CHAPTER 618: BABYSITTER CLUB ?

Luo Huian was having a headache. Her head was throbbing so painfully that she was about to faint; however, before she could even enjoy some time alone, her mer husbands returned one after another, and when they returned, they didn’t just return alone; they actually came back with another brat!

Luo Huian looked at the small mer, who was in the arms of her second husband, and she blinked her eyes. She did it once and then another time before closing her eyes and counting to a hundred before opening them once again. She had expected that as long as she closed her eyes and counted long enough, the little brat would disappear, but unexpectedly her hopes were doomed to fail because the second she opened her eyes, the brat was still in the arms of Fan Meilin.

"So they truly increased," she spoke in a tired voice.

Fan Meilin looked a bit awkward when he heard Luo Huian’s words. He patted Fan Xiajin on the back to soothe him and then turned to look at Luo Huian, who seemed to be staring at Fan Xiajin as if she were looking at a great enemy. He said to her, "Don’t worry; Jin is not a troubled child. He is really gentle and understanding. So he will not cause trouble for you or anyone else."

Fan Xiajin glanced up at Luo Huian, who glanced right back at him. Even though the two of them didn’t say anything, the tension was quite palpable, and it thickened even further when Fan Xiajin turned his head to one side and said to Fan Meilin, "I am scared."

Luo Huian: "...."

"Scared of what? I didn’t even scold you," snapped Luo Huian. She felt the little mer was being a tad bit unfair by claiming that he was scared when she hadn’t even done anything to him. Yet.

Xiao Hei and Xiao Bai: "..." What do you mean by ’yet’?

What are you planning to do to the little child?

Of course, Luo Huian planned to do nothing to the child. She, however, did feel annoyed when the mer kept peering up at her as if she were going to sell him to a human trafficker. What was the meaning of that gaze? Why was he looking at her as if she were the bad guy here when it was his mother who dumped her child on her head without asking if she was alright with taking another brat under her wings?

"Huian, he is just a kid," said Qi Yongrui as he looked at his wife, who seemed to be close to losing her temper.

"I know he is just a kid." Luo Huian glanced at her husband; she curled her lips in a twisted sneer before saying to the mer, "If he were not a kid, I would have sent him packing back to his mother. I don’t recall opening a babysitter club; having two is bad enough."

She then turned to look at Fan Meilin before saying to him, "If this kid gets lost, I am not going to look for him. You better keep an eye on him."

"Don’t worry; I will." Fan Meilin agreed without much hassle.

Only then did Luo Huian roll her eyes and leave the matter alone. She turned around and walked away, leaving the three mers alone with the three kids. Once she was gone, Fan Meilin and the rest heaved a sigh of relief.

Fan Meilin patted his chest and muttered, "I was sure that she was going to kick up a fuss."

"Me too." Qi Yongrui sagged in relief when he saw that his wife had not lost her temper with them. When he saw Fan Meilin coming with Fan Xiajin, he was sure that Luo Huian was going to lose her temper with them. Fortunately, she only said a few harsh words and nothing else.

Liao Liqin wanted to say something, but before he could inject a few wise words, his phone started to ring. Troubled, he picked up the call when he saw that it was none other than Du De’s brother.

"Hello? Liqin? Can you hear me? Don’t reply; just make a sound. I know you have trouble speaking." Brother Du was quite worried on the other side as well and immediately spoke kindly to Liao Liqin.

"Hmmm?" Liao Liqin made a sound but didn’t speak. He wanted to hear what Du De’s brother wanted from him.

Brother Du heaved a sigh of relief. He patted his chest and then said to Liao Liqin, "Liqin, I know that you are at the strawberry farm – I saw your moments on social media. And though it’s a bit rude of me to ask this of you... I know that you and Dede are having some trouble, but can you go and take a look at my two sons and daughters? I left my kids with Dede, as she said that she could take care of them, but who would have thought that my daughter would call me an hour later and tell me that their aunt can’t even stop my youngest from crying?"

"I beg you, Liqin. I am out of the country, and my plane doesn’t land till four in the evening. I am boarding the plane now, but even then it will take at least five hours for me to arrive there. Till then, just till then, take care of the kids, alright? I promise that I will never forget this favour of yours."

Liao Liqin: "..."

Qi Yongrui and Fan Meilin, who heard everything: "..."

What was this? Did all of their acquaintances bring their kids to the strawberry farm?

It was one thing that they brought their kids to the strawberry farm; why were they asking them to take care of these kids? Were they not worried that Luo Huian would skin them alive? Or did they think that their lives were way too long, which was why they were helping them run out of fuel?

**

On the other side of the strawberry farm, Du De was having a troubled time, just as her brother told Liao Liqin. She was looking at the little girl in the stroller and frowning hard. She was not used to taking care of children. But her brother told her that he needed to arrange for a doctor for their mother, and that was why he needed to fly to the other side of the world as soon as possible. Because her sister in law and brother were paying for their mother’s surgery, Du De couldn’t turn a blind eye to their request.

After all, she had already refused to take out the money many times whenever her brother asked her to help them fill up the gaps and holes. But Du De was petty and miserly; she didn’t want to hand in the money that she had earned with her own hard work. Not to mention, her brother married well, her sister in law had quite a lot of money, and she was certainly doing better than her.

At least she had a supermarket. Unlike her, who had literally nothing in her hands. She was still a struggling artist who didn’t even have a name for herself. How could she share the burden of her mother’s surgery?

Thus, when her brother told her that he wanted her to take care of the kids, she agreed with him because she knew that if she rejected him again, Brother Du would certainly lose his temper with her, but what Du De never thought was that it was so hard to control these four brats. They were simply hell raisers who didn’t even listen to a thing that she was saying to them.

"Alright, that’s enough!" Du De roared at the baby in her arms. She was running out of patience, and the last thing she needed was for these kids to make trouble for her. "Can’t you all just stay quiet? Why are you yelling and crying so much?"

As she spoke, she fiercely glared at the other three toddlers as well. She was doing all she could to make sure that these kids would have a good time. Du De even brought them here because they wanted to have fun. Now that she had brought them to this awful farm, they were crying and calling for their parents. One of them even called her sister-in-law and told her that they wanted to go back.

It was a good thing that her sister-in-law thought that these brats were crying because they were missing the two of them. If these children had tattled to her sister-in-law and told her that they were scolded by her, if they had told her sister-in-law the truth, Du De was worried that her sister-in-law would have certainly blamed her.

The three toddlers turned quiet. But a second later, they burst into tears as the third sibling yelled angrily, "Bad Aunt!"

And before Du De could stop him, he turned on his feet and ran away.
