CHAPTER 636: ALMOST DEAD

Luo Huian didn’t quite believe Xiao Bai’s words, but she also knew that, compared to her and Xiao Hei, Xiao Bai was much better at understanding human emotions. Something she still had a hard time understanding. Thus, even though she didn’t understand how it was possible for Shi Meifeng to be good to her, she still nodded at her with a smile and then turned to look at Luo Qingling.

However, she didn’t know that just a small smile from her would cause a gust of spring breeze to fly past Shi Meifeng’s barren heart. She jumped down from the streetlight and walked over to Luo Huian with a confident yet calm gait.

"An An?"

Luo Huian raised her head and turned to look at Shi Meifeng. Beside her, Luo Qingling’s expression darkened; this was the reason why she never wanted Luo Huian to meet with Shi Meifeng.

"Yes?" Luo Huian tilted her head to one side and questioned. "What’s the matter?"

The second Luo Huian finished speaking, and Shi Meifeng violently trembled and reached out to take her hands into hers. She said to her, "An An, you are finally not angry with your cousin Meifeng? I was really scared, thinking that you would refuse to talk to me, even after so many months had already passed—you refused to talk to me."

Shi Meifeng’s eyes turned red as she thought about how she had tried to get close to Luo Huian after the engagement, but either Luo Huian, she herself or Ye Shun would refuse to meet with her. She clearly had nothing to do with the engagement, and it was just an arrangement made by the elders, and yet she was the one who suffered the most.

Luo Huian had been her obsession since the day she saw her dressed in the princess dress when she was five, and trying to save the life of a little kitten. Asking an S-rank hunter to stay away from their obsession was like asking them to survive on a limited amount of oxygen while trying to swim from the bottom of the ocean.

Only Shi Meifeng knew how hard it was for her to stay away from Luo Huian all these months; she was afraid that a few more days would have turned her crazy. Fortunately, Luo Huian had forgiven her.

Luo Huian was speechless.

She had expected a lot of things, but she had never expected such a confession from Shi Meifeng. If someone was unclear about the situation, they would think that she and Shi Meifeng were lovers who had separated for years and just ran into one another after a long separation.

Earlier, she had indeed refused to meet with Shi Meifeng because she thought that the woman was looking for her because the previous host had bothered her fiancé, but she never knew that this woman was looking for her over something like this. What did she mean by forgiveness? Shouldn’t she be the one asking for it for disrupting the engagement party of Shi Meifeng and Chen Mingyu?

"No, I should be the one—"

"Huian", Luo Qingling intervened in between their reunion and snatched Luo Huian’s hands away from Shi Meifeng before saying to her, "How about this? We should first deal with the Hollow. We will hear what your cousin Meifeng has to say to you after that."

Luo Huian blinked her eyes; she had a feeling that there was something wrong, but she couldn’t quite put her hand on it. She nodded and said, "Alright."

Anyway, dealing with the Hollow was more important than anything, so it was not wrong that Luo Qingling was asking her to deal with it first.

"Alright, you go do your thing. I will ask Geming to back you up, along with the rest." Luo Qingling patted Luo Huian on the head and then chased her away like a little kid who had barged in on the quarrel of her parents and needed to be sent away.

Dong Geming eyed Luo Qingling nervously while chasing after Luo Huian, and Bai Shiliu went for the straight gun. She looked at the two women and said in a cold voice, "Don’t you try to kill each other now; if you do that, Huian would be really upset."

"Of course, I won’t do it. Here," Luo Qingling added with a subtle hint of annoyance, causing Bai Shiliu and Dong Geming to pause. Both women turned around and looked at her with cold sweat dripping down their foreheads and jaws before they said simultaneously,

"You are not allowed to kill her anywhere!"

"You can’t kill the leader of the number one base! Are you crazy?"

ROARRRRR!!!

Bai Shiliu and Dong Geming turned to look at the hollow and then turned to look at Luo Qingling before saying to her, "You better not touch her."

"If you want to kill her, first arrange for a new identity for me. I am not getting involved in anything so dangerous like that." Bai Shiliu commanded before charging into the hollow along with Dong Geming.

Duan Jia Xu and Xue Shen looked at Luo Qingling as well; though they had no idea what the dynamics of the Luo and the Shi families were, they knew that the leaders of the guilds were not allowed to kill one another. If Luo Qingling did something to Shi Meifeng here, then they all would be implicated.

Luo Qingling seemed to have realised what the two of them were thinking. She waved her hand at them and said, "Don’t worry. I will not do anything to her, since I have said it—she will be safe and sound with me."

Only then did the two hunters turn around and leave.

Luo Qingling’s smile disappeared as soon as they all were gone; she turned around and looked at Shi Meifeng. Of course, the woman was not at all bothered by the aura that had wrapped itself around Luo Qingling due to the anger that she was feeling at the moment.

"You need to stay away from Huian," Luo Qingling said to Shi Meifeng. "I don’t know what your deal is with trying to get close to her, but she has just gotten better. I do understand that you didn’t have any other choice, but I can never forgive Aunt and Uncle for turning a blind eye to what An An wanted."

"The four of us have grown up together. Everyone, including me, could see what Chen Mingyu meant for An An. It will be a surprise that Aunt Shi couldn’t see it. He was the only one whom An An took as her own, and Aunt Shi, for her own benefits, ignored that. You, as her daughter, cannot wash it off just because you didn’t know or you couldn’t do anything."

Shi Meifeng stared at Luo Qingling. A gust of wind fluttered past them as something crashed not far from where they were standing. Seeing the stern look on her face, Shi Meifeng smiled. She tilted her head to one side and then said to Luo Qingling, "It’s not that I don’t want to stay away from An An. I know I should. After what happened at the engagement banquet, it’s only right I keep my distance from her, but I cannot. She is my obsession."

"You—" Luo Qingling’s eyes widened in surprise and anger. She knew what it meant for a high-ranking hunter to suddenly grow an obsession with a person. They would live and die for them. This was something she knew all too well because she was the same.

Shi Meifeng turned on her feet and smiled at Luo Qingling, "Since you already know the truth, you should keep your threats to yourself. Unless you want the entire city to die under my mania."

Shi Meifeng then jumped up the building and soon disappeared. Since Luo Huian was here already, there was no point in her staying and controlling the Hollow. With Luo Huian taking charge, everything would soon return to normal.

And Shi Meifeng was quite right about that; Luo Huian not only took down the hollow but also rescued Nan Zhi, who had been chosen as the vessel for the hollow. Of course, by the time she was done, she was tired to the point that she couldn’t even stand straight. After all, she had used a lot of spiritual energy.

It was not easy for her to maintain Xiao Hei’s gigantic form without losing half of her cultivating energy. Not to mention, she had to play a song to bring peace to the people around the hollow lest they become the next vessels.

"Huian, are you alright?" Luo Qingling rushed over when she saw Luo Huian swaying on the spot; she was standing.

"I—"

Luo Huian wanted to say that she was alright, but before she could open her mouth, her legs buckled and her knees almost hit the ground if not for Luo Qingling reaching out and holding her up.

By the time she realised something was wrong, Luo Huian only heard Luo Qingling screaming at someone to bring an ambulance.
