CHAPTER 103: NAN ZHI: I DON’T PLAY FAIR

Ruan Chanchan had no idea what the mer was thinking. She turned to look at Nan Zhi, who had come looking for her, and asked, "Why are you here?" She just left the Nan family cave, and Nan Wu’s condition was quite stable as well. Why did this mer come looking for her then?

"Is everything alright?" Ruan Chanchan asked as she took a seat next to Ruan Zeqiu. Even though she didn’t sit next to Nan Zhi, her knee still brushed against his leg, which made the mer blush. When Xie Daiyu saw this, his expression turned sullen. He stomped over to where Ruan Chanchan was sitting and then sat down right next to her. His gaze never left Nan Zhi, who was staring at Ruan Chanchan like a fool. This mer!

How dare he look at his destined one with that despicable gaze? Xie Daiyu glared at Nan Zhi, who, sensing something amiss, raised his head and looked at Xie Daiyu. But unlike Hong Zao, he didn’t back down. He glared at the mer right back. So what if Xie Daiyu had his eyes on Ruan Chanchan? In the end, the decision was going to be made by Ruan Chanchan. Who was this mer to glare at him and tell him off? Does he think that he could do anything just because Ruan Chanchan was being kind to him and allowed him to linger next to her?

When Xie Daiyu saw that Nan Zhi was actually glaring at him, he was so angry that he wished to bite the mer to death. If this mer had not been sitting next to Ruan Chanchan, he would have really done it!

Just wait; I will teach you a lesson when we are alone.

The two mers glared at one another, causing sparks to fly in the cave. Ruan Zeqiu, who was sitting on the cave floor, stared at the two mers with sharp eyes and sneered. Heh, did these two mers think that he was dead? He was not going to allow either of these two mers to imprint on his sister. Neither of them deserved her!

Ruan Chanchan didn’t know what was going on. She only knew that there was something wrong with the two mers who were sitting on either side of her. And why were they even sitting beside her? Squeezing her like they were bent on making a human sandwich out of her? There had to be something wrong with them.

She cleared her throat. Her voice was loud enough to snap the two mers out of their reverie, and she turned to look at Ruan Chanchan, who was staring at them sternly. She ignored Xie Daiyu and turned to look at Nan Zhi. "Is something the matter?"

She wondered why the mer came looking for her when she had clearly left his cave just a few seconds ago. So why did this mer come to her cave? Unless something happened to Nan Wu as soon as she left, Ruan Chanchan didn’t see any other reason for the mer to come looking for her.

Nan Zhi shot a proactive look at Xie Daiyu, who glared, if possible, even harder at the mer. Ignoring that glare, he turned to look at Ruan Chanchan. "I wanted to apologise in place of my father." Nan Zhi didn’t want to go chasing Ruan Chanchan, but his sister asked him to go and take a look. The two siblings knew that Ruan Chanchan would certainly finish what she had started, but they still felt a bit frustrated because of the things that their father said to Ruan Chanchan.

Ruan Zeqiu was a skilled warrior, and the Ruan siblings didn’t lack any animal hide. So why would Ruan Chanchan eye the little hide their family had? What their father said was really rude.

Nan Zhi came to apologise to Ruan Chanchan because he didn’t want her to get angry with him and his sister. Especially not with him.

When Ruan Chanchan heard his apology, she waved her hand. "I am not upset. I just wanted to think of a way to get some fresh animal hides that I can use to bandage your sister’s wounds." Her supermarket was not fully open, which meant that after she used the novice healer pack, she ran out of the miraculous bandage. But Nan Wu was still in need of some clean bandages. Using the rags in her store wouldn’t work.

It was better to make use of what was available in this world.

"Then how about you come with us?" Xie Daiyu suggested.

As soon as he finished speaking, Ruan Zeqiu whipped his head. "No." He was the first to refuse, as he knew the dangers of hunting beasts. His sister was without a beast core; the last thing he needed was for her to get involved in beast hunting when she couldn’t even outrun or hide from the beast.

He would be an idiot to allow his sister to get involved in beast hunting.

"I am not bringing her to the beast-hunting grounds." Xie Daiyu felt helpless when Ruan Zeqiu glared at him. He spread his hands in front of him helplessly and said to Ruan Zeqiu, "I only want to bring her along. She can wait at the safe grounds." He paused and added, "You also know that every beast that we hunt is handed to the processing team, who take the beast’s hide, bones and flesh apart. And the hides are given to the tribe members after the elders are done choosing, including the bones. Only the flesh is shared among the tribe members. Unless the top warriors ask for hides, the processing team will not share them with us, and the pieces of hides that are shared with us are not good."

He turned to look at Ruan Chanchan and asked, "Do you think that these hides will work?" He picked up a piece of hide from the corner of the cave and showed it to Ruan Chanchan.
