of Etruria, took the name Jupiter, and built the great city of Rome upon its seven hills.

In that era, Zeus’s divine authority would reach its peak.

From the source of the Nile to the edge of Europa, her name as the All-Father God would be sung for generations.

Of course, she could also foresee another possible outcome.

A vast Roman Empire falling into chaos, everything she built becoming a bridal dress for another.

Someone would inherit her legacy, devour what was rightfully hers, and ascend to supreme power.

But that was merely one among countless possibilities.

Just as now, with Zeus intending to conquer Aegyptus, she would never naively wait for the horned king she foresaw to appear.

Fate only binds the weak. Zeus seizes destiny with her own hands.

"Eros, you must not tell anyone, god or mortal, about Io."

Zeus spoke gravely to Eros.

"Only if Hera hates her, if she’s unable to survive in this world, can she be seamlessly accepted by the world of Aegyptus."

Eros had roughly pieced together her plan.

Let Hera grow jealous and torment Io, but preserve her life, then quietly send her off to the banks of the Nile.

There, Io would become Isis, the goddess of Aegyptus. And the final piece Zeus left behind, her child with Io, would become her seed in that land.

That child, in the future, would defeat the god Set and ascend as Horus, king of ancient Egypt.

Thinking about it, no wonder Zeus chose to turn Io into a cow, after all, cows were sacred to both Zeus and Hera.

Recalling the myths of Zeus, only Io and Europa had tales tied to bulls.

One helped her conquer Egypt, the other helped spread the seeds of civilization, their positions were far above Zeus’s other lovers.

As for Egypt’s presence in Greek myths, Eros wasn’t the least bit surprised.

Egypt was frequently mentioned in many Greek legends. There was nothing odd about it at all.

What surprised Eros wasn’t that, what surprised him was how much Zeus had actually thought through.

He always thought she was like the legends, her mind filled with nothing but beautiful goddesses.

Turns out it was all misunderstanding and prejudice. She truly deserved the title of King of the Gods.

Well, of course, if Zeus were really just a lecherous Dumas-type character, she could never have become the All-Father.

She really did have substance, far beyond a mere pervert.

"So, you want me to look after Io closely, and if necessary, even take over her body to carry out your plans?"

Just from Hera nearly killing Io last time, it was clear, not even Zeus could guarantee that reality would follow her script.

"Mm. You’re the only one I can entrust with this."

This time, Zeus didn’t wear a pitiful, pleading look like before. She spoke seriously, with a rare sense of solemnity.

And in her eyes, there was trust. Pure, unshakable trust in Eros.

"Of course, I’ll reward you."

Just as Eros was still thinking things through, she suddenly grabbed his collar.

Her lips pressed against his without hesitation. Her tongue slipped in, twisting with his in a practiced knot.

"This is just a partial advance. I’ll give you the rest after you return from the Underworld."

Before Eros could react and retaliate, the kiss ended.

The perfectly measured sense of distance, neither too close nor too far, left him dangling in place, feeling oddly unsatisfied.

This consciousness in the microcosm is stingy too? Playing hard to get? Can’t you just do a bit more?

And by the time we’re up on Olympus, who’s really getting rewarded here? You or me?

Still, with Zeus being like this, Eros really had no reason to say no.

"All right, I get it."

Eros agreed, and the corners of Zeus’s eyes crinkled with joy. He couldn’t help but ask:

"And what about Persephone? Don’t tell me you don’t know anything. I won’t believe it."

Zeus hadn’t made a move. Nyx stayed silent. The Underworld was now entirely under Hades’s control.

Demeter might be trying to find help, but without intervention from a major god, it would be useless.

"Hmm? Persephone?"

Zeus tilted her head playfully, pretending to suddenly realize something.

"She’s still my daughter. Just take it easy on her, all right? Don’t play too rough, or I’ll have a hard time explaining it to my second sister."

...Huh?

I’m asking when you’ll rescue her, not about that!

But Eros felt a bit guilty now. So even the lyre playing earlier, Zeus knew about that too?

Kind of creepy. Can a guy get a little privacy?

"No, I mean Hades. If you don’t deal with her, who will?"

"That’s what you’re here for."

Zeus smiled, and Eros immediately felt a bad premonition.

"You’re perfect for the job. It’s just Hades. You can handle her."

"’Just Hades’? You personally appointed her Queen of the Underworld! You know exactly how strong she is!"

Now it was Eros’s turn to make the same face Hypnos had shown earlier.

What? Me? Defeat Hades? Are you serious?

"I’ll give you a little hint. She doesn’t respond well to force, try getting through to her heart."

So... seduction?

Eros considered it. That sounded... really dangerous.

Hades was clearly unstable. If he actually seduced her, wouldn’t he end up stuck in the Underworld forever, getting the ’dark room deluxe’ package?

Honestly, he’d rather keep things simple with Hades. Nothing complicated.

That’s why he always acted like a huge flirt around her.

It was all an act. Totally not his true self. He just didn’t want her catching deeper feelings.

But Zeus didn’t seem interested in explaining anything further. She turned, ready to leave.

"That’s enough for now. I’ll be waiting for you on Olympus."

She waved goodbye as the microcosm began rejecting Eros’s consciousness.

"Oh right, one last thing."

"Not just Persephone. Be gentle with my sisters too. Don’t go breaking all of them."

...Sisters?

You mean Hades? Or Demeter? Or, gods forbid, Hera?

As long as it’s not Poseidon. Eros had nothing to do with her.

Still, Zeus’s words left a strange feeling swirling in his chest.

What a tangled mess. Even Eros couldn’t sort it out.

But that’s just how things were in Greece, if you can’t figure it out, don’t bother. Just sleep with them.

Who would’ve thought just wandering around a bit would end up making his head spin?

Io’s situation was manageable. As long as he paid attention, there shouldn’t be any problems.

But Hades... surely he couldn’t really try conquering her with just a good waist?

It’s not like he was one of those yellow-haired guys from that kind of manga, stick it in and boom, brainwash success.

Though honestly... if the [Demon Emperor Fist] worked that way, Eros might give it a shot.

Eros opened his eyes, his consciousness returning to his body.

But the moment his senses returned, a strange sensation greeted him.

His fingers were trapped in something warm and soft... and it was slowly pulling him in deeper.

Like being swallowed by a soft-bodied creature, it pulsed and twisted, tugging him inward.

Eros looked at Persephone, who was straddling his arm, and a question mark slowly formed above his head.

You really are the goddess of spring, huh.

Seeing that Eros was awake, Persephone didn’t panic or run.

Instead, she looked at him with watery eyes, clearly distressed.

"...It doesn’t feel good. I tried by myself... but it doesn’t feel good..."

Eros immediately snapped to attention. He hadn’t expected Persephone to fall this fast.

Shouldn’t there be at least a little hesitation? A bit of internal struggle? Then give in with a blush and half-hearted protest?

Why was she already launching a sneak attack? Couldn’t she hold out a little longer?

When Eros didn’t move, Persephone instinctively wiggled, guided by raw desire.

"Help me..."

Who could possibly resist this kind of trial?

Eros instantly discarded his earlier concerns and sat up.

Sure, Persephone might be easy mode, but once you thought about Demeter, the difficulty shot up again.

If Hades weren’t taking the blame right now, there’s no way he’d get close to Persephone this easily.

Since the opportunity was here, he couldn’t waste it. Whether or not Demeter came to settle accounts afterward, who cared?

Persephone looked at him, confused and a little annoyed, as Eros withdrew his hand.

"Persephone, this isn’t right. If Lady Demeter finds out, she’ll never let me off."

Without hesitation, Persephone answered:

"It’s fine. Mother’s not here. She won’t know."

From good girl to bad girl, what a lightning-fast transformation.

Hearing exactly what he wanted, Eros no longer held back.

"This thing you’re using, of course it doesn’t feel good."

"I have something better. Let me show you how it’s done."
