Guide To Reign My Tycoon Husbands
Chapter 638: Are You Trying To Kill Your Father?
CHAPTER 638: ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOUR FATHER?
Xiao Bai disappeared before Luo Huian could stop her. She didn’t know where the little familiar had disappeared to, but knowing that Xiao Bai could go in and out of the immortal realm, Luo Huian was not too worried. She simply sipped on the warm water and waited for the itch in her throat to calm down.
However, it was quite hard with so many people looking at her. She raised her head and looked at the Luo family, who were eyeing every move of hers as if they were worried that she would fall again. Luo Huian closed her eyes and sighed. She said in an unhurried manner, "I am doing alright. You all don’t need to worry about me."
Of course, no one believed her. They had seen Luo Huian almost breathe her last, and even Doctor Tan said that it was a miracle that her heart was revived. If not, they would be preparing for her funeral by now!
The ones who were scared the most were naturally Qi Yongrui, Fan Meilin and Liao Liqin. Even though Luo Huian was not much help to them in the past, she was still their wife. With her by their side, the Luo family would naturally treat them well. But if something happened to her, they would certainly be in a lot of trouble both inside and outside.
"Are you hungry?" Qi Yongrui asked worriedly. It had been three weeks since Luo Huian ate anything, and he was quite worried. Looking at the shadows under her eyes, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. All of this wouldn’t have happened if he had only listened to her and sent Nan Zhi back to Ye Jinglan.
They could have come up with another way to bring that girl under their wing. However, he was too worried about Nan Zhi. To make things worse, he didn’t even consider whether Luo Huian would be fine; it was all because he was too careless, too casual about his wife’s safety. In his mind, Luo Huian was way too strong and would be fine, which was why he didn’t even consider that his decisions might cause trouble for Luo Huian.
It was only when he saw Luo Huian weak and pale and lying on a hospital bed without moving that he came to a realisation. His wife—no matter how strong—was human too. She couldn’t magically make things better just because she was different from others. She would fall sick, get hurt and, in the worst-case scenario—die.
"I am fine," Luo Huian didn’t feel hungry, having just woken up. She rubbed her nursing headache and said to everyone, "I would like to sleep a bit more, if you don’t mind." Luo Huian knew that they were worried about her, but she honestly couldn’t summon the energy to deal with them. She felt weak and clammy, which was something that she had never felt before.
Even though she wanted to talk to the rest of the Luo family, she couldn’t because her body didn’t just feel like it was alright.
Of course it doesn’t; you are running low on spiritual energy. As a dweller of the spiritual realm, it’s nearly impossible for your soul to be alright without the spiritual energy. This was why I kept telling you that you should go back to the spiritual realm.
You are forgetting that the old hag kicked me out and told me that I cannot return until I fulfil my punishment.
As if Elder Madam Luo expected you to fulfil your end of the bargain; she just wanted to make a show in front of the other elders. You cannot expect her to protect you in front of the rest of the elders; it would have caused quite a mess. Xiao Hei snapped at Luo Huian. He knew that she knew that Elder Madam Luo never meant to kick her out for years; it was just a small punishment that was given to her as a show, and still, the girl was upset with Elder Madam Luo.
Luo Huian scoffed. She knew that it was just a punishment, but it was quite an unfair punishment. Why was she asked to show empathy and mercy when none was shown to her? It was simply them being hypocritical.
Ignoring the relentless mutterings of the black snake, Luo Huian turned over and fell asleep.
Seeing that she was really tired, Luo Qingling asked everyone to leave and not bother her when she was sleeping.
"How is she?"
As Luo Qingling stepped out of the ward, she ran into Shi Meifeng, who had come to look for Luo Huian. However, Luo Qingling had not allowed the woman to go inside. Partially because she was jealous and partly because she believed that Shi Meifeng was Luo Huian’s mortal enemy, every time the two of them met with one another, Luo Huian would meet with an accident, which wasn’t a good sign.
She glanced at the woman and replied, "She is fine, just tired. You can go home. I don’t think Aunt Shi appreciates you coming here instead of taking care of the guild."
"She can go and die for all I care," scoffed Shi Meifeng as she took out a cigar and placed it between her lips. Lighting it up, she let out a puff of smoke before saying to Luo Qingling, "Did she say anything to you?"
"What will she say? She just told me to make you understand that you cannot do anything by coming here when An An is not showing any signs of waking up. It’s better for you to stay at the guild and pay attention to the jobs that are waiting for you instead of wasting your time on someone like An An," replied Luo Qingling with a curl of her lips.
Of course, she also said some well-chosen words to her aunt, who believed that she was better than them just because she had more connections thanks to her daughter. The Shi family was indeed on par with theirs, but it was Shi Meifeng who had brought it to the current status. Her aunt, on the other hand, took that success as her own because she believed that she had taught Shi Meifeng too well.
The truth, however, was something else. Luo Qingling glanced at the woman in front of her and recalled their childhood. If not for the fact that she was not certain that Shi Meifeng was human, she would have thought that this woman was a devil. Always smiling and hiding her thoughts deep in her heart ever since she was a child.
Even when she was a child, Shi Meifeng had hardly shown her emotions on her face. She was quiet and calm even as a five-year-old. Not to mention scheming. Only a fool like her aunt would think that she did a good job in raising Shi Meifeng when, in truth, this woman was just different from the rest since she was a little kid.
When Shi Meifeng heard the good things that her mother had said to Luo Qingling, she narrowed her eyes. She had clearly told the old woman to stop badgering her since she had done what she asked her to do and she had used all the favours that Shi Meifeng owed her when she got her engaged to Chen Mingyu.
What was she trying to do now by pulling her down along with her?
"Don’t worry about her; I will take care of her," remarked Shi Meifeng as she pushed herself off the wall and turned to walk out of the hospital. But before leaving, she paused and turned to look at Luo Qingling. She said, "Tell An An, I will come and see her tomorrow. She might as well wait for my visit eagerly."
"You might as well not come at all." Luo Qingling narrowed her eyes at the woman and rolled her eyes. "You are the cause of all the tragedy that she faces; don’t you think so?"
Shi Meifeng smiled at her before saying, "I don’t think so; if anything, you can say that it’s after I leave that An An faces such a plight, maybe I am her lucky charm?"
After speaking, she disappeared down the hallway, and Luo Qingling was left to fume at the shamelessness of the woman. She had to admit that this woman was really too narcissistic.
On the other side, inside the ward, Luo Huian, who had fallen asleep, opened her eyes. She turned and looked at Jiao Bo, who was sitting on the chair next to her bed. With his long hair tied with a jade crown and floating green cloud robes, the man looked just as enchanting as he had the last time she had seen him.
"Huian, do you want to kill your dad? Is this why you are acting so stubborn, my dear?" Jiao Bo asked as he looked at the puny spiritual energy inside of his daughter’s core. He wondered silently how Luo Huian even survived this pain. Her soul should have disappeared long ago due to the lack of spiritual energy within her core.
As realisation dawned on him, Jiao Bo couldn’t help but frown in pain.
